THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A ' CRISP' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 30th/ APRIL 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning after a ‘Helluva’ weekend, after freshening up we treated ourselves to ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP ‘ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of strong tea, to start the week is the right direction!

It was then time to sort out the  weeks menu’s, tonight we are having Cold Smoked Ham – topped with  ‘Campo’ Fried Egg with Garden Peas & twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ On Tuesday its ‘Escalope of Chicken Breast ‘ – then on Wednesday, when Kevin & Caroline are joining us for supper we have a three-course ‘ Banquet’ planned, Thursday is going to be ‘Homemade Burgers’ – Friday is ‘ Fish n’ Chip’ night and on Saturday it’s ‘ Steak Night’ – Sunday is still TBC! Watch this space.

This evening we are going down to the local surgery as we have our appointments with the ‘ Chiropodist’ – then on Wednesday it’s supper with the folks, on Friday morning I will be out on my travels, down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping. On Sunday we have arranged to call Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Skype’ video, for a catch-up and to wish Bill ‘ Happy Birthday’ ( on Friday!)  We have no medical appointments this week, so far!

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ ‘Charlie’ is back with us tomorrow for another weeks holiday, then on Thursday ‘Chico’ returns for an extended weeks holiday, we are waiting to hear when little princess ‘ Reina’ is with us, no doubt ‘ Chispa’ will be calling in to see all her friends, Watch this space.

This morning the sun has broken through earlier and the sky has cleared and is now bright blue, there is a slight breeze blowing, keeping it a little cooler than normal for this time of the year, reaching by lunchtime,18 degs+ yesterday as we were out & about it turned warm & sunny as we reached Estepona and stayed that way for the rest of the day, this week is now looking dry, cloudy at times and then getting warmer and sunny, as the week goes on , by the weekend we will be back to 21/22 degs+ - next week is now forecast to be dry, warm & sunny, more like is should be for May, hovering on the 22/23 degs mark+ -if not warmer! Watch this space.

Yesterday we picked up Kevin & Caroline from their apartment complex down in Sabinillas, and set off on our travels, along the coast road, past a sparkling ‘ Mediterranean to Estepona, where we stopped at ‘La Terantella’ Bar & Restaurante, on the front, for a very nice glass of their chilled ‘Cava Rose’ garnished with Strawberries, to start the day in the right fashion.

See the pictures below;

We then made our way to ‘ Kokomo’ for our  ‘Sunday Roast Lunch’ - as we arrived we had a nice glass of their chilled ‘ Cava Rose ‘ . we the ordered from the menu, to start we all had the ‘ House’ Prawn Cocktail topped with fresh Crab, then we all had their excellent ‘ Roast Sirloin of Beef’ – on the ‘ Rare’ side, with Yorkshire Pudding, Goose-Fat Roast Potatoes and the rich house Gravy/Jus Roti, with a selection of ‘ Crisp’ Vegetables and New Potatoes, for our dessert Brenda had their excellent and large ‘ Cheese Board’ Caroline had the ‘ Eaton Mess Cheese Cake’ and Kevin & I had the Apple Crumble with Custard and Ice Cream!

See the pictures below;

I ordered a bottle of a excellent value ‘White Verdejo Rueda’- from the ‘ Castilla y Leon’ Region of Northern Spain, to go with our starters, it has strong fruit & intense aromas, to go with the ‘Roast Beef’ I choose the ‘ Red Ribera del Duero ‘ from the same region, fruity & smoky, it matures in the glass and is the ‘ In’ wine to have with ‘Roast’ meats!

On the way back we called into the ‘H10 Estepona Palace ‘ for a nice cook drink, sat on the terrace overlooking Gibraltar and the mountains of Africa, I favourite ‘stopping-off’ place of all of us, we introduced the folks to it on their last visit, we then carried on down the coast and showed Kevin & Caroline around the village and then up the mountain of ‘ La Paloma’ – before going to back to their apartment for a final drink, a ‘ Helluva’ day, out & about on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – as the sun came out and breeze dropped a little.

PS; The pictures will follow later as I have a technical problem with the camera/ computer lead, watch this space!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A OVERCAST & COLD SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 29th/ APRIL 2018.

We had a little lie in this morning after our evening out at Daniela’s 40th  Birthday party/bash. We found the grand villa on the top of the ‘La Paloma’ mountain, it’s guarded by three sets of remote barriers, the villa has been finished in spectacular fashion, the Marble floors are to die for, as well as the 4 story staircase,  in the kitchen they have the latest ‘Bosch’ supper equipment including a very clever ceramic induction hob! ( which I’ve never cooked on?!) Watch this space.

As you can see below the views across the Mediterranean, from the many terraces, are to die for.

