A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

....

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 30th/ JUNE 2020.   “ NEW NORMALITY – DAY 9 “

Another little lie in this morning, before we freshened up, at the same  time listening to the ‘ Lockdown Part’ show on “ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW” – the ‘ Mystery Voice’ quiz was easy this morning, it was Roger Daltrey of ‘ The Who’!

Yesterday Sarah Milligan;

I was on the breakfast rota this morning so I had my favourite ‘ Toasted Crisp Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite sliced/seared Button Mushrooms – tossed in the bacon juice with a knob of Butter, some of which ended up in my Butty! Mugs of hot/strong Tea helped to wash them down.

After a very hot & sticky night, this morning the sun broke through first thing, the sky is now cloudless and blue, as there is still a very slight breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 29 degs+ again – down to just 21 degs+ during the night, tomorrow, at the start of July, it’s going hotter, up to 33/34 degs+ - staying the same on Thursday, then from Friday and over the coming weekend it will be a little cooler, as the breeze picks up, next week is going to be another ‘ Hot-One’ – with lots of very warm sunshine, clear blue skies and hovering in the high 20s/low 30s, all week, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the football results over the weekend; Manchester City won 0-2 and now play Arsenal in the semi-final of the ‘FA Cup’ – over here Barcelona could only manage a draw 2-2 – as Real Madrid won 0 -1 and went 2 points clear at the top of ‘La Liga’

This week Everton welcome Leicester and on Thursday Manchester City ( the Old Champions) welcome Liverpool ( the New Champions!) Over here, this evening Barcelona are at home to Atletico Madrid, who are on a winning streak, while Real Madrid welcome Getafe! Watch this space.

Meanwhile here in sunny Manilva the ‘ Council’ continues to wash down all the streets, water all the plant pots/flowers, at the same sanitising/disinfecting all the house/streets etc, as well as still humidifying the main areas, maintaining the pavements, rubbish disposal, also the work on the main road into the village is going at a quick pace, sadly all the usual ‘Festivals/Religious Celebrations’ have been called off/cancelled, of course!

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘ Seafood’ Rirotto’ re-constituted with a little Fish Stock, adding some Prawns, Mussels & Hake Fillet.

On Wednesday evening it’s going to be ‘ Chicken & Chips ‘ – we are now taking the ‘Menus’ one day at the time.

The ‘ IPTV’ system is at the moment back online and working ( fingers crossed) so we are able to catch up with the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow, as well as various series, last night we caught the next episode of  the excellent ‘ Broadchurch ‘ – it’s the repeat of Series 1.

The Football coverage is also back on, but it’s hard to watch, with no crowds/fans in the stadiums, the added crowd noises are not good, the matches seem more like practise games!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

....

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK GOING INTO JULY.

MONDAY 29th/ JUNE 2020.    “ NEW NORMALITY – DAY 8 “

Just a little lie in this morning before getting another week on the go, down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in a very sunny Manilva! After freshening up we had our regular light breakfast of fresh fruit ( peeled/sliced Nectarines) with toast & tea.

As usual we were listening to the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on “ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW “ as the Mystery Vice’ quiz came on, it was the comedian Sarah Millican, a good start to the week!

I then ‘ masked/gloved’ up and shot along to the Bank in ‘ Calle Mar’ for some cash, Brenda then ‘ masked/gloved’ up and went around to the local Monday market, in the centre of the village, on the ‘Plaza Pozo del Rey’ for some fresh flowers and fruit and vegetables.

Now It’s ‘ Confession’ time! Yesterday afternoon we had a ‘Facebook’ message from our dear friend Brian, asking us to join him up at ‘Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ – at around 3-00 pm, he had been at ‘Bar Castillo’ for his Paella lunch and expected to see us there, so we shot up and joined him and his Swedish friend, Peter, sat in the very hot sunshine, under their umbrellas, as the large/cool drinks arrived, more followed, we then moved across the road to sit in the shade, as it was getting rather hot.

Some other friends came along, a little later, and joined us, it was Lorraine ( Mace) – the World famous author thriller writer ( The D. I. Sterling Series ) and her partner Chris, who live in the village, more drinks arrived, as we brought the World to Rights!

