Tues.26th. Sept.
We bumped into Graham and Sharon in town and after a coffee decided to go to
Etaples for lunch, they have a motorbike with them so its nice to be able to get
around with them. They are from Canterbury, Kent, she has three boys from her
first marriage and he has three girls and a boy.
After lunch we called at the posh fish restaurant to book for dinner the following
evening.

LE TOUQUET

Mon. 25th Sept.
Had a quiet morning as it was raining quite heavy, but went down to the
front to see if anything was happening with the Sand Racing Competion,
quite a lot of people there but no wind so there was nothing going on.
We don't go out much in the evenings during the week as the town is
very quiet during the week.

LE TOUQUET

Sun.24th.Sept.

Had booked for a pleasure flight a.m. so went up in a
'Robin' four seater , had a tour just over the town and
across the bay so we saw the Sand Yachts from above.
Didn't go down to watch them afterwards , not much wind,
and Malcolm's fighting off a bug, feeling a bit roapy!!
When we returned and switched on line we had a lovely
surprise,a singing E-Birthday song from Tim,Thea and
family. Had a nice social evening with our new neighbours
Gordon and Sharon .

LE TOUQUET

Sat.23rd Sept.

Market day, have to buy our fresh veg etc. all local produce beautiful
cheeses and charcuitere, even though it's a local market.
Went out Sat.eve called in the hotel just down the road for an aperitif
then onto La Dune aux Loups Restaurant to celebrate Malcolms Birthday.
(which was officially on the Sunday). Another excellent meal !!.

LE TOUQUET

Fri.22nd Sept.

Rain stopped play !!
Nipped out inbetween the showers to the big
supermarket for weekend shop.

LE TOUQUET

Thurs.21st.Sept.

Fine weather again so decided to go on a trip to a motorhome parts centre near
Bologne. They must have had everything except what we wanted, very helpful
young man who spoke some English, even phoned elsewhere to try for what
we wanted, but to no avail. Did not want to risk going into Bologne on the scooter
so headed back. stopped at Etaples-De-Mer ( A little fishing resort) on the estuary.
Quite a delightful little place with a dozen or so huts in a row along the front, each
one selling the catches of the day, not all of them were open, some just closing down
but managed to buy a couple of sole which were so reasonable. We found a bar/rest.
which was obviously the locals place, inside was full but sat outside and had the
Rapido menu (2x coarses for 11 euros) mushrooms to start and a beautiful steak
with au poive sauce , excellent value. We noticed a superb fish restaurant with a
fish hall underneath, for future reference.

LE TOUQUET

Wed.20th Sept.

Caught up on e-mails and blog, then went into town, stopped at
'Jeans' Brasserie and had a light lunch outside as the weather
was good. They do a nice Croque sandwhich (just enough for
lunch sometimes). Had a run along the front and that was it
after a bit of shopping .

LE TOUQUET

Mon.18th Sept.
Found a local Laundrette/ Dry Cleaners as my washing machine takes too much water so
will only use it if I have to. Have to go on the scooter with a bag over my shoulder, first time
was abit of an experience, not having correct coins for machines etc.(automatic) no attendents.
That evening we had Margaret and Arthur over for drinks and a chat.

Tues. 19thSept.
Another maintenence day doing chores , had a few mishaps so went to find a motorhome
parts place, ended up next to the airport having been towards Berck and back but they were
very helpful and fixed the slide out for quite a minamal charge.
Spent the evening here with another couple (Dorothy and George) had a few drinks and
discussed various places, they have just spent four months touring around (actually on
honeymoon) now on their way home, so it was really interesting listening to their tales.

LE TOUQUET

Sat.16th Sept.
Another Market Day in town but bigger than Tues. one, same storeholders, starting to
recognize us (don't know if that's good or bad)!!
Went out for dinner to a very nice restaurant (La Dune aux Loups) not in town opposite
the Equestrian centre in one of these beautiful boulevards. Very classy and superb food.
Have booked for next Sat. as it is so busy. Next weekend is Malcolm's birthday.

Sun.17th Sept.
Had lunch at the airport went to the main restaurant, bar and terrace was full, I had
Steak Tartare presented and prepared at the table, something not seen back home now.
Malcolm had Rack of Lamb in puff pastry. Just so nice to sit and relax watching all the
small private jets coming and going, probably popping over the channel for a spot of lunch.

LE TOUQUET

Wed 13th Sept.
Spent most of the day on site doing our bits and pieces, the weather has been very pleasant,
able to enjoy outside chatting with various people and gathering info. to help us when we
move on. We have decided to stay longer, as we do like it here, there is no rush to go anywhere.

Thurs 14th Sept.
Market Day in town, so browsed around there, then called in for an aperitif and watched the
world go by.

