A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA AROUND THE STREETS TODAY;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA'

HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 30th/ APRIL 2014.

It’s going to be another ‘Helluva’ hot one in sunny Manilva today; we are just pottering about catching up with the chores, Brenda is washing, drying, ironing, cleaning, polishing and any other ‘ing’ that she can find to do! She is getting back to her old self but is still not right so she has an appointment with the doctor on Monday morning for a check up; meanwhile I’ am as you can see up in the office reading any E-Mails, checking out Facebook, reading the on-line newspapers and watching the news – I’ve just updated my ‘Twitter’ account with a new picture and heading, it looks rather good – ‘Tweet’ me!!

We have decided not to make a’ Dish of the Day’ as we normally do on a Wednesday so tonight’s supper is going to be pan-fried ‘Chicken Wings’ which I get from the butcher, he cuts them from all the fresh Chickens as they are used, he then trims and cuts them in two, they are very cheap and tasty – in fact they are ‘Gordon Ramsey’s favorite thing to eat – I don’t know if that’s a recommendation or not! Baked potato and a mixed salad to accompany them, we eat them warm, Brenda likes to pick then with her fingers and I prefer to take all the meat of the bones before attacking them!

Tomorrow here in Spain it’s the ‘May Day’ bank holiday so it makes it a long weekend as the ‘Workers’ tend to take off the Friday as well and make into a longer bank holiday! For supper we are having my famous ‘Sexton Stacked Burgers’ with a treat – a few fresh Frits!

This evening after supper I will shoot upstairs to the office to watch the second leg semi-final game of the ‘UEFA Champions League’ as Chelsea welcome Atletico Madrid on the large PC via my ‘First Row Live Football’ – will it be an all Spanish final in Lisbon or will ‘Mr. Mourinho’ make it back home to Portugal ?!

So 'Mr. Mourinho' won't be going home - Chelsea 1 - Atletico Madrid 3 - which means that it will be an all Madrid final in Lisbon !!

Last night after the football we watched the late film, another re-make of the classic “ The Three Musketeers’ from 2011 – this time with a fairly un-know cast except for Orlando Bloom and James Corden,both over ‘acting’ in a rather lavish and spectacular, at times new version.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 29th/APRIL 2014.

This morning it was the sun that got us up, the weather at the moment and for the rest of the week and into next is hot sunshine and no breeze, clear blue skies and getting hotter, today its 29/31 degs! It’s also warmer during the night so we are already changing to our summer covers on the bed.

After breakfast we decided to go across to Estepona to the car hypermarket for Oil & Coolant as it’s a lot cheaper, we then dropped down through the town and called in ‘Carrefore’ to have a look around, first to check out the camera’s as I’ am planning to get a new Nikon later in the year, not much in stock so it means that we will go across to the larger ‘Las Palomas’ shopping mall and hyper shops behind Algeciras some time next week; I was also looking for a light cotton bathrobe for the summer at the same time ,no luck also! We did call into the ‘Josh-Stick/Oils’ shop for some scented oil for the burner on our coffee table – success!

Last night I had an E-Mail from Bedwyr over in North Wales with an up-date on the exhibition/project at the ‘Oriel Mostyn Art Gallery’in Llandudno; it has been very well received, including a review in the ‘Guardian’ guide last Saturday, everybody has said that it has brought back very many happy memories of the Hotel 70* He is sending us a signed print from the model that the animators made; to watch the film you can go to – bedyrwilliams.wista.com/projects/olookharg3 – bear in mind that he used some artistic license with the interior and in his own words “ Be warned the film is a little strange” !!

So this evening for supper we are having ‘Pan-fried Calves Liver’ with English Pork Sausages, Smoked Bacon, sautéed Mushrooms and grilled Tomato, fried Onion rings and the rest of last night’ ‘Spaghetti Milanaise’ – yesterday our next door neighbor Anna passed in through the back kitchen window some lovely fresh large Broad Beans, so I’ am making them into a local ‘Dish’ after cooking and shelling them I will toss them with a little Garlic and Smoked Bacon sippits!

It will then be time to watch the second leg semi-final of the ‘UEFA Champions League’ between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on TVE 1 – last nights film was one that we had not seen before, for a change “ The Cold Light of Day” from 2012 – it’s a CIA/Mossad spy story filmed in Spain and mostly in the center of Madrid starring Henry Cavill,Bruce Willis( Briefly!) Sigourney Weaver as the baddie and Veronica Echegui as the love interest – watch it to the end to catch the night-time car chase through the streets in the center of Madrid!

Real Madrid won 0-4 - 0-5 on aggregate to reach the final - totally out-playing the Germans!!

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA AT LUNCHTIME TODAY;

SUNDAY EVENING AT THE 'WINE CENTRE THEATER' PLAYS/ACTING;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF ANOTHER WEEK;

MONDAY 28th/APRIL 2014.

