THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A WARM&SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A GLORIOUS & WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 31st / MARCH 2017.

As I was getting ready to go out on my travels for our weekly shopping our Doctor, Natalia, rang to ask it was possible if Brenda could go down to the surgery, earlier, for her check up appointment, so Brenda shot out of bed and got herself ready and I dropped here down to the surgery, I then carried on down to Sabinillas through the vine fields, the Mediterranean was sparking, I went into ‘ Mercadona’ for the main shop. While I was there Brenda rang to say that all was well, her knee is fine, her little infection has cleared up and all her readings are fine, Natalia has adjusted her prescriptions tablets at the same time, RESULT!

I picked up the local newspapers from the ‘English Bookshop’ before going along the promenade to the local market for fresh flowers and wall plants, I then called into the garage for petrol and to wash the car, back at the house we unloaded and I put the car away in the Council underground car park.

At lunchtime little princess ‘ Reina’ is being dropped off for her weekend sleep over, she’s with us all next week, as well, if Daniela is back in work. ‘ Scruffy ‘ is back for a sleep over on Tuesday evening.

The sun was out first this morning and the sky was bright blue as I set off, there is no breeze so it’s going to be another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – by lunchtime it’s due to reach 23 degs, making it very pleasant, the weekend is looking as good and next week we are in for more of same, it’s one of our favourite times of the year as it’s so peaceful, no holiday hoards, not too hot and cool in the evening, watch this space.

See below the view from the top of St.John's Beacon, Liverpool this morning.

And last night!

This evening for our supper we are having ‘Grilled Dab Soles’ again, they had just arrived in the fish counter in ‘ Mercadona’ – I also picked up more of the large, fresh, local, Gambas to cook ‘ A La Plancha ‘ on Sea Salt, with them we are having Broccoli Florets, Asparagus Spears, Garden Peas & Parsley New Baby Potatoes.

See below;

Tomorrow evening it’s going to be ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ with all the trimmings including deep-fried Onion Rings, on Sunday we are roasting TBC!

We are back into reading, I’ve finished my book and I’m starting on another, Brenda is also reading, when she finishers hers, we will swop, we still have our ‘ Happy Hour ‘ cocktails to start the evening, but sadly not up on the roof patio/terrace, anymore. This evening it’s our ‘Quiz Night’ before finding a film to watch later.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 30th/ MARCH 2017.

Good morning I’m back !

We had a nice in this morning after all the excitement of the past two days;

TUESDAY;

We were up at 5-30 am and I shot off across to the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ past Marbella, I signed in at the ‘A & E ‘ department and was taken up to the ‘ Admissions’ ward on the second floor, I was in a two- bed private room and was on my own for the next 24 hours, I was then given various tests, the ‘ Anesthetist Consultant ‘  came and checked me out and inserted a ‘Saline’ drip as well as giving me a pre-operation tablet, I was then dry-shaved by a very nice nurse, below the waist and rubbed all over with antiseptics!  I was told to remain in bed and would be taken up to the Operation Theatre later, I was 4th on the list.

I went up at 2-00pm and taken into the Operating Theatre, there were two Consultants, a Doctor and the Anesthetist Consultant, all with nurses, I woke up in the ‘Recovery’ ward, an hour & half later, I was hooked up to the Heart monitoring system as well as the Blood pressure, Temperature and Pulse systems! As well as the Saline drip I was also given Antibiotic drips for the next 12 hours. After an hour I was then taken back to the Admissions ward to my room,

I had the overhead TV system installed and watched the football, France v Spain friendly game, Spain won 0-2!  My supper arrived, Vegetable Soup with Bread, Spinach Tortilla with Carrots and Pineapple chunks and still water, no salt, sugar, etc. with tea later. I had to stay in bed for the next 12 hours until the Doctor came in the morning to check all my readings before letting me go! I kept in touch with Brenda all the time on our simple ‘Pay as You Go’ mobiles, at no cost as they are on the same network!

WEDNESDAY;

I was monitored all night and given a full check up at 7-00am, as the new staff took over, breakfast of bread, jam & tea with biscuits came along, the Doctor arrived on his rounds at 11-00am and gave me the all-clear to go home, I was given the necessary documents and on the way out registered at the main desk, the Hospital will ring me with the appointment with my ‘Prostate’ consultant to get the results in the next 21 days, watch this space.

PS; The hospital have just called me and the appointment is for Wednesday 26th April at 11-15am!!

I then drove back along the coast road to sunny Manilva, the underground car park was full so I carried on up to the house and decided to take Brenda out for lunch, we went down to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ to ‘La Taberna 2’ for their excellent three-course ‘Menu del Dia’ at 12-95! – we both had the Prawn & Advocado salad, Brenda had the Tortellini with Meat in a Tomato sauce and I had the Pork in Breadcrumbs with a fried Egg, for the dessert we both had the excellent ‘ Dutch Apple Pie’ with Ice cream.

After returning to the house we settled down and took things very easy, it turned out that we had been reading two books by the same author, ‘ Michael Connelly’ with Detective Harry Bosch!

