THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY HOT & CLAMMY SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY  31st / JULY 2018. !

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘Reina’ for the only day this week, she, as usual, shot upstairs onto her duvet and settled down, ignoring the other dogs, as usual! ‘Prince Paddy’ spent the night on the floor, meanwhile ‘ Lex Baby’ kept on the move, upstairs & down stairs, this morning they both ended up on the bed, we then had a quick freshen up before taking ‘Paddy & Lex’ for their first walks of the day, keeping in the shade, as the breeze has dropped, when we returned we had our normal light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea, see below a quick picture taken with my Mobile phone of ‘Lex Baby’ waiting for her breakfast!

PS; Last night when we all went up to bed, Brenda’s slippers were missing?!  We soon found the ‘ culprit’ – as ‘Lex Baby’ had hidden them by her bed, downstairs!!

This morning has started very hot & clammy, as the ‘Poienenta' breeze has dropped, the sky is bright blue and the Mediterranean is sparkling, by lunchtime it will be 31 degs+ - tomorrow will be a little cooler and then we are in for a couple of days of patchy clouds, the weekend of the ‘ Noche Del Embrujo’ Festival’ is now looking very warm & sunny, with a very light breeze, which is good news as there are lots of Candles & naked flames! Next week is now looking very hot & sunny, in the low to mid 30s, watch this space.

See below the ‘ new’ beach in Colwyn Bay, looking towards the  Rhos-On Sea end and a spectacular picture of the ‘Anglican Cathedral’ in Liverpool, looking across to the River Mersey, to the Wirral and on the horizon North Wales!

Speaking of Colwyn Bay & North Wales, the picture below shows Tim & Thea’s daughter Jo and her friend, Heather, have reached Bolivia on their South American adventure, it shows them at the salt flats at Uyuni,  at over 5400 m! – Very cold and lacking oxygen!!

For our supper this evening we are having a ‘ Roast Chicken’ from ‘ Mercadona’ – portioned and served cold, with a selection of various salads, with some Parsley New Potatoes, on Wednesday evening it’s going to be ‘ Chicken n’ Chips’ in the Basket! Thursday is going to be a well deserved ‘ Day-Off’ for the ‘ Head Chef and his Staff’!

This afternoon/evening we will be watching the various  “ Quiz “ shows that we follow, back in the old routine, ‘ Countdown, The 1000K Drop, The Chase, Impossible, Eggheads & University Challenge’ – after supper we will channel hop to find something to watch.

See below a spectacular picture of the ' Blood Moon' over the new bridge in Cadiz!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A WARM & SUNNY START TO THE WEEK IN SUNNY MANILVA WITH A SLIGHT COOLING BREEZE.

MONDAY 30th / JULY 2018.

We all had a nice night’s sleep after all the excitement of the final day of the ‘ Feria’ – ‘Prince Paddy’ spent the night on the floor and ‘ Lex’ was on her blanket with her cushion, this morning after a very quick freshen up we took them for their first walk of the day down to the ‘ Mirador’ in a cooling breeze, that started yesterday evening, when we returned our first job was to cut-off the ‘Cone’ from around ‘Lex’s’ head – she was very good girl and is now a lot happier! Tomorrow morning little princess ‘ Reina’ is back with us just for the day, over the weekend ‘ Chispa’ has not been let out, no doubt we will see her later.

NB; We are not looking forward to Thursday as 'Prince Paddy' is due to be collected by Eileen, to say that we are going to miss him, is an understatement, to say the least, we love him, he's real character and such good company, we love cuddling him and the love he gives back, he's a real little ' Star '! " Thank's" Eileen for letting us look after him, here in ' Doggy World Heaven '

The’ Council’ have cleared & cleaned ‘ Calle Mar’ and the ‘Fairground’ people and food stalls have all packed up overnight, and left! We have the village back to ourselves for now, as on Saturday it’s the “ Noche Del Embrujo “ Festival – a evening of enchanted lights, music, singing & dancing.

See below;

Overnight the breeze blowing down from the mountains behind the village was quite strong, so it was not so hot & sultry, hence us all getting a slightly better night’s sleep, by lunchtime today it’s due to reach 32 degs+ - tomorrow is the same and then the rest of the week is going a little cooler, staying in the high 20s+ - with patchy clouds at times, the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ has been blown away! Next week is looking more settled, hot & very sunny, back in the mid 30s. Watch this space.

Yesterday afternoon/evening/overnight there was lots of ‘wild fires’ in the area, not helped by the strong winds,  causing evacuations, power losses, damage to local properties etc, in various urbanization’s along the coast, see below a small section of the local ones!