Fri.15th Sept.
Supermarket shopping in the morning at 'Champion' .Love being on the scooter especially
with the sunshine. Haven't been on the bikes together yet as Malcolms back not too good.

LE TOUQUET

Monday 11th Sept.
Out and about on the scooter just locally but found an excellent supermarket on the outskirts
of Le Touquet Champion chain , it was vast! Sat outside chatting with Margaret and Arthur
in the afternoon.Received a phone call from Eddy and Gigi that evening, when they arrived home on Sunday their son had been involved in a motorcycle accident and broke his wrist and
damaged his other hand quite badly so they can't meet us later this month down the coast as
previously arranged. He is due to take over the family buisness shortly. So that was a big
dissapointment to us.

Tues 12th Sept.
Went for a ride on the scooter to 'Berch' a seaside resort just down the coast. This was a trial
run on the open road, quite exhilarating!! It has a lovely promenade and long white sands,
everywhere is so pretty with flowers on the roads.

LE TOUQUET

Mon. 4/9/06
Walked into the town approx a mile from the site, beautiful tree lined boulevards and the most
gorgeous houses on the outskirts of town. What a difference when we got into town the place was so peaceful after the last weekend of the season, some of the shops and rests close on Monday but had lunch at Jeans , this became one of our favourite water holes! Tried to buy
various other camp-site guides which had been recommended to us from people we met over the weekend, then paid a visit to the Tourism Office but could'nt get the information we needed.
Came back to the site and chatted to the Belgiun couple we met yesterday, shared a bottle of vino and some information outside in the sun .

Tues.5/9/06
Still enjoying walking around the town looking at the chic sophisticated shops, childrens clothes
are unbelievable, fresh fish galore ,

Wed.6/9/06
This was the first day we endevoured to try the scooter together so had a practise here and then
took off, it was fantastic, went all around the avenues and along the front , stopped off for an
aperitif here and there.
That evening we joined Eddy and Giselle for dinner at the Casino they cycled and we went on the scooter, it was so funny, wish someone could of taken a video of us! Had an excellent meal
and quite resonable.

Thurs.7/9/06
Out and about on scooter. Market day in Le Touquet, this is great by our standards, indoor and
outside, all the fresh fish, veg , meat/ charcutiere/ olives etc. you could wish for.
Invited our new friends for the evening to the Winnebago, had a buffet style supper with our
wares at the market, a late night chatting , but most enjoyable.

Fri.8/9/06
Hired a car and went into Bologne to a sports store 'Decathlon' which is on a huge industrial est.
would never have found it without the help of the tourism office. The reason for this visit was
to buy another collapsable bike, which we could'nt buy here, no space for normal bicycles with the scooter, also found the most amazing book shop, a vast one,but still can't get the guide we need for these large motor-homes. Had a nice lunch on the front overlooking the port.
spent the evening with Eddy and Ge-Ge again at the Casino (park outside the entrance and the
doorman takes the helmets!!).

Sat.9/9/06
Went out for the day with Eddie and Ge-Ge in their mobile home, went to 'Berch Sur-Mer' just
down the coast to their Market Day again an indoor/outdoor one even better than the previous
one we went to. Then went down to the sea front had a very pleasant al-fresco lunch, it was a
beautiful sunny day, vast white sands, sand dunes and loads of space.Unfortunately our home is
to big to drive around towns but we aim to go again on the scooter
We then drove to Montreuil-Sur-Mer, a walled medeival town with the most wonderful
breathtaking scenery, we walked the track around the villiage and went inside the cathedral,
just missed the wedding but saw them leaving in convoy tooting their horns.
Had dinner in town which had an 'Edith Piaf ' style singer on , again with our friends.

Sun.10/9/06
Normal morning had an aperitif here and discussed where we would meet up again , agreed to do so
at the end of Sept. as our friends had to leave later that day for Ostend. Then we all went to the
local race course to a car rally, this was the Touquet Paris Plage 2006 for Historique cars,
hundreds of them on show, some appearing in a style competion e.g. Couples dressed in styles
to compliment their cars , be it a Bentley ,Cadilac, Jaguar etc. A very pleasant Sunday afternoon
at this magnificent racecourse which is next to the airport.

LE TOUQUET

Crossed over to Calais on the ferry at 3.15 p.m. on Fri. 1/9/06 and headed for Le Touquet as our first stop stayed overnight near the airport and serched for a camp sight the following day.
Hooked up on a beach site which was extremely busy due to an International Wolf Hound Dog
Show at the Hippodrome Sat/Sun. Will probably stay here till Monday collecting our thoughts
after hitting the town last night (Sat) and enjoying a fantastic Fruits De Mer in one of our
favourite restaurants,
