A GREY & OVERCAST AND WET SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 3RD/  MARCH 2017.

We were both up early this morning as we had to take the dogs out for their first walk of the day, ‘Charlie’ sleeps downstairs all night and then comes and taps me with his paw when he is ready to go out, just to remind me he jumped on top of me! ‘Scruffy’ as usual sleeps upstairs with us, he goes between his bed on the floor and then in the middle of our bed!! We shot out to beat the rain which is due later,  I then carried on down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.

Brenda saw ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she shot into her duvet as usual, she’s back with un next week for four days as I have my appointment at the hospital next Friday afternoon for my ‘ Anestesia’ review, ‘ Charlie ‘ is with us until next Wednesday evening and ‘ Scruffy ‘ is here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ day by day, Adrian is not very well and is waiting to hear about an operation for his ulcers/ abscess’s, he could be in over the weekend, Rose is keeping in touch.

I was first into ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop, I then popped into the  ‘ English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers, I managed to park outside the ‘ Movistar ‘ shop, so I checked out the arrangements to install the  ‘Fiber Optic ‘ system for our landline & internet connection, they are due to reach out street in a month’s time,  I will call back and open the new account then, they handle all the details and cancel the old system with ‘Jazztel ‘ – at the same time I’ve reserved the ‘ Black Box ‘ TV System with our friend Pete. Watch this space.

I then carried on to the local market at the end of the promenade for our fresh flowers and wall plants, finally I called into ‘ Super Sol ‘ for the ‘ English’ essentials before coming back up the hill to the village.

This morning started grey & overcast with clouds, there is the threat of rain in the air, it’s due to hit us later, we have the waterproofs ready for our ‘ Doggy ‘ walking duties then! The wind is a little chilly, to say the least, and is blowing in a different direction. Tomorrow it’s more of the same before we get back to normal on Sunday, sunshine and blue sky, getting warmer each day next week, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are keeping things plain & simple ‘ Pan Seared Fillets of Hake’ dusted in seasoned flour, lots of Lemon wedges, Garden Peas & Parsley New Potatoes, tomorrow evening it’s going to be a large ‘Grilled Entrecote Steak ‘ with all the trimmings, Sunday’ menu is yet to be decided, watch this space.

Yesterday evening after supper we watched the new programme on ‘ Channel 4 ‘ A Very British Hotel ‘ – hilariously misnamed – the former ‘ Hyde Park Hotel ‘ is now the ‘ Mandarin Oriental ‘ and is a magnet for Middle Eastern guests, they abandon their supercars in the road outside, dump armfuls of unworn new clothes, to be unwrapped and dry-cleaned, then order dinner in the rooms/suites, 20 courses, a plate of everything the kitchen serves, to be tasted and largely thrown out uneaten!

Not one of the staff in this ‘ very British Hotel ‘ is from Britain, the  ‘ French ‘ General Manager pointed out that the work is too hard, the hours too long and the pay too poor to attract anyone but immigrants?! ‘ Servile ‘ staff are eager to serve and please someone else, not a trait of the British! Back in the 70/80s this was not the case, in fact they were all very ‘ English ‘ – with one or two of the top jobs going to France, our favourite Restaurant Manager at the ‘ Hyatt Carlton Tower ‘ was one of the classic ‘ French Restaurateurs ‘ of the old school.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