THURSDAY;

For breakfast we had ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of steaming tea, we then sorted out the shopping list for tomorrow morning, we are having a nice relaxing day taking it easy, my ‘Private Nurse’ gave me her special  ‘Johnsons Baby Oil’ massage as I’m very stiff, all over! At lunchtime we are going up to ‘Bar Rojas’ for a light Tapas lunch, see the weather forecast below.

PS; ' Campo' Eggs are back on the menu, the first new batch in many months have just been dropped off, still warm!

The sun broke through and it’s now clear with a bright blue sky, there is no breeze and its going to be up to 21/22degs by the afternoon, over the next few days it’s more of the same and then on Sunday and all of next week it’s getting warmer, watch this space.

See below this mornings sunrise over the Mediterranean.

This evening for our supper we are having the ‘ Cottage Pie’ that the ‘ Second Chef’ made while the ‘Head Chef’ was away!

See below;

Still no sign of ‘Reina’ back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ – we are waiting to hear if she is going to be with us over the weekend for a three day sleep-over, Lee & Daniela are due to fly to England for some shopping for their new villa,  ‘ Chispa ‘ is still on lock-down but did escape the other day and came up to see us, watch this space.

PS; We have just had a message from Daniela to say that 'Reina' will be dropped of tomorrow for her weekend sleep-over!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A GREY & OVERCAST START TO MONDAY IN SUNNY MANILVA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 27th / MARCH 2017.

I was up very early this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – she’s with us for 7 days this week, with 3 sleep-over’s at the weekend, Lee & Daniela are going over to the UK to buy mainly ‘ White Goods’ for their new, grand, Villa, up on the top of ‘ Nob Hill’ above ‘Las Palmonas ‘ - down the coast, at the moment it’s starting to be updated/rebuilt from the inside/out!

We all then had a nice, long lie in, the last this week, ‘Reina’ is now in her duvet where she spends some of the day, we had ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of tea before getting the day/week on the go. No plans, so far, we are just taking each day as it comes.

PS; Daniela has just collected 'Reina ' - she has been signed off work with ligament damage to her shoulder, this means that we will not be having ' Reina' with us for the rest of the week, the weekend is TBC, watch this space.

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, I will be up before dawn and with Brenda’s help set off across the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital ‘ as I have to sign in at the ‘ A & E ‘ Department, before 7-00 am for my ‘Prostrate’  review/operation with a General Anesthetic! Sadly Mano has to work this evening so he will not be able to take me across to the hospital, Lumy offered her help but we don’t want to ask her because of the time, I’m driving across and will leave the car in the main underground car park at the hospital, I don’t know if I will be in for 24 hours or more, or let out later on Tuesday evening and will be able to drive back?!  Watch this space.

PS; The Council underground car park in the village is not unlocked before 6-00 am/ish after checking at the Police Station, so I have brought the car up to the lower square below our house, ready for a quick getaway in the morning!

In the lunchtime post we had a postcard from Kelvin & Gaye who are on a short break holiday in Dubai, they have been for dinner at the ' Rib Room ' and also at the 7* 'Burj Al Arab Jumeirah  ' - thanks for the postcard, to all our family & friends all over the World, keep them coming!!

Yesterday evening we had a surprise storm with heavy rain, it blew in from the Atlantic and was not forecast, the sky went black and there was thunder & lightening, Brenda shot upstairs and brought the washing in just in time! This morning it’s still cloudy and overcast, the sun is attempting to break through, the forecast for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend is looking a lot better, it’s dry & sunny and getting warmer as the week goes on, watch this space.

See the picture below of the sunset yesterday evening over Colwyn Bay ( for Tim & Thea!)

For our supper this evening we are having cold ‘Roast Topside of English Beef ‘ – I cooked it ‘ Pink ‘ and it was very tasty & succulent, we will have a fry-up of the leftover vegetables along with the rest of the ‘ Goose Fat Roast potatoes; the ‘ Menus’ for the rest of week are in Brenda’s capable hands, she is making a ‘ Cottage Pie ' tomorrow, to be ready to use, the rest of the week is then TBC.

Yesterday evening after supper we settled down to watch the opening episode of the new series of “ Line of Duty’ on BBB TV; It was as thrilling as a roller coaster ride, killing (?) - the main character, a DCI, at the end of the episode, played by the Hollywood actress Thandie Newton. At the start a girl was hit by a car, kidnapped by a man in a balaclava and tied up in a house, that then exploded!

The Detective is under pressure from above and arrests and charges a young retarded man, the local police forensics expert tried to alert her to doubts over the evidence, she didn’t listen so he shopped her to the ‘AC-12’ people, they took up in case and it then all kicked off, the detective faced off the forensic man and in a row at his house was knocked out, he then produced a balaclava from a kitbag, nipped out to a ‘DIY’ store and came back with plastic sheeting, power tools and a chainsaw, just as he was about to cut her up ... she woke up!! Is she alive or dead?!

So for now I’m not sure when I will be back online with the Blog, watch this space for the next news update!
