A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 11th/ MARCH 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning, the first this week, after freshening up it was time for breakfast of ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon & Fried Eggs ( still no Campo!) with buttered toast and mugs of ‘ PG Tips ‘ ‘Chispa’ called in to see us, she’s missing all her ‘Doggy ‘ friends, ‘Reina’ is back on Monday for her normal five days and then on Wednesday she will have a new friend ‘TJ’ who’s with us for two nights and three days. It’s very quiet here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – we are missing having the various dogs around, especially ‘ Charlie’!

This all depends on me not ending up in hospital for my ‘Prostrate ‘ Operation, yesterday the ‘ Anestesia Consultant’ after giving me the ‘all clear’ indicated that it would be very soon, 3/4 days notice, my new PJs & Slippers with my posh Bathrobe are ready, my new overnight bag is packed,  all we need now is the phone call, watch this space.

We are in for another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out first thing, the sky is clear and bright blue, there is no breeze, it’s forecast to reach 28 degs by the afternoon, real ‘ Carnival ‘ weather! Sadly the ‘ Atlantic’ front is due to come across the region on Sunday bringing with it the wind, rain and cold front, watch this space.

See the ' Drone ' view taken this morning of Duquesa Marina & Sabinillas promenade.

On our way back from the hospital yesterday afternoon we called into the ‘H10 Estepona Princess ‘ for a nice glass of the very good chilled ‘House  Cava ‘ – it was topped up by the bartender, when our first glass was empty, who then gave us the both glasses on the ‘ House ‘ !! We then shot along to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ to ‘ La Taberna 2 ‘  to try out their ‘Early Bird ‘ menu; we sat outside on their new terrace in the main square of the sleepy fishing village, the sun was still out and by the time we left it was a red sky sunset followed by a full moon.

Brenda had the same dish as last time, ‘ Pan Seared Fillets of Sea Bass ‘ on a rich Red Pepper salsa with ‘Aldente ‘ vegetables and Saute Potatoes with fresh Rosemary, I went for the two course ‘ Early Bird ‘ menu, (15.95) - a light Prawn & Avacado Salad followed by a very succulent & tasty ( BBQ)  ‘Entrecote’ Steak’ - ‘Med-Rare’ with Chips, I asked if they were fresh and was told ‘ Yes’ – ‘Marlow’s Fish n’ Chip Shop’ best – in fact they were the same as last time, not ‘ fresh’ as we know them?!

Back at home we settled down to watch the ‘ Six Nations Rugby Union’ as Wales welcomed Ireland to the “ Principality Stadium’ with the roof closed and the pitch watered?! Wales survived an Ireland fightback to claim a pressure-relieving win, 22-9 and hand England a chance, this afternoon to clinch the ‘ Six Nations’ title against Scotland. Italy welcome France in the first game today.

Over in the ‘Premiere League’ Everton are at home to West Bromwich Albion and in the sixth round of the ‘ Emirates FA Cup’ Manchester City travel across to Middlesbrough, over in here in ‘ La Liga ‘ on Sunday  Real Madrid welcome Real Betis and Barcelona have the long, cross country, journey to Deportivo La Curuna. The ‘National Hunt Racing’ racing is from ‘Sandown Park’ -next week it’s the high light of the racing season with the ‘Cheltenham Festival’ on for five days from Tuesday.

This afternoon we are going up to’ Bar Rojas’ to sit and watch the ‘ Carnival’ parade come along ‘Calle Mar’ – see all the pictures later.

A terrible procession with no atmosphere, only one band, not many characters and not the usual standard, all the village is down on the beach as it's not the normal time for the parade, a 'Black Mark ' for our new Council!

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Tournedos Rossini’ . my version of the old classic, I wrap the Fillet steaks in Smoked Bacon, they are then seared on a very hot griddle plate, for colour, before baking them in a hot oven ‘ Med-Rare’ – left to rest, then topped with a quenelle of ‘Ibreico Pate’ and served on a toasted ‘Crute’ surrounded by a pool of a rich ‘Red Wine & Manzilla’ glaze, garnished with seared Asparagus spears, whole Baby Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ See below;

The ‘ Roast ‘ on Sunday is going to be ‘ Leg of New Zealand, South Island, Lamb with ‘ Fondante & Boulangere Potatoes!

After supper this evening we will channel hop to find a good film to watch.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
