THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A VERY ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 30th/ NOVEMBER 2017.

We managed a little lie in this morning, Brenda then had a quick shower, I’m having mine later, for our breakfast we had a ‘ treat’ of ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of tea, to set us up for another day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ We then sorted out the shopping list for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels, down to Sabinillas, on the local bus, for the weekly shopping.

Yesterday afternoon saw the last of the rain, overnight it stayed dry and this morning we awoke to bright blue skies and the sun out, it’s still very ‘ crisp’ especially in the shade. It looks like the ‘ wet-stuff’ has blown over, for now, tomorrow is forecast to be dry & sunny but only reaching 17 degs, overnight down to 3/5 degs, cold for the time of the year, over the weekend it’s staying the same and next week is now looking dry, settled, hovering on the 16/17 degs mark, 6/7 degs during the night, hopefully keeping the wet stuff away next Friday/ Saturday  for the ‘ Manilva Gastronomic Food Festival’! Watch this space

Our friend Araceli has just dropped off five beautiful ‘ Pointsettia’s’  for inside(3) & outside(2) - they come from her charity stall, it’ means that we will start on the ‘Xmas’ decorations this weekend, including putting up our new tree, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, Sandra & Bill ( the Lumberjack!) are going out into the woods to find theirs!

See the ' Pointsettia's' below!

I have just been along to the local cash machine at the bank and on the way back took the rubbish sack down to the waste bins down at the junction at the start of ‘Calle Mar’ - as our nearest underground waste bins are now taped off, it’s in the middle of all the works, this morning the ‘Contractors’ have a mini’-digger levelling off yesterdays ‘JCB’ work and exposing all the man hole/drain covers along the street, the final stretch down, from in front of ‘ Bar Rojas’ to the junction is due to be finished later.

I also called into ‘ Bar Rojas ‘ at the top of our street and introduced myself to the new tenants, Juan & Monica, they are planning to open tomorrow evening and there is a ‘free’ Paella ‘ on Saturday night! Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘ Beef & Mushroom Curry’ with Basmati Rice and twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ Friday evening is going to be a homemade ‘ Fish n’ Chip Supper’ and on Saturday, as usual we will treat ourselves to our regular ‘ Steak Night’ – this Sunday we are back to ‘roasting’- a ‘ Chicken’ with all the trimmings!

Last night after supper we watched ‘ MasterChef: The Professionals’  before the next very exciting episode of ‘ Peaky Blinders’ – an unusually soulful, sexual episode! ‘Polly’ professed her desire to get back on the ‘ game, Tommy started to ‘ flirt’ with the lady union leader and then ended up underneath the arches by the canal for a ‘ romantic tryst’ with ‘Lizzie’ – meanwhile ‘Arthur’ ‘dispatched two more ‘ Mafioso’ in a vat of car paint! The sting in the tale came at the end when ‘Polly’ met up with ‘ Charngretta’ this seasons villain, to try and set up the ‘ Don’ – he, ominously, hinted that he was one step ahead! Watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A RATHER DAMP SUNNY MANILVA;

A WET, CRISP, COLD BUT STILL SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 29th/ NOVEMBER 2017   “ 46TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY “

We had a nice lie in this morning before the church bells started ringing, calling the ‘ faithful’ to Mass, there was no early noise from the  Contactors ‘JCB’ – it’s just reached the top of our street by lunchtime, we then freshened up and had our normal breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea before getting this evenings supper on the go.

See below the ‘JCB’ outside the ‘Town Hall ‘ at the top of our street!

Overnight the forecasted heavy rain hit us, but by this morning it has passed over and it’s now clear, crisp & sunny, we are still in for more of the wet stuff, later & tomorrow, then on Friday and over the weekend into next week, it’s back to normal for the time of the year, with clear blue skies, crisp & dry, with the sun out during the day, hovering on the 16/17 degs mark during the day but down to 3/5 degs during the night, sadly at the end of next week we could be in for more rain, over the ‘ Manilva Gastronomic Food Festival’ watch this space.

This evening for our  ‘ Anniversary ‘ supper we are having my famous ‘ Beef & Mushroom Curry ‘ with Brenda’s famous ‘ Basmati’ rice, Garden Peas & sliced Banana, no doubt we will have a nice glass of something ‘ chilled ‘ – we will celebrate in a little bit more ‘ style’ next week on Tuesday when we are in Malaga to see the ‘ Xmas’ lights, on the ‘Pensioners ‘ coach trip!

This evening after supper we will settle down to watch the next episode of the exciting ‘ Peaky Blinders ‘ before channel hopping.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A RATHER ' DAMP' SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A COLD 'DAMP' & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 28th/ NOVEMBER 2017.

I was up first this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she shot into her duvet and we then freshened ourselves up and grabbed a quick toast & tea before walking down to the ‘Wine Centre’ to catch the local bus down to Sabinillas, Brenda went for the extra shopping to ‘ Super-Sol’ and I walked to our Bank to arrange the accounts to pay for the repairs to the car, I then dropped into the main Council offices to check on the coach trip times to go and see the Malaga ‘Xmas’ lights on Tuesday, 4-00 pm outside the ‘Wine Centre’!

I jumped into a taxi and on the way back up, to a not so sunny Manilva, collected Brenda from outside the supermarket. We then sorted things out back at the house, last night I shot down to our local Butchers in ‘Calle Inglasie’ for the diced Beef for tomorrow night’s Curry, I then, later this morning,  made a nice ‘ Comfort Soup’ by blitzing the leftover ‘Hotpot’ with a little Vegetables & Chicken stock.

While I was out, last night, there was some action in ‘Bar Rojas’ – it was being cleaned out by a couple with their children, it looks like they could be the new tenants, I will check with Lumy, when we see her! I also bumped into our friend Araceli and ordered 3 large Pointsettia’s’ from her, she sells them to locals for Charity. Finally last night I checked on the progress of the Contractors ‘JCB’- they have cleared the street up ‘ Bar Castillo’ and this morning are working their way towards the top of our street, watch this space.

See below!

Just as we set off this morning it was cold & overcast and a light drizzle had just started, it looks like it’s in for the day, no sign of the sunshine breaking through, over the next couple of days we are in for more rain getting heavy at times, then on Friday and over the weekend it’s back to normal for the time of the year, hovering on the 16/19 degs mark, overnight down to possibly 4/7 degs during the night,  next week is hopefully dry & sunny leading up to the ‘ Manilva Gastronomic Food Festival’ on Friday/Saturday 8/9th December, watch this space.

See below a picture of the beach in Sabinillas this morning with the weather front coming in!

For our supper this evening it’s going to be ‘Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet ‘ accompanied with a sauceboat of a creamy ‘Green Peppercorn ‘ sauce, with Whole Green Beans and ‘Saute’ Potatoes using diced Baby New potatoes, tomorrow morning I’m going to make a large pan of my now famous ‘ Beef & Mushroom Curry ‘ for our ‘ 46th  Wedding Anniversary’ supper!

After lunch today we will settle down to watch all the ‘Quiz’ shows that we follow and then after supper ‘channel hop’ to find something to watch, we are spoilt for choice with over 500 hundred channels to check out!
