THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA AND SOTOGRANDE ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 31 ST/ JULY 2015.

We were up early this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping; the Bank first and then the 'English Bookshop' for the weekly papers, our main shop was not big this week and Mercadona was not so busy,next we picked up the fresh flowers and a plant from the local market down on the front before calling into 'Super Sol' for some English essentials.

As we arrived home 'Chispa' was waiting for us, we then unpacked and sorted ourselves out, we grabbed quick showers and got ready to pick Den & Josie up at 1-00 pm; by then it was hot and as the day went on it got hotter - 38 degs with even more to come over the weekend.

The drive along the coast road to Sotogrande is always spectacular as the Mediterranean sparkled and Gibraltar came into view with Africa in the background; the Marina at this time of the year is at its finest, as you can see we parked the " Aston Martin" in front of our White "Sunseeker" - See below;

As usual the " KE Bar" was very busy & we had to wait for a nice table sat in the shade in front of the Marina; our drinks arrived and we then selected from the large Tapas selection on show, to start the folks had a Prawn & Crab Salad while I had the Russian Salad, Josie then had a Greek Salad,Den a Caeser Salad,Brenda had the large local fresh caught Gambas and I had my favourite Chicken Curry & Chicken in a creamy Peppercorn sauce - with frits! See above.

When we got home it was time for a 'Siesta' - just right for this time of the year! The workmen on the site finish early and go home for one! The have started on the brick work on the front of the building and so the windows are starting to appear; Watch this space.

We are having a nice relaxing evening and then we are going out later for a nice cool drink up at 'Bar Castillo' taking in the sights & sounds of the village as the locals and especially the children come out to play!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

A LITTLE BREEZE IN SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 30th/ JULY 2015.

                                                                   And now its Thursday!

We had a little lie in this morning as the workmen did not make as much noise as yesterday, they are laying the brick walls at the moment - watch this space. 'Reina' was dropped off just before breakfast for her last day this week,she's back for Mon/Thurs next week.

I shot down to the " Iglesia Santa Ana Church" to meet Padre Jose Antonio who very kindly offered to show me the new bells in the church tower; we climbed the ever increasing steep new steel stairs, stopping on the way to see the roof cavity above the main body of the church.

The two new Bells are spectacular,the larger one is named 'Maria' and the smaller one is 'Santa Ana' They were cast in the oldest 'Master Founders' in the South Western Region of 'Extremadura' The sound/tone of each bell is perfect,I was able to give each one a try!

Very many thanks to Padre Jose Antonio for giving me the privilege & opportunity to see them up-close - see the pictures below;

As I came back to the house 'Scruffy' was just arriving for a few hours and next 'Chispa' was knocking on the door to come in - the Three 'Musceteers' are back in 'Doggy World Heaven' and are playing around my feet as I'm typing the Blog!!!

We have received an invite to the " Inauguration" of the new Museum,Exhibition & Cultural Centre 'Casa Los Torres' this coming Sunday evening, which is just around the corner at the bottom of our street!

As you can see we have another beautiful sunny day with a clear Blue sky and a rather nice cooling breeze which was very welcome after climbing up the church tower! Over the weekend its getting hotter again with yet another 'Heat Wave' coming across from Africa - the third this month in already the hottest time of the year!!

At lunchtime we went up to Bar Rojas for a cool drink and Mano & Anna came along and joined us for a good old gossip and chat,later Adrian & Rose came past so they picked 'Scruffy' up as he was with us,we we will see him again on Saturday for his sleep over,it also sound like he could be with us for Xmes which is great news as 'Charlie' is already booked in for two weeks for his Xmes Holidays!!

This afternoon we will have our 'Happy Hour' up on the roof terrace, workmen permitting, as they could have reached the walls around it by then!Watch this space.

Last night at the " Hondarribia Blues festival" it was the Canadian singer,songwriter & actress " Shakura S'Aida" belting out the Blues with a very 'Hot' four piece Band with a award winning classic pianist & Hammond Organ player! I love the Hammond Organ sound!!

For our supper this evening we are having the 'Calves Liver' dusted in seasoned flour and seared 'Pink' on the griddle plate with Crispy Smoked Back Bacon,well cooked Pork Sausages,sauteed Red Onion rings,Garden Peas and 'Hash Browns'

We will then settle down to watch the news, sport & weather details before finding something to watch.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

A STILL VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY'

WEDNESDAY 29th/ JULY 2015.

I was up early this morning as 'Reina' was due back for the day with us here in 'Doggy World Heaven' On the site there are now 8 workmen starting to build the walls and stairs with the breeze blocks/bricks that arrived yesterday,we now have the sound of the cement mixer to contend with!This also means that very soon our roof terrace will be bricked in on two sides as they build the walls around us - where will the windows of new block go?!

Also they have been using a 'Jack Hammer Drill' on our walls to brake away the old 100 old stone walls from the old cottages in between the new Concrete pillars - I rang our solicitor and let her hear the noise as I could not be heard to speak!! We have both been out waving our fists at the workmen and telling them what we think!! At the moment they are drilling the wall behind my head in the office as I'm typing the Blog!!

After our normal breakfast I grabbed a quick shave & shower and then went out in the village on my 'BBC' travels - the Bank, the Butchers and the Chemists! At our butchers I stocked up with Escalope of Chicken Breast for tonight's supper,thinly sliced Calves Liver,Chicken Wings & sliced Loin of Pork - all for another day!

Today it'a just a little cooler as forecast but its still 35 degs in the shade,normal for this time of the year,over the weekend its going to get hotter again - its now the hottest period for over 50 years in Spain,it started in May and has just continued, with more to come over the next two months!!

We have  just arranged with Den & Josie to go out on Friday lunchtime for a 'Tapas' lunch in Sotogrande at our favourite 'KE Bar' as Den has not been with us before - something to look forward too!

'Chispa' has been here this morning playing around the house as usual,tomorrow 'Scruffy' is now also coming in the morning for a few hours as well as on Saturday night for a sleep over, it will be nice to see him as he's such a character to have around the house with us and he will be some company for 'Reina' who is also her tomorrow.

At lunchtime we had to get out of the house as it was just getting too much to take, we went up to 'Bar Rojas 'for a cool drink and ended up having a Tapas lunch for Brenda and I had the House 'Combo' with a Homemade Burger Steak,Green Peppers, a Campo fried Egg & Homemade Chips!

The Padre came along as the 'Church House' is next door to Bar Rojas so I have arranged to meet him tomorrow morning down at the 'Santa Ana Church' as he is going to take me up the church tower to show me his new Bells!! Watch this space for the pictures tomorrow.

Last night later on I watched on 'TVE 1' some more of the " Hondarribia Blues Festival" - it was the legendary Blues Guitarist " Taj Mahal" - his style of 'Fingerpicking' with his Thumb & Middle Finger is unique and along with an excellent drummer and a five-string bass guitarist he brought the house down!!

We will be up on our roof terrace this afternoon, if the builders have finished, for our regular 'Happy Hour' cocktails as we listen to a local radio station and catch up with our reading.

For our supper we are having the 'Escalopes of Chicken Breast' dry-grilled with some dry sauteed thick cut Baked Potato and some lovely fresh local whole Baby Green Beans.
