A CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY " DIA DE ANDALUCIA "

TUESDAY 28th/ FEBRUARY 2017    “ DIA DE ANDALUCIA “

I was up first to see ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, we then all had a little lie in before getting the day on the go, after freshening up we had a cooked breakfast to set us up for an ‘ Helluva’ day here in sunny Manilva, Crispy Smoked Bacon, Mushrooms & Fried Eggs ( still not Campo!) with buttered toast and mugs of steaming tea.

We are going up to the top of our street later to follow all the celebrations on the stage in front of the Town Hall, then for the rest of the day and into this evening there is music, singing & dancing, the top stage is also in use, see all the pictures above that I will post later.

‘’Charlie’ is now not joining us until tomorrow lunchtime, ‘Chispa’ has been around all ready, yesterday she was in and out all day.

The sun was out early this morning and the sky is now clearing, it’s still crisp but by lunchtime it’s due to reach 23degs, the highest so far this year, the rest of the week is staying settled  but with some of the wet stuff on Friday & Saturday, the weekend is also now looking dry, fingers crossed, watch this space.

See the view along the coast this morning.

Later I’m making the ‘ Lob Scouse ‘ for this evenings supper, we are celebrating ‘ National Scouse Day ‘ at the same time, then for our dessert it’s ‘ Crepes a la Mode’ as it’s ‘ Shove Tuesday ‘ also! Tomorrow evening Lee & Daniela are joining us for supper after she returns from the UK, we are going to have ‘ Braised Steak & Onions ‘ with ‘ Fondant ‘ Potatoes.

Yesterday evening after supper we settled down to watch the new series of “ Broadchurch “ on ITV – we have not seen it before so we are going to catch up with all the old story lines – Olivia Colman & David Tennant are the two Detectives, the opening episode was a slow burner, as they started the investigation of rape, the victim was played by Julie Hesmondhalgh ( ex Coronation Street) – a very emotional and moving portrayal, the rest of the cast, Sarah Parish, Suneta Sarker, Charlie Higson, Lenny Henry and Roy Hudd are also all excellent, it’s going to very gripping and tense in the next few weeks, as there are four suspects already, watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA.

..

A CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 27th/ FEBRUARY 2017.

I was up first this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she’s here all this week, she shot into her duvet and has now settled down, after freshening up, we then had our normal breakfast of toast & tea, I then shot along to our butchers for Diced Beef ( Not Neck of Lamb ) for tomorrow ‘ Scouse ‘ When we were talking to the Swedish ladies last week the subject of ‘Lob Scouse’ came up and they of course new the dish as ‘Lapskojs ‘ – a traditional sailors dish! This confirms the tale as to where it came from – ‘Swedish Seaman’ in the Port of Liverpool many years ago!!

At the moment the Council workmen are erecting a large stage in front of the Town Hall for tomorrows celebrations of the ‘ Dia de Andalucia’ – it all kicks off with the village ‘Brass Band’ parading along Calle Mar, then the village choir sings the Andalucian ‘Anthem’ as the Green & White flag is raised, during the day all the local organizations perform, singing, dancing & plays, a glass of the local wine and a traditional piece of cake are handed out.

The Stage is Set!

At lunchtime I'm going to the surgery for my appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, for my review/check up after the results of last week’s ‘Prostrate’ consultation, she will arrange the blood tests for later this week so as they are ready for next week’s ‘ Anestesia ‘ consultation at the hospital. Watch this space. I have to go across to the ' Costa Del Sol Hospital' on Wednesday morning for the special blood test.

This morning it’s crisp & sunny, as forecast, the sun broke through earlier and the sky is blue, there is a little breeze but in the sunshine it’s warm, the rest of the week is showing more of the same but the threat of some of the wet stuff is still around over the weekend, watch this space.

See below this mornings sunrise over the Mediterranean;

This evening for our supper we are having the rest of the ‘Roast Chicken’ with a fry-up of the leftover vegetables and the rest of the ‘ Fondant’ potatoes, which we enjoyed. Tomorrow evenings it’s the ‘ Scouse’ as it’s ‘National Scouse Day’ with for the dessert ‘ Crepes a la Mode’ as it’s also ‘ Shove Tuesday’!

