THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A WARM SUNNY MANILVA;

A CRISP & WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 29th / FEBRUARY 2016 !

We had a little lie in this morning before ‘Reina’ was dropped off by Lee, Daniela is away on business in London, I then took ‘ Charlie’ out for his first walk of the day, when we returned I treated ourselves to ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties’ ( HP sauce !) with a mug of steaming tea, well its ‘Bank Holiday Monday’ here in the village, not in the rest of Spain, after the festivities of yesterdays ‘ Dia de Andalucia’ The Council workmen were out and Calle Mar is already looking clean and tidy.

Its the most perfect day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ with a very bright & clear blue sky, there is no breeze and the sunshine is warm, by lunchtime it will reach 20 degs, over the next couple of days we are in for more of the same. Perfect drying weather so is looks like I will be putting more washing out to dry!

I sent in an E-Mail request to ' Castle Radio FM 89.2'  to cheer Brenda up at the start of the week, Andrew played 'Bueno Sera' by Louis Prima and gave her a good chat/ spot on the ' Breakfast Show' - still no news on my Sunday Show - watch this space!

After breakfast I got this evenings supper ready ‘ Escalope of Chicken Breast’ cooked in foaming Lime Butter with whole fine Green Beans & Baby Mushrooms, tomorrow night we are having ‘Minute Entrecote Steak’ with Broccoli Florets.

At lunchtime Man & Anna called in for a chat and a gossip, Mano came and helped me fold the sheets off the washing line up on the roof patio and I then put the next wash on the go, a large duvet!

Over at Wembley in the ‘Capital One Cup Final’ Liverpool lost to Manchester City in a penalty shoot out, after extra time, 3-1 when the Manchester City second goalkeeper Willy Caballero saved 3 penalties! Here in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona beat Savilla 2-1 and are now 8 points ahead of Atl Madrid and 12 points ahead of Real Madrid as they won their 34th consecutive game!!

Last night after supper we watched over on BBC 1 the second episode of “ The Night Manager “ which was very exciting and gripping.

PS; One of our Pensions has just arrived in our Spanish Bank Account and is down on last months, yet again, as the Euro value drops against the Pound as it reacts to the upcoming ‘European Union’ “ Brexit” vote, with more to come, as well as the other World problems, this is now a serious matter that is effecting us for the foreseeable future!!

" DIA DE ANDALUCIA " IN MANILVA THIS LUNCHTIME;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY CRISP SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY. " DIA DE ANDALUCIA "

SUNDAY 28th / FEBRUARY 2016   “ DIA DE ANDALUCIA “

 Well ‘ Charlie’ didn’t wake us too early this morning, he slept all night downstairs on the settee next to Brenda, I then took him for his first walk of the day, when we got back we all had our breakfast’s before settling down, I then dived in to the kitchen, after freshing up, to get this evenings vegetables ready ‘Cabbage with Alsegas & Baby Carrot Batons to go with the ‘Scouse’ that is already made; its “ Global Scouse Day “ as well as the “ Dia de Andalucia “ !!

The rain that was forecast has not arrived so we have a beautiful very crisp & sunny day here in sunny Manilva, the sky is blue and there is stiff breeze but its dry so all the festivities are taking place up on the main stage outside the Town Hall as you can see in the pictures above. From Monday onwards its getting warmer with more sunshine so the week ahead is looking a lot better. This afternoon I’m putting the washing out to dry ‘Bed Sheets’ etc. as its such a good drying day, so I’m told!

The village is full with all the locals out in their finest and the two stages are set up ready for the live bands later, all the bars are open and busy, it will get more loud as the night goes on with all the singing, dancing and drinking – sadly this year we are only listening to it all as it happens and will raise a glass later to ‘Andaluica’!

See the pictures below of the " Manilva Combo Band " with Isobel and the leader of the 'Manilva Brass Band' - Fernando - on the bass guitar, they dedicated a number to Brenda to 'get well soon' and played it loud so as she could hear it!!

Yesterday we watched the Horse Racing from Kempton Park & Newcastle with a very exciting long distance ‘Chase’ over 25 fences, then it was time to catch the end of the Italy v Scotland game as the ‘ Scots’ won 20-36 in the ‘Six Nations Rugby’ – England then beat Ireland 20-10 and face Wales in two weeks time at Twickenham.

Real Madrid lost at home to Atl Madrid 0-1 and Ronaldo said that his team mates are not as good as him!!

Next week ‘Reina’ is back with us for four days as on Wednesday we are going across to the hospital for Brenda’s X-Ray and then to see the ‘Trauma’ Consultant , that’s if the ambulance arrives to pick us up?! Watch this space. ‘Charlie’ is with us on his holiday until next Sunday evening and ‘ Chispa’ keeps calling in everyday to see us and her friends.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY CRISP SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 27th/ FEBRUARY 2016.

We managed just a little lie in this morning as after today I will be up early each day with ‘Charlie’ who is arriving later this afternoon for his weeks holiday, the village is very quiet before all the festivities get going at lunchtime tomorrow when the ‘Manilva Brass Band’ leads the procession before the formal rising of the flag on the ‘Dia de Andalucia’

At the moment its very crisp as there is a stiff breeze, the sun is out and the sky is clear & blue, the rain has not arrived yet, no doubt later it will get wet & windy as forecast with more to come tomorrow, on Monday onwards its looking warmer and sunnier, I’ve done a sheet wash this morning but it will have to wait to go out on the roof patio on Monday!

Tim, from Old Colwyn, North Wales, called on the Skype video this morning to check up on Brenda and we also had a good catch up with all his news.

We have just watched ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’ with James Martin, who is sadly leaving the show in the next few weeks, we had our breakfast of ‘Malcolm’s’ – not ‘ Brenda’s! - Campo Poached Eggs on Toast (8/10!) with a mug of steaming tea, for our supper this evening we are having ‘Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ then left to rest before slicing it ‘French Style’ with fine whole Green Beans & some ‘Frits’ on the side.

Last night we watched the “ Six Nations Rugby Union “ down in Cardiff as Wales beat France 19-10 with another special individual try from George North.

Early this evening we will catch the game from the home of Rugby, Twickenham, as England welcome Ireland with Jonny Sexton! Tomorrow its the “ Capital One Cup Final “ as Liverpool play Manchester City at Wembley. Over here in ‘La Liga’ this evening its the ‘Derby’ game as Real Madrid play their neighbours Atl. Madrid.Then tomorrow Barcelona welcome Seviila. This afternoon before the Rugby we will watch the Horse  Racing on Channel 4 from Kempton Park, Newcastle & Lingfield Park.

Brenda is in charge of the channel hopping this evening to find a good film to watch after supper.