We were warmly welcomed by our host’s Daniela & Lee along with Daniela’s Mum & Dad, Antonio & Sharon, who live in half of the villa, the full-bar was flowing, by the side of the newly completed/filled pool, as all the guests arrived, there was a Spanish singer/ guitarist to start, then on the top terrace, an English ‘ Crooner’  -followed later on the pool-side terrace a Singer/Entertainer, they are all friends of Dani’s on the local ‘Gig-Circuit’ where she also performs, in fact on Friday evening she was singing in one of the famous Bars in ‘Puerto de la Duquesa’ when her younger sister arrived with her son and surprised her, from the UK! Lee was in charge of the ‘BBQ’ and produced some very nice traditional food, all very nice as he’s not usually in charge of the kitchen! A very nice ‘ Helluva ‘ night, thanks.

This morning we are taking things easy after a light breakfast of toast & tea, we are slowly getting ourselves ready for next adventure out, down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ as we head off with our friends Kevin & Caroline, stopping off on the way for a ‘Pit-Stop’ of a nice cool glass of Cava,  across to our favourite restaurant ‘ Kokomo’ for their excellent ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’ – the folks have arrived safely at their apartment down in Sabinillas on Friday, from Brighton. Watch this space, later for the pictures.

Speaking of the ‘Costa Del Sol ‘ – sadly last night at the birthday party the only problem was the very cold wind, that rather disrupted the night, to say the least, the cold & windy ‘ Atlantic’ front has hit us! It’s still blowing this morning and the temperature has dropped down to 17 degs+ with an overcast sky and still very cloudy, at the moment, hopefully the sun will brake through later, next week is still looking mixed, with an occasional ‘shower’- cloudy at times before slowly getting better/warmer towards the weekend, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Liverpool could only draw 0-0 against lowly Stoke, they were saving themselves for the second-leg of the ‘ Champions League ‘ at Roma on Wednesday, Everton won 0-2 and are up to 8th in the ‘Premier League’!  Real Madrid won 2-1 and Lewis Hamilton is second on the grid, again, against Vettel, at the ‘ Azerbaijan Grand Prix’ in Baku.

Finally next week in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ things have changed with the great news that ‘Chico’ ( see below ) is back with us for another extended weeks holiday on Thursday, ‘Charlie’ arrives on Tuesday for his weeks holiday and of course little princess ‘ Reina’- who was in fine form yesterday evening, charging around the villa, is back with us for two days, as usual, and ' Chispa' is back out and has sarted to come crashing in again, watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A COOLER SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 29th/ APRIL 2018.

We had our first lie in this week, well deserved, before getting the day on the go, Brenda showered first, she’ then washing/shampooing her hair,  I’m having mine after lunch, we then had our normal light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea, at lunchtime the ‘ Head Chef’ has been persuaded to cook a ‘ Brunch’ – he is officially on holiday for two days, along with the ‘ Second Chef’ – to set us up for the day/evening ahead, when we are going to ‘ Daniela’s 40th Birthday Party/ Villa Warming’ down the coast in ‘La Paloma’

We are having a large platter of ‘Grilled English Pork Sausages, Spanish Crispy Smoked Bacon, local Sliced Chorizo, Seared Button Mushrooms & Tomato, Sautéed Potatoes’ and of course ‘ Campo Fried Eggs’! Not forgetting the Buttered Toast & ‘ HP Brown sauce’!!

This morning there is a light breeze, making it a little cooler, only 19 degs+ - the sun is attempting to break through at the moment, the clouds are starting to clear and the sky is turning blue, tomorrow it’s more of the same, if a little cooler, as the ‘ Atlantic’ front takes effect, next week is now looking mixed, one day cloudy, one day sunny and the next with a ‘ April Shower’! – going a little warmer at times, watch this space.

On Sunday we are going across to Estepona, with our friends Kevin & Caroline, from Brighton, to go to our favourite lunch restaurant ‘ Kokomo’ for their excellent ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’ Watch this space.

See below the latest picture of the new ‘ Estepona Hospital’ starting to take shape.

On the sports front this weekend; Over in the ‘Premier League’ Liverpool welcome Stoke in the early kick-off, while Huddersfield Town travel across the ‘Pennines’ to play Everton, on Sunday Manchester City travel down the M6/1 to play West Ham, over here in ‘ La Liga’ Real Madrid are at home to Leganes and Barcelona travel to Deportivo La Coruna. This afternoon it’s the last day of the ‘ National Hunt Jump Racing’ season at Sandown Park & Haydock Park, meanwhile the ‘ Grand Prix’ is in Azerbaijan.

We are taking things easy, for now, as we have a ‘ Helluva’ weekend ahead of us!
