THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A VERY ' CRISP' AND NOW SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 30th/ NOVEMBER 2018.

We were both up early this morning, after a quick freshen up we set off on our travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, we called into ‘ itZabar’ for toast & tea before ‘Mercadona ‘ opened, Brenda carried on to the ‘ English Bookshop’ to post all the Christmas Cards, to family & friends ‘World Wide’!

Meanwhile I did our main shop, before Brenda joined me, to come back up the hill to unload back at the house, I then put the car away in the underground car park.

This morning has started a little grey & overcast, with a very light/fine drizzle, the sun is breaking though and the clouds are clearing, as there is a light breeze, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 19 degs+ - overnight down to 9 degs! The weekend is staying the same, dry, settled with patchy clouds and the sun out at times, next week is going to be settled, dry & sunny, getting warmer, up into the low 20s, at times, watch this space.

This afternoon the workmen finished the side wall of the Town Hall with the new large Marble Tiles, as you can see below, next week they are doing the front wall, on a very beautiful day in sunny Manilva.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Pan-Seared Fillets of Hake’ – dusted in seasoned flour and finished ‘ A La Meuniere’ style, in foaming Lemon/Parsley Butter, with Broccoli Florets & Garden Peas and Parsley New Potatoes, accompanied with my homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce. On Saturday it’s going to be ‘ Grilled Fillet steaks’ with all the trimmings, then on Sunday, for a change, we are having ‘ Braised Lamb Shanks in Minted Gravy’ – with assorted fresh, local Vegetables and ‘Pommes Rissolees’

On Saturday Lee is calling in, after he returns from the UK, to re-set the ‘ IPTV’ system with a new ‘URL’ etc, so hopefully we will back on the ‘UK’ system, in time for all the sports coverage as well as all the programmes that we follow, watch this space.

Iv'e grown up !

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

A STILL VERY ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 29th/ NOVEMBER 2018.   “ OUR 47th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY “

We managed a little lie in this morning despite the noise from the workmen up our street, tiling the ‘Town Hall’ wall! We then freshened up as we listened to ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2 FM & Online on the WWW’ as Andrew Charles, on his ‘ Breakfast Show’ played our request, it started with Dame Vera Lyn singing the ‘Anniversary Waltz ‘ – then he used my ‘Fanfare’ opening from my old live show, as he played a track by Joe Bonanmassa!

We then had for our ‘Anniversary Breakfast’ of my famous ‘ Campo Scrambled Eggs on toast topped with Smoked Salmon’ – with a nice glass of ‘ Bucks Fizz Cava ‘ Thank you to the family for your Cards and on ‘Facebook’ for all the messages/likes from all over the World, especially the extended family and friends, as well as ex-staff and all the locals in the village!

PS; We had a nice reminder from our old customers/friends, Terry & Alma,  our first Xmas Card, who now live outside Caen, in Northern France, of their 25th Wedding Anniversary Party’ at the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’ when they had ‘ Bernard Manning’ as their surprise guest, all those years ago, as it’s now their “ 60th Wedding Anniversary “ shortly !!

PPS; We also had in the post yesterday a nice ‘Post Card’ from ‘Soderkoping’ in Sweden, from Mikael & Ylva, who we met earlier in the year, thanks!

It was then time to make contact with Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne on the ‘ Skype’ video, they are both looking very well and are looking forward to Lyn’s birthday celebration with her family on Sunday, it’s her birthday next Tuesday, she has received all the cards from the three sisters etc!

This morning has started very ‘ Crisp’ to say the least, the sun is now breaking through and by lunchtime it’s due to reach 19/20 degs+ - on one forecast 22 degs! The rest of the week and over the weekend is looking dry, warm & sunny, with at times patchy clouds, hovering in the low 20s, going a little warmer at times, next week is now looking the same, all week, but by next weekend going a little cooler, when you are out you need a jumper, at least, we are also using the two Oil Heaters at times, as it’s still cold & fresh with the light breeze, watch this space.

At lunchtime we went up to ' Bar Castillo ' and were able to sit outside in the warm sunshine for a nice cool drink and some Tapas, taking in the sights & sounds on a very sunny Manilva, as the World passed us by!

For our ‘ Celebration Supper ‘ this evening we are having our ‘ Treats’ – Brenda is having a ‘ Confit of Duck Leg ‘ with Spinach & ‘Pommes Rissolees’ while I’m having a ‘Aged Rib-Eye’ Steak – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare – Pink, no Blood’- then left to rest and topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg, served with  whole ‘ French’ Green Beans, with of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips!

We are taking things very easy today, relaxing and as usual now doing nothing, because we can, after all those years of not celebrating our birthdays/anniversaries on the actual day!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL VERY ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 28th/ NOVEMBER 2018.

Just a little lie in this morning as some knocking/drilling sounds came down our street, they are working on the lower walls around the Town Hall, they are preparing the walls, we think,now confirmed by the Mayor, Mario, to place a new ‘Marble Tiled’ front around the bottom, we saw all the very expensive dark-Green Marbled tiles being delivered the other day, by our neighbour opposite, who is ‘ Juan -the Tiler’ – the “King” of Marble! Watch this space.

See below, it's all happening in sunny Manilva today!

I then freshened up and shot off on my travels, after a quick mug of tea, down to the main ‘ Medical Centre’ in Sabinillas for my appointment with the ‘Practice Nurse’ for my monthly ‘ V12’ injection, I then carried on to the ‘English Butchers’ in Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’

When I returned the ‘ Second Chef’ was on the breakfast rota, so she treated me to ’Toasted English Pork Sausage Butties’- smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce, with another mug of strong/sweet tea! We have now agreed the ‘Menu’s’ for the rest of the week; this evening it’s last week’s  ( from the deep-freeze) ‘Chicken & Mushroom Curry’ with Basmati Rice.

Then tomorrow for our 47th ‘Wedding Anniversary’ we are starting the day’s celebrations with ‘Campo Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon’  with a nice glass of chilled Cava, at lunchtime, we are going out locally ( Calle Mar) for an ‘ al fresco drink’- as tomorrow evening we are now staying at home, we will have our ‘Anniversary Supper’ when we go across to Malaga in December to see the ‘ Xmas Lights’ in Calle Larios! Brenda has asked for her favourite ‘ Confit of Duck Leg ‘ and I have treated myself to an ‘ Aged Rib-Eye’ Steak ‘ ( English Butchers- this morning!)

On Friday it’s going to be a ‘Fish n Chips’ supper, Saturday is our regular ‘ Steak Night’ and then on Sunday, for a change we are having ‘Braised Lamb Shanks in Minted Gravy ’!

We have another beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ – it was very ‘crisp’ & sunny as I set off down to Sabinillas this morning, the sky was bright blue and the Mediterranean was sparkling as the sun came up, last night we had the most spectacular ‘Red Sunset’ – the forecasts all show that we are in for a settled period as the new ‘Atlantic Warm Front’ comes in, by lunchtime it will be hovering on the 19/20 degs+ mark, overnight down to 9/10 degs, we now need the ‘Oil Heater’ on in the evening, in the lounge, the rest of the week and over the weekend is looking settled with more of the same, next week is going to be the same, sunny with patchy clouds, crisp & sharp, as there is a light breeze at times,  hovering on the 20 degs mark, hopefully the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ has gown away, watch this space.

See below the Beach front this morning down in Sabinillas.

So at the moment we are back on ‘Spanish TV’ – channel hopping, mostly very old Cowboy/Pirate films etc! Hopefully on Saturday Lee is going to call in to install the new ‘URL’ on the ‘IPTV’ system, watch this space.