We were awoken this morning by the street cleaning machine as it went past our bedroom window; the sun is out and its going to be another hot one, yesterday it reached 29/30 degs and today the forecast is for 25/27 degs – more of the same all this week and into the weekend!

Yesterday evening as we were out for a walk with Scruffy we bumped into, not literally, a very nice lady with her young son, she was obviously pregnant and introduced her self as the nurse that looked after me in hospital back in the end of February when I had a nasty bowl infection; Gema Lopez was visiting her family in the village, she’s a local girl, born & bred and introduced herself to us as we didn’t recognize her out of uniform and with her hair down, she enquired after my heath and we had a nice chat, she’s expecting twin-girls!
We wish her all the very best and it was nice to see her again in different circumstances!

This morning our Pensions have arrived into out Spanish Bank account, this month they have gone up a small amount due to the increase from the English government and as it so happens the ‘Euro’ has also picked up a bit at the same time – result! Fingers crossed for Thursday when the transfer from our English bank account happens with some annuities payment that goes into the account monthly!

At lunchtime we went for our walk with Chispa around the village and ended up sat in the 'Plaza de la Vendimia' taking in the sights,our neighbours, the sounds,the water fall & fountain and the smells,coming from the house's along the top as we enjoyed the tranquillity of a very hot and sunny Manilva. See the pictures above of a 'Helluva' Blue sky!

Last night was the final evening in the ‘Manilva Cultural’ week taking place in the ‘Wine Centre Theater’ – so it was time for some small ‘Plays’ performed by the local including our neighbours Marta and her father! See the pictures above.

Late last night I watched the ‘Argentinean Motor GP’ in the early hours of Monday morning, due to the time difference, it was very exciting as Marc Marquez won after overtaking Lorenzo and his team mate Pedrosa also managed to get past to make it 1/2 for Honda and a Spanish1/2/3!

At the official ‘Weigh in’ this morning it was a good news and a bad news day; Brenda has finally lost a kilo but I have put on 2 kilo’s after my initial 3 kilo loss last week – I blame the potatoes last night! The menus for the week are planned, tonight we are having ‘Escalope of Pork Schnitzels; with ‘Spaghetti Milanaise’ – then on Tuesday its pan-fried Calves Liver with English Pork Sausages and Smoked Bacon before Wednesday’s Chicken, yet to be decided dish – Thursday is left over day and Friday fish!

After supper this evening we will catch up with all the news,sport and weather for the rest of the week before finding something to watch. Its another big week in football with two semi-final second-leg matches taking place, tomorrow its Bayern Munich v Real Madrid on TVE1 and then on Wednesday Chelsea v Atletico Madrid!

" CALLE SAN VICENTE " THIS EVENING IN SUNNY MANILVA;

LIVERPOOL " ANFIELD " NOW !!

SATURDAY EVENING AT THE' WINE CENTRE THEATER' POTTERY.FLAMENCO.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 27th/ APRIL 2014.

Just a little lie in this morning at the start of yet another glorious day in sunny Manilva; it looks like the weather is the same for next week, no plans yet just taking things easy. One day we will go across to the ‘Poligamo- Industrial Estate’ in Estepona for some cheap Oil and Coolant for the car.

Today we are relaxing and freshening our self’s up before we go for a walk with both of the dogs as ‘Scruffy; is coming for the day with us later; this afternoon I will be watching the Liverpool v Chelsea game upstairs in the office on the large PC.

Oh " B----r " !! Liverpool 0 - Chelsea 2 !!  Not the end of the world - but ?! City have just won 0-2 so they are now back in the driving seat to win !! Meanwhile Ateltico Madrid won 0-1 and are now pretty certain to win here!!- But late on here Barcelona beat Villarreal 2-3 and are still in with a slim chance!!!

Tonight for our supper we are having ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ cooked on the griddle with Carrots in Ginger. Diamond-cut Green Beans and as a treat a small amount of our favorite ‘Breton’ potatoes –  diced boiled potatoes tossed with chopped Onions, Mushrooms and Red & Green Peppers in foaming butter! And yes of course a sauce boat of my famous 'Charcutiere' sauce -  Oh dear it’s the ‘Weigh in’ on Monday morning!

Yesterday we had a good film day as we watched three and missed one! In the afternoon after the football we chose to watch from six films “ K19 The Widowmaker” from 2002 with Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson about a Russian Nuclear submarine facing various disasters on a voyage- a story based on an actual event! Then after supper we watched two films at the same time, don’t ask! – “ The American” from 2010 with George Clooney and Thekla Reuten about a assassin with no heart! – and on another channel a re-make of the classic 1957 film “ 3:10 to Yuma” from 2007 with Russell Crowe as the baddie and Christian Bale as the goodie – watch out for the final shoot-out at the end!

Finally it was “ Wyatt Earp” from 1994 with Kevin Costner and a very large ‘Ensemble’ cast – it was on late on the channel with the longest commercial breaks 6/7 minutes which makes the film nearly45 minutes longer! So we didn’t catch it!!
