A VERY HOT & HUMID SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 27th / SEPTEMBER 2018.

NEWS UPDATE:

THE BLOG WILL BE BACK ON MONDAY 1st/ OCTOBER 2018.

Last Friday lunchtime just as the banking system was closing for the weekend my computer system came under a virus attack, we then had a landline phone call saying it was ‘Microsoft Security ‘ – could they help? Stupidly I fell for it and was subsequently hacked & scammed ! They took over the computer, froze the screen & mouse and then proceeded to hack into our ‘PayPal’ account- changing the password & later into our online Banking Account, this went on for nearly five hours, before giving me back the system with a starter password, controlled by them!

On Saturday morning it carried on again, before they disappeared, I then tried over the weekend to contact ‘Help/Hotlines’ to report the attack, with no luck, we also had more phone calls(2) over the weekend offering more support from the same ‘ Company’!

Over the weekend we also seeked the advice of our dear friend Brian, over in England, as he works in online Fraud/Security, for a major online Gaming company, as well as speaking to Tim & Thea up in Mojacar!

So on Monday morning I was up very early and shot down to Sabinillas to our Bank, to wait for it to open at 8-30 am, the Assistant Manager, Roberto, who looks after our account, was on holiday, the four staff on duty including the new Manager didn’t speak a word of English, as the Bank advertises, I then threw a ‘ Wobbler’ – a Spanish lady at the cash desk, responded and gave them a name of a Lady Lawyer, Natalia, her boss,  who would translate on the phone, she then sorted out the necessary arrangements for us, they cancelled our two Debit Cards, issued a new Password to the online Banking, etc, after deciding not to close the account for a new one, due to the complex standing orders/ incoming payments etc. Our Bank Account, at that moment had not been hacked, and showed the same balance as from Friday morning!

I then arranged to meet Natalia, at her suggestion, at the main Guardia Civil’ Headquarters in Sabinillas to make a ‘Denunciar’ - where she gave them all the necessary details, documents, etc, to report the problem.

Next on Tuesday morning we went across to Estepona to see Ben, at ‘ PC Macs.es’ as he set up the new computer system three years ago, for his advice/help, I then took the computer ‘Stack’ back across to him, for him to clear all the virus’s , check all the systems, fix any problems and give it a good service, at the same time changing all the Passwords as needed, I collected it yesterday lunchtime and then installed later in the early evening, when I then discovered that our Bank Account had been hacked by a ‘PayPay’ transfer transaction first thing on Monday morning before we had the chance to stop the Debit Cards, taking a large sum of money!!

I immediately ‘E-Mailed’ ‘PayPal ‘ and put in a ‘hacked’ report, about unauthorized activity on the account, with all the details, they responded later in the evening, saying that they were denying our claim, as they had determined that there was no unauthorized use!

To say that we were not happy was an understatement to say the least!!

So first thing this morning I was back down at our Bank in Sabinillas as it opened and with Natalia’s help, on the phone again, I signed all the statements, documents, copies etc and they E-Mailed them to the Banks ‘Fraud’ Department in Madrid, watch this space.

The computer system is now up back and running, with the help of Ben on the phone and Lee last night when the folks picked up ‘Reina’ and so over the next few days I will be checking out all the passwords etc, before re-opening the Blog on Monday.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HUMID & SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY HUMID & HOT SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 20th/ SEPTEMBER 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning as it’s our relaxing day, as the ‘ Head Chef & Staff’ are off for the day! Little prince ‘ Percy’- as usual, spent the night on the bed, after freshening up we went for our first walk of the day down to the ‘Mirador’ – keeping to the shady side of the street, at our ‘ Pensioner Pace ‘- which he keeps too! We are going to miss the little lad when he goes home on Saturday, as he’s a real character and such good company, no doubt ‘ Chispa’ will come crashing in to see all of us later.

When we returned I treated us to our favourite ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smother in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, just like the ‘ Head Chef’ makes them! We then got the shopping list ready for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.