After supper last night we watched the second episode of ‘ SS-GB’ – the sound was a lot better as the main character played by Sam Riley gave a superb performance as he found himself trying to play both ends, the ‘SS’ & the ‘English’ resistance. He was taken to his house were his wife was killed and found the battered corpse of the young PC that was helping him, he then seduced the American journalist with his boyish charms, finally it was disclosed why the ‘SS’ were so keen to investigate the murder, they are after the plans for the ‘ Atomic Bomb’! Watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 26th/ FEBRUARY 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, the church bells started later and we have no dogs with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ Brenda had a quick shower, I’m showering later, we then had breakfast of ‘Smoked Bacon & Mushroom Butties’ with mugs of ‘ PG Tips’ to start the day in the right fashion.

PS; ' Campo' Eggs  could be back on the menu's nest week as our neighbours 'Hens' have started laying again!

Overnight the stiff breeze has dropped and it’s gone a lot milder, 11/12degs overnight and going up to 21degs today, the sun was out early and the sky is blue, the week ahead is looking fine & settled with more of the same, getting a little warmer, over next weekend there is still the chance of rain on Saturday, watch this space.

We are taking things easy today, basically doing nothing, because we can! On Monday lunchtime I have an appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, for my review/check up after the results of last week, she will also arrange an updated blood test ASAP to be ready to go and see the ‘Anestesia Consultant’ on the 10th March across at the hospital for the assessment for the ‘Prostate’ Operation. On Friday I will be out on my travels down in Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.

Next week Tuesday is the ‘ Big One’ as it’s ‘ Dia de Andalucia’ – with the Brass Band parading along Calle Mar, the dignitaries out in their finest, as they rise the flag, on the stage in front of the Town Hall, followed by music, singing & dancing.

It’s also ‘National Scouse Day ‘when all ‘ Scousers’ all over the world celebrate all things, including, of course, eating ‘ Lob Scouse’! Finally it’s ‘ Shove Tuesday ‘- so ‘ Crepes ‘ to finish!!

Meanwhile next week in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ little princess ‘ Reina’ is back with us for her normal five days from Monday to Friday, then on Tuesday evening ‘ Charlie’ is back with us for a week’s ‘ Holiday ‘ as Brain & Jan are going over to Liverpool to see all the family.

At lunchtime we went up to ' Bar Rojas ' for a drink and a light ' Tapas' lunch sat under the ' Sonbrajo' in the warm sunshine, Mario, the Mayor, was sat with friends and had just confirmed to Susanna that the work on ' Calle Mar ' being made pedestrian free is due to start in May?! It means that the traditional ' Sonbajo' will be knocked down as all the bars have to have the same umbrellas?! Also it's just as the holiday season starts?! What about the new ' Feria' date and ' Vendimia' at the start of September, will it be ready in time?! Watch this space.

This evening for our supper we are picking up a ‘ Roast Chicken’ – which I’ve ordered from the ‘ Rotisserie’ in Calle Mar, we are having for a change ‘ Fondant ‘ potatoes, barrel shaped potatoes, hand cut by the ' Second Chef' then browned in butter and nearly covered in a rich Chicken & Vegetable stock to cook in the oven,( See below ) - whole baby Green Beans and a little Mixed Salad on the side.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Everton won 2-0, the ‘La Liga’ matches are later today, Scotland won 29-13 & Ireland won 19-9 with the help of Jonny Sexton! In two weeks time it’s the highlight of the ‘National Hunt Racing’ season with the ‘ Cheltenham Festival ‘ over five days.

Finally last night we watched the last episode of ‘ Taboo ‘ – the lunacy was an absolute riot! The main character was let out of the Tower of London after poisoning himself, he then bluffed the nasty boss of the ‘East India Company’ – his sister did the decent thing and drowned herself by jumping off London Bridge, then all the main ‘ Baddies’ where set up and shot,  meanwhile the main character gathered all his cronies/followers down at the docks for a final stand against the ‘ King’s Men’

Heavily outnumbered and outgunned, carnage followed, some of them were killed, one shot and one blown up, the royal regiments were decimated, the survivors made it to the ship that he had arranged, as the set off to the Azores and then the new world under the ‘ American’ flag,  meanwhile the main ‘ Baddie’ back at the offices of the ‘ ‘East India Company’ was ‘ Blown Up ‘!!  Will it return, watch this space?!
