THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 30th/APRIL2015!

By the time I was up this morning to welcome ‘Reina’ back for the day the sky was blue and the sun was out, it’s getting hotter today, by lunchtime it will be 28/29degs and the weekend is looking even hotter;.we are now on 'Red Alert' for the weekend as is reaches 31/35degs! See below;

The workmen on the development are back erecting the steel frame work for the foundations and the council painters, after a little persuasion, have started to paint down our street, the sides at the moment, but it’s a start! See the picture below;

Yesterday over in the Port of Malaga the largest cruise liner in the World was berthed for the day “MS Allure of the Seas” She was built in Turku, Finland and her gross tonnage is 225,282. She can accommodate 5,400 passengers and has a two deck dance hall, a ice rink, a theater that seats 1,380 people and 25 different dining options including the first ‘Starbucks’ at sea!

At the same time in the shipyard her sister ship the “MS Oasis of the Seas” was built to the same specifications but the “ Allure of the Seas” has just been declared the largest cruise liner in the World as she is officially 50 millimeters ( 2.0in) longer! The Boffins’ say that its due to the temperature at the time of the steel used in the construction!! Not a lot of people know that – they do now! See the pictures below;

Today is an at home day after all the excitement, by our standards, of yesterdays adventures out & about on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ Little ‘Chispa’ came calling earlier so we will go for a nice walk with both of the dogs a little later.While we were out with the dogs the painters gave the sides of our street another coat,no looking even smarter.

This afternoon the roof terrace beckons, I will join Brenda a little later after the sun moves around for our ‘Happy Hour’ cocktails & nibbles listening to the local music radio station sat under our new Yellow parasol, what a life!

This evening for supper we are having my own recipe/version of a ‘Broad Bean Frittata’ with a nice Mixed Salad on the side, we will then settle down to find something to watch. See below;

SAN PEDRO " CAFE BAR CALDERON " BY THE NEW BOULEVARD THIS LUNCHTIME;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA.ESTEPONA & SAN PEDRO ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 29th/ APRIL 2015.

We were up early this morning and after quick cup of tea we shot out on our travels on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early, the sky is blue and by lunchtime it was 27degs. – the forecast for the next few days and over the weekend is getting even hotter 29/31 degs! We will survive!!

The drive along the coast road next to the sparkling Blue/Green Medittarean was as usual spectacular and Estepona is at its best with all the flowers in full bloom along the promenade and in the old Town.See below;

We stopped at our bank, first thing and updated all our details, as required by the new Government Law that comes into force on the 1st May. We then parked the car in the underground car park under the promenade and called in for a coffee & Tostado at out favorite Café.

Brenda went off for some essential cosmetics and also came back with a new neck scarf & ear rings, meanwhile I had a nice relaxing shampoo,wash,cut and scalp massage in my Barbers, Manuel; we then met up and did some window shopping were I found a pair of “ Blue Swede Shoes ” – slip on ‘Loafers’ ‘The King is Dead, Long Live the King’ ! From the same shop Brenda managed to find another ‘Handbag’ Well a ‘Girl’ can never have enough Handbags! See the picture below of my shoes!!

We then picked the car up and went up to the large ‘Poligamo’ to the ‘Car Hypermarket’ for some Coolant for the little ‘Red Ferrari’ – we then called into ‘Furniture World’ and with the help of a very attentive lady assistant we managed to source a four-ring gas burner to fit into the Marble top that the old electric one is in! There is also a matching extractor hood that fits into the back kitchen at the same time – both at very reasonable prices! They can be ordered on one day and be at the shop the next, now that’s a RESULT – we are calling back ASAP to order them!! (While this was happening Brenda found a new large bright Yellow sun parasol for the roof terrace)!

It was then time to go for our Tapas lunch in San Pedro at our favorite Bar next to the new Boulevard; on the way we picked up some essential night lights & big straws for our ‘Happy Hour’ cocktails, from ‘La Casa’ We had some nice cool drinks sat in the shade outside, Brenda had the ‘Bacarones in Oil & Vinegar’ & some ‘Rosado Frito’ I had a ‘Tortillas Camarones’ the ‘Chicken Korma’ and a very delicious & tasty ‘Mini-Burger’ – as you can see in the picture above.

It was then time to come back to a very hot & sunny Manilva up the hill through the vine fields which are now in full bloom.

For our supper later this evening we are having grilled ‘Gammon Steak’ with Pineapple, Garden Peas &Frits’ We will then settle down to catch up with all the news, sport and weather details before finding something to watch.

One ‘Helluva’ day out and about on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ –again!

PS; This morning as we were leaving the workmen arrived and they have started to fix the iron rods for the re-enforced concrete as you can see below, which means.more concrete!

At the bottom of our street the council painters have finished Calle Adrades and the junction,I will find out tomorrow if they are doing our street?! We don't think they will until the development is finished!! See below.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 28th/ APRIL 2015.

I was up early this morning as ‘Reina’ was due back with us for the day, she shot upstairs and went to sleep on her duvet and I carried on and went down to the local office to pay the ‘Road Fund Tax; - they sent me back to the local bank in Calle Mar, I then collected the car and went down to Sabinillas to top up the petrol and then when I came back I checked the oil & water, outside the house, ready for tomorrows trip over to Estepona.

After breakfast we showered and freshened ourselves up and then went for a nice walk with ‘Reina’ & Chispa’ and ended up having a nice cool drink sat outside in the very hot sunshine at Carlos’s ‘Antiuguidades Bar’ – which is always very pleasant.

Today it’s very hot here in sunny Manilva, the sky is Blue and there is no breeze, the forecast for the rest of the week is even getting better, the overall temperature is rising every day and it looks like we are in for a nice spell of fine weather. Back to normal!

The Council have started to paint the local streets around us,will we be next?!  See the picture below of 'Calle Adrades' ?!  Watch this space.

Tonight for our supper we are having a ‘Soft Mixed Grill’ with Calves Liver, Pork Sausages, Smoked Bacon, Tomato, Mushrooms and sautĂ©ed Onions with Cabbage with Alselgas and thick-cut slices of Baked Potato dry sautĂ©ed.

It looks like we will be back in our afternoon routine up on the roof terrace, reading, listening to the local music radio station and having our ‘Happy Hour’ drinks & nibbles! Especially as we don’t know how much longer we will be able to go out on the terrace as the development start to go up?!

Last night after supper we settled down and found an interesting film to watch on ‘TVE 1’ so no adverts but sadly at the end no credits. “The Frozen Ground” from 2013 – a serial killer is on the loose in Alaska back in the 1980s – its based on an actual facts & characters, John Cusak is the maniac ‘ Robert Hanson’ who abduts,kills and buries 17/21 women in the frozen wilderness, he’s a married man with two children and owns a restaurant.

The cop chasing him is played by Nicolas Cage in his usual style and the supporting cast is once again very good Vanessa Hudgens, Katherine Lansa,Radlia Mitchell & 50 cent! One interesting fact is that the film was made in the actual area of Alaska outside Anchorage in 25/26 days in the depth of winter with very little day light hours – to make it authentic to the time it actually took place! One to watch to find out the outcome!!