This morning the sun had broken through earlier, the sky was clearing and there was just a very light breeze, making it warm & humid, even in the shade, by lunchtime, like yesterday afternoon when it was hot, it’s due to reach 28/29 degs+ then tomorrow and over the weekend it’s going a little warmer, partly cloudy at times, hovering in the low 30s, next week is now looking dry, warm &sunny, with a few clouds at times, again hovering in the high 20s/low 30s, - overnight down to 20/21 degs.- then going a little cooler towards the weekend, watch this space.

" Sunny Manilva " - this morning !

See below the first visit of the “ Seaborn Ovation “ – berthed at the Pier Head in Liverpool yesterday.

And last night !

When we were out last night for our last walk of the day we bumped into a couple of English friends who have an apartment in the block opposite the ‘Plaza de la Vendemia’- Alfred & Jane, who we have known for a few years, we have lot’s of mutual friends in the local ‘Expat Community’ – he asked us to join them on Tuesday evening, at ‘ Cafeteria Nacho’  for a glass of Cava, as it’s Jane’s 70th Birthday, it just fits in as we are out on Monday celebrating my 73rd Birthday, and on both days we are ‘ Doggy-Free’- as ‘ Chico’ goes home on Sunday, after a two night sleep-over, and is not back with us until Wednesday for his two-week+ holiday!

We are taking things very easy today, because we can, then this evening we are going out for our supper, up to the top of our street, to ‘ Bar Rojas ‘ for a nice ‘ Tapas’ supper, sat outside in the hopefully cooler night air, Monica has a nice, large, selection of fresh Tapas as well as various ‘Combo-Platters’ – watch this space.

Just a quick update on last night football results from the ‘ UEFA Champions League’ first rounds; Manchester Utd won 0-3 with two ‘ slow’ penalties from Pogba, Real Madrid won 3-0 with a goal from Bale and a ‘barely recognisable rabble’ – Manchester City – lost at home 1-2 ?!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A CLEARING ' MISTY' SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 19th/ SEPTEMBER 2018.

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she arrived late so Brenda got up to see her in, as I had to shoot down to the main ‘Medical Centre’ in Sabinillas, to make an appointment to see the Nurse, for my 4 weekly ‘V12’ injection, they fitted me later this afternoon, when I returned Brenda came back after taking  ‘ Percy’ for his first walk of the day down to a ‘Misty’ Mirador!  We then had our regular light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea.

As I set off there was a thick sea mist enveloping the village, it was very humid/close, as it’s still very warm, even the locals are saying how hot it is for the time of the year, by lunchtime reaching 29 degs+ after the sun breaks through, yesterday it was very hot & sunny, all day, with a clear blue sky, over the next couple of days and into the weekend it’s going to get a little warmer, hovering in high20s/low 30s, next week, starting on Monday 24th September ( My 73rd Birthday ) the forecast is for a hot start to the week, going a little cooler, as there will be a light breeze coming along, with patchy clouds, at times,  with still the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, watch this space.

This evening in the ‘ UEFA Champions League’ Manchester City welcome Lyon & Real Madrid are at home to Roma, and Manchester Utd will have to play on a plastic pitch, in Bern, Switzerland, against ‘BSC Young Boys’  Last night Barcelona won 4-0 with another ‘Messi’ hat-trick and Liverpool beat ‘ PSG’ 3-2!

On our last walk of the evening, when we take in the cooler night air, we bumped into Juan & Paqui from ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ –back from their holiday in Motril, they are only opening for breakfast until the 1st October, when they will re-open as usual, this means that we will have to see who is open tomorrow evening, as ‘Bar Ocaña’is on holiday, ‘ Cafeteria Nacho’ is closed on a Thursday, after returning from his holiday, ‘Cafe Plaza’ have re-opened after having a new kitchen built, ‘Bar Rojas’ looks like they are back to normal opening times, or we can walk down/around to ‘ Bar Pedreta ‘ – and finally ‘Bar Antiguedades’ which is now serving ‘ Greek Food ‘ ?! Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Marinated Spanish Lamb Cutlets ‘ – ( Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon Juice & Tarragon ) – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Pink ‘ with a small selection of fresh, local Vegetables and ‘ Parsley’ New Potatoes, which are at the moment, very tasty, not forgetting the special ‘Mint Sauce’- sugar & Malt Vinegar!

