A VERY CRISP & COLD SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 24th / MARCH 2017.

I was up very early this morning and welcomed ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, I then shot out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, meanwhile Brenda went down to the surgery for her appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, for a review/check up, she has a slight urine infection, so her prescriptions tablets have been up graded, her knee is now fine, she’s going back next Friday morning for another review/check up.

I did our main shop in ‘ Mercadona’ and then popped along to the ‘ English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers, I bumped into a friend, Michala, who lives in the village with her husband, James, and two boys, so I gave her a lift back up to the village, after picking up the fresh flowers & wall plants from the local market at the end of the promenade.

I then dropped down the back road to go along the coast roast to the ‘ Helicopteros Sanitarios ‘ offices to pay the half-yearly fees for our emergency cover, finally I called into the ‘ English Butchers ‘ in Puerto Duquesa, where I bought a  nice piece of ‘ Topside of English Beef ’ for our ‘Sunday’ roast, Duck Fat, Homemade Pork Sausages and their excellent Gammon Steaks.

Overnight we had some rain but by this morning it has cleared, the sky is bright blue and the sun it out, as I was driving down through the vine fields, the leaf’s have started to appear on the old Black ground vines, the ‘Mediterranean ‘  was sparking, there is just a little breeze but it’s very crisp & cold. Over the weekend it’s staying cold and unsettled but next week we will be back to normal, sunshine and warmer, hopefully after the clocks going forward on Sunday, it will make a little difference, watch this space.

See below the promenade in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, yesterday lunchtime.

This evening for our supper the menu has changed, for our ‘ Fish Supper’ we are now having  ‘Baby Dab Soles – Lenguado ‘  with fresh, local, large  ‘Gambas ‘- they had just arrived at the ‘Fish’ counter, we will have 2/3 of the smalls Soles either dusted in flour and shallow fried or grilled, the ‘ Gambas’ will be cooked ‘ A La Plancha’ on the griddle plate with Sea Salt, all garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, with Baby Parsley New Potatoes & Garden Peas.

Tomorrow night its’ going to be ‘ Steak Diane ‘ as I have two large ‘ Entrecote Steaks’ that I will trim ‘ French’ style, on Sunday it will be the ‘ Roast Topside of English Beef ‘ with Yorkshire Puddings and of course ‘ Duck Fat’ Roast Potatoes!

This afternoon/evening we will be watching the various ‘Quiz Shows’ before catching later the ‘Red Nose Day’ programmes on BBC TV.
