A WET & WINDY ( DRY AT THE MOMENT) SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.
TUESDAY 31st/ MARCH 2020. “
STATE OF ALARM DAY 17 “
After freshening up we had our regular
light breakfast of fresh fruit (Banana) toast ( last slice of the Pueblo bread)
& tea before getting the day on the go, as we settle into ‘ LOCKDOWN’ for
the third week, here in sunny Manilva! ( Wet now )!!

taken over the weekend.
As we were going to bed last night, after
mid-night, as usual, as we never go to bed on the same day as we got up, it
started to rain and it has still not stopped this morning, the sky is grey and
very cloudy, with a light breeze, so by lunchtime it’s forecast to only reach
16 degs+ - overnight down to 10/11 degs+ - the ‘Costa Del Sol’ is now on ‘ Yellow
Alert’ ( see below) - the rest of the week and over the coming weekend is
staying the same, hovering in the mid’ teens’ with lots of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ –
as the breeze picks up, with just the chance on Friday of a little sunshine, by
Saturday the wind will be up to gale-force, next week is now looking a little
more settled, starting next Monday, when the sun will be back in sunny Manilva,
the rest of the week going warmer, by next Thursday up to 23degs+! Watch this
space.
“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 – PANDEMIC “
Yesterday evening as we were clapping &
whistling at 8-00 pm, as usual, Mario, the Mayor, and our neighbour, came
around from his house taking his rubbish down to the bottom of our street, it’s
also my daily chore ( masked) - on his way back I asked him if he had anymore
masks, he did and dropped them off ( 4 basic) !
Brenda is using the local shop at the
bottom of our street, when we need to, for fresh fruit & vegetables as well
as essential goods, of course masked & gloved up, otherwise we are staying
inside all the time, when needed the local Chemists along ‘ Calle Mar’ is also
very handy, for our prescription tablets etc, if we need anything else we have
the ‘ Suma’ supermarket, down the road in front of the Fire/Police stations!
The local ‘ Proteccion Civil – Civil Protection’
have just posted the latest update to all house’s in sunny Manilva, with the
rules now enforce all over Spain! See

‘ The Lockdown Party ‘ on Castle Radio FM
89.2 & Online on the WWW’ – how now joined up with another local radio
station ‘ Mix 106 FM’ – so now there are 3, with more to come, for four hours
every morning ( 8-00 am to 12-00 noon) with the two local DJs playing ‘ Happy
Music’ and requests! They also have a ‘
Mystery Voice’ Quiz on each morning, I got yesterday’s ‘Princess Ann’ and this
morning’s ‘Rowan Atkinson’! Watch this
space.

as life goes on!
For our supper this evening it’s going to
be ‘ Grilled Turkey & Pepper Brochettes ‘ – cooked on a very hot
griddle-plate – I marinate them in Vegetable Oil & Mixed Herbs, adding Baby
Mushrooms and Shallots to them, served on a bed of Brenda’s famous ‘Basmati’
Rice, with a pool of Tomato salsa on the side, accompanied with whole ‘ French’
Green Beans.

A NOW BRIGHT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.
MONDAY 30th/ MARCH 2020. “
STATE OF ALARM DAY 16 “
Well it’s the start of ‘ Week 3 ‘ in
Lockdown’ here in sunny Manilva down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – after freshening
up as I was on the breakfast rota we treated myself to a ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked
Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda – with her
favourite sliced Baby Mushrooms – seared in the bacon juice with a knob of
butter – some of which ended up in my butty also, with mugs of hot/strong tea
to start the week in the right direction!
Today has started a little cloudy as the
sun starts to break through, there is light breeze and by lunchtime as it
clears it’s going to be warm and sunny, reaching 19 degs+ - overnight down to
10 degs+ - sadly as the next windy, wet and cold ‘Atlantic’ front comes in we
are in for the rest of the week, up to Friday, being overcast, cloudy with the
return of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ – then over the coming weekend the sunshine will be
back in sunny Manilva – hovering in the high ‘ teens’ – watch this space.

Yesterday evening as we were clapping &
whistling at 8-00 pm as usual and waving to all our neighbours, at the same
time each day, in recognition of all the’ Services’ - along ‘ Calle Mar’ – at the top of our
street they all appeared, the ‘Policia Local(2) Civil Protection Ambulance
& Fire Brigade’ (2) – all flashing their lights ( blue & yellow) at the
same time ringing their horns/bells! The whole village joined in especially all
the children, as they stopped and said ‘thank you’! The ‘ Convoy’ went all
around the village!! Sorry no pictures as we can't leave the house!!
During Sunday and everyday all the main streets
are washed down and sanitized as you can see below.
From today the ‘National Government’ have imposed stricter confinement measures all over Spain, halting all non-essential
activities, as the ‘ Policia Local, Policia National, the Guardia Civil and the
Army’ – can enforce the rules with heavier fines & prison sentences!
This evening for our supper we are having a
simple ‘ Chicken N’ Chips’ – flattened, seasoned, sliced ‘Breast of Chicken’ –
pan-seared on a very hot griddle-plate – then finished with a ‘Lime & Balsamic
Vinegar Butter’ salsa, served with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and
triple-cooked ‘ Chips’ – using large & famous ‘ Sanlucar de Barrameda’ Potatoes, from our
local shop down our street!
The ‘ Menus’ for the rest of the week have
been agreed, on Tuesday it’s going to be Grilled ‘ Turkey & Pepper
Brochettes’ with a savoury Basmati Rice, then on Wednesday I’m making my famous ‘
Chicken & Mushroom Tarragon Casserole’ – Thursday is going to be a ‘ Leftovers’
Day – as usual on Friday it will be a ‘ Fish Supper’ - Saturday will be as usual our ‘Steak N’ Frits’
night and then finally on Sunday we are having ‘ Grilled Medallions of Pork
Fillet ‘! “ We will survive “ !!
We are of course watching a lot more TV –
we are finding all sorts of different programmes & films as we channel hop
each evening, last night we ended up with back to back episodes of ‘Game of
Thrones’ – which we have never seen before, meanwhile this morning on ‘ Castle
Radio FM & Online on the WWW’ they have joined up with ‘ Heart 104.FM’ as well
as live on Facebook and various ‘ Aps’ to broadcast a live ‘LOCKDOWN PARTY’ each morning between 8-00 am to 12 noon, with
two ‘DJs’! Watch this space.