'Marlow's Fish n' Chip Shop ' on the left!

And the aftermath - that was close!

On the sports front; Lewis Hamilton won the ‘ Hungarian Grand Prix ‘ and Geraint Thomas won the “ Tour De France “ – the first ‘ Welshman’!!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ garnished with seared Buttons Mushrooms & topped with seared Pineapple Rings and ‘Campo Fried Eggs!  - with finely sliced Green Beans & Garden Peas and of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’!

Last night after supper we watched the final episode of “ Poldark’ as he was left devastated by the death, after childbirth, of his one true love, Elizabeth ( RIP) – George, her husband, the bad guy, was also very upset! The ‘ Good Doctor’ got back with his posh wife, Demelza got closer to her husband, Ross, again, and at the end Morwenna married her one true love, it will return later in the year!!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY - THE FINAL DAY OF THE 'FERIA.'

SUNDAY 29th/ JULY 2018.

We all had a very hot & sultry night, ‘Prince Paddy ‘ was on the floor before coming on the bed and ‘Lex’ Baby spent the night on one of his rugs! She is settling in and has a ‘ Helluva’ appetite, they are getting on very well and she is into a regular routine on our walks, after a very quick freshen up we took them out, on the shady side of the street, which had just been washed down by the ‘Council’ water wagon, after last night’s festivities, which didn’t finish until after 6-00 am this morning!

When we returned we had ‘ Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce, open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of strong ‘ PG’Tips Tea!

We are taking things easy today as it all ‘ Kicks-Off’ again this evening at 5-00 PM, with two bands, ‘ Compas Flamenco & Nuevas Ilusions ‘ – then a performance by the ‘ Jessica Quinones School of Body Expression’ ?! – then at 10-00 pm it’s the final concert by ‘ El Kanish’ with rock & pop tunes. until a mid-night finish ( local by-law!) A large ‘ Fireworks’ display then takes place to finish off the Feria!

Yesterday evening I popped along to ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ to take the pictures, that you can see below, of the ‘ Feria Queens ‘ floats passing along ‘ Calle Mar’ – as I was waiting I got talking to two Swedish guys, Ulf & Richard, who have a house down in the ‘ Monte Vinas’ development below the village, it turned out that they knew our old Swedish friend Lillimore, who sadly died over a year ago, she had helped them buy their house years ago, we had a nice chat as we passed the time away waiting for the parade to come along – you can see the guys in the back of one of the pictures!  ‘ Tack Sa Mycket ‘

We are in for ‘hot one’ today, but overnight a light breeze has come along, making it still bearable on the shady side of the street, by lunchtime it will be 31 degs+ . at the start of next week it’s going to be the same before on Wednesday going a little cooler, with still the threat of some of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ at times!

See below some pictures of the ‘Round the World Clipper Fleet’ arriving back in Liverpool yesterday after a year away, at the same time the ‘Royal Princess’ berthed at the Pier Head, for the third time this year!

Also over in Liverpool this weekend it’s the “ Gay Pride “ Carnival, the ‘St John’s Beacon’ and ‘ St George’s Hall’ have been ‘lit- up’- see below!

This afternoon we will be watching the final ‘ Stage 21’ of the “ Tour de France “ from Houilles to the ‘Champs-Elysees’ in Paris over 116 kms, as Geraint Thomas is set to win the ‘Tour’ on his processional ride into Paris!

See the final route map below;

Over at the ‘ Hungarian Grand Prix’ Lewis Hamilton has taken the pole position with a ‘ Masterclass’ of wet-weather racing in the heavy rain.

At lunchtime we had a nice surprise on our walk with the dogs, ' Bar Castillo' was open and serving all the ' locals' - we stayed and had our regular cool drinks and some excellent ' Tapas'

When we came back I went for my normal ' Siesta '  - only to find that the ' Oldest Rock Chick' in the village was around at the ' Casa Del Torres' Cultural Centre, in the next street, dancing & singing away to a local ' Rock Band ' - she was given two hats for her dancing! I went around to find her and ended up joining in, before bringing home my very 'Hot' Rock Chick'for her siesta !!

See below;

For our supper this evening we are having pan-seared ‘ Escalopes of Chicken Breast’ in foaming Lime Butter, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms, with Whole ‘French’ Green Beans & the classic ‘ Rissolees’ Potatoes.

Later before we go out for our last walk of the day with the dogs, we will be watching the next ( final?)  episode of “Poldark”