The evening carried on, pass our ‘ Risotto’ time for supper, Brian was by then up to my ‘ Last-One’ for now mode, which means ‘ More’ – so we decided to have our supper, Brenda had an excellent ‘ Tagliatelle Carbonara ‘ and I had the ‘ House ‘ Burger with Frits – as the final ‘ night-cap’ arrived, we came home, down our street felling rather ‘ Happy’ and in need of a ‘ Siesta’ – except it was by then 11 00 pm – 8 HOURS  later!!  ‘ Dirty Stop Outs ‘ !!

This morning the sun was out early and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, with a slight breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 29 degs+ - overnight only dropping to 20/21 degs+ - the rest of the week, is staying the same, at the start of July,  going hotter each day, on Wednesday/Thursday, when it’s going up to 34 degs+ - over the coming weekend a little cooler as the breeze picks up, next week is looking like we are in for more of the same, very hot and sunny all week, hovering in the high 20s/low 30s, watch this space.

So for our supper this evening it’s going to be the ‘ Seafood Risotto’! The menu’s for the rest of the week are yet to be agreed, watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

.....

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 28th/ JUNE 2020.     “ NEW NORMALITY – DAY 7 “

We had a nice long lie in this morning before the church bells (2) started, calling the ‘ Faithful’ to Mass, after freshening up, after another very ‘sticky’ night, I  had a surprise breakfast, as Brenda had cooked some ‘English Pork Sausages’ - so I had a ‘ Toasted Sausage Butty ‘ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of hot/strong tea to get us ready for the day ahead!

Last night over in Llandudno, in North Wales,  the promenade was lit up in the colours of the ‘NHS’ – as you can see below.

This morning the sun was out first thing, the sky has cleared and is cloudless and bright blue, there is a light breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 32/33 degs+ - overnight only down to 21 degs+  - next week, at the start of July, we are in for a ‘ Hot-One’ – with very hot & sunny weather, light breezes, and cloudless blue skies, hovering in the low/mid 30s, by next Wednesday up to 34 degs+ - next weekend it’s going to be a little cooler as the breeze stiffens, the following week we are in for more of the same, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having my classic recipe/version of a ‘ Seafood Risotto ‘ – made with ‘ Spanish Arborio’ Rice’ from Valencia, starting with lightly sautéed diced Shallots ( no colour) with a small dash of ‘Lea & Perrins and Tabasco’ – then the rice is added, along with a good glug of White Wine, the rich ‘ Fish’ stock is then slowly added, stirring all the time, then I add the cubed assorted fish, mussels & small Gambas (shell on) – next the larger shelled/cooked Prawns & Garden Peas, adjusting the seasoning, adding a little chopped Parsley & grated Parmesan and a dash of Cream, garnished with Asparagus Spears, Prawns ( shell on) and large Mussels in the shell!

Here in the village all the Bars,  along ‘ Calle Mar’ - except ‘ Nachos Bar’ are now re-opened, next week ‘ Cacho Voy ‘ next to the ‘Plaza Pozo del Rey’ in the centre of the village is due to re-open after having a kitchen update, see below.

‘Cafe Plaza’ is back into the routine, the ‘ New’ bar next door is still being worked on, ‘Bar Luque’ opposite is open when he want’s to, also the new 'El Pestana ' is now open, sadly ‘Bar Ocaña ‘ is now closed permanently ( still Hostal  Ocaña open)

Our friends, the two ‘ Fabio’s’ at ‘ Bar Rojas Sol y Vida’ are doing a roaring business, both Spanish & English.

Finally the most popular and very busy ‘Bar Castillo’ is fully back in business, see below.

She's still there !

Just a very quick update on the football results; Barcelona could only draw 2-2 – so are only 1 point ahead, in ‘La Liga’ of Real Madrid who play this evening, later today Manchester City are at Newcastle in the Sixth Round of the FA Cup.

Yesterday we watched some football, which is not very exciting with no crowds, then after supper more re-plays of ‘ Glastonbury’ – with ‘Adele, Coldplay and the magnificent Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’