After supper we will settle down to channel hop, to find something to watch, on the new ‘IPTV’ system, if it’s working, as at the moment we have a few technical difficulties, from time to time. “ Fingers Crossed “

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY WARM & HUMID SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 18th/ SEPTEMBER 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning, little prince ‘ Percy’ slept all night on the bed, he snuggles up as the night goes on, after freshening up we took him out for his first walk of the day down to the ‘Mirador’- keeping to the shady side of the street, when we returned, as the ‘Head Chef’ was on the breakfast rota, we had ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP ‘ Brown sauce – open on brown, as usual, for Brenda, with mugs of ‘ PG ‘ Tips tea.

Before we went out, as we were getting ready we were listening to ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’  as usual, we both guessed the mystery 1 second track straight away, it was ‘ Cyndi Lauper’ – “ Girls Just Want to Have Fun “

After breakfast we had our ‘ Menu’ planning meeting; as it’s still ‘ Hot’ in the kitchen, we have agreed with the ‘Head Chef’ to still keep things simple, for now, this evening we are having ‘Homemade Burgers’ from our Butcher in ‘Calle Iglesia’ – ‘  Big Cheese’ for Brenda, using Gouda Slices, and a ‘ Big Egg ‘ for me, they are all made with crispy Coz Lettuce, sliced Tomatoes, Gherkins, crispy Smoked Bacon  & sautéed Onions, - mine topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg! – served with ‘ Basket’s of twice-cooked, hand-cut by Brenda, “ Stringfellows “ !! Not forgetting the ‘Heinz’ Tomato Ketchup.

See below, not a very good picture, taken with my Mobile !

Tomorrow evening it’s going to be ‘ Marinated Spanish Lamb Cutlets ‘ with a small selection of seasonal, local, vegetables, then on Thursday we have given the ‘ Head Chef & Staff’ the night off, we will go along to ‘ Bar Castillo’ for a Tapas supper, as they have returned from their holidays, Friday will be ‘ Fish Night’ & Saturday ‘ Steak Night’ – as usual Sunday is TBC, as on Monday we are going out for supper, on my birthday, to hopefully, the ‘ Kinnaree Thai Restaurante ‘ down in the Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ Watch this space.

The sun has broken through early this morning and the sky was bright blue, as we set off, there was no breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 30 degs+ - the rest of the week and over the weekend is looking the same, warm & sunny, with patchy clouds at times, hovering on the 30 degs mark, over night down to 21/22 degs, normal for the time of the year, next week is looking settled, warm & sunny, a little cooler as the week goes on as there is a light breeze, watch this space.

See below the beach this morning, back to normal!

This evening it’s the start of the ‘ UEFA Champions League ‘ football as Liverpool welcome ‘PSG’ - Barcelona are at home to PSV Eindhoven & Tottenham travel to Inter Milan.

Yesterday evening after supper we watched the second episode of “ Black Earth Rising “ – we missed the first episode last week as the ‘IPT system was offline,  we are going catch it on the ‘I Player’ - the main protagonist is a Tutsi refugee who escaped the Rwanda genocide and was raised by upper class white parents in London, Kate ( Michaela Coel) – now an international Human Rights Lawyer, John Goodman ( Roseanne ) is a American barrister defending a Rwandan liberator turned mercenary, it all goes ‘ Pear-Shaped’ as an killer, disguised as a ‘Police Motorcyclist’ shoots 6/7 people, I lost count, one of them the mother of Kate, played by Harriet Walter, who is also a lawyer, the plot thickens, watch this space.
