THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY ESTEPONA & MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 31ST / MAY 2016.

We were up early this morning and after ‘ Reina’ was dropped off for the day we grabbed a quick cup of tea and a piece of toast before we shot off across to Estepona; I stopped at my Barbers, Manuel, for the full works, as I walked in he said that he had heard my show last Saturday, he plays the local radio in the shop all the time and knows all the tracks, I’m going to play his request on this weeks show “ 99 Red Balloons “ by ‘Nena’!

Brenda meanwhile went to the Jewellers next door and has left the ‘ Carriage Clock’ with him again, she then went window shopping and called into her favourite ‘Perfumery’ for some essentials. We then went up to the ‘ Poligamo’ to the ‘Furniture Hypermarket’ where we bought our ‘Gas Hob & Extractor Unit’ last year, we have ordered a New ‘Electric Oven’ in Silver which is being delivered in the next couple of days, they will install it and take the old one away. At the same time Brenda found a new Table Cloth & Dish Cloths, a nice Tea Pot ( we didn’t have one!) - as the ‘ girls’ like their tea out of a pot! Also some Egg Cups for their ‘Campo’ Boiled Eggs! We are ready to welcome all the folks in two weeks time!!

Its another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early and the sky is blue with no clouds, the ‘ Mediterranean’ is sparkling and there is no breeze, by lunchtime it will be hot, not too hot, as in July/ August, its one of our favourite times of the year before the holiday masses hit us; 27/28 degs later and during the night 18/19 degs – very pleasant and bearable! See below the forecast for June!

Jack, Lyn & Jenny went over to Colwyn Bay yesterday and had lunch down on the promenade, they are meeting Norah later in the week in Liverpool, see the picture below of the ‘ Little Orme ’ in Llandudno this morning.

This evening we are having ‘Grilled Chicken Wings’ with a Mixed Salad & ‘ Baked Potato’ after ‘Mario’ Jnr. calls in for his English Conversation practise, see the picture below of him ( No 9 !) on the right in the ‘ Junior Manilva Basket Ball Team’-  who are the Regional Champions!
After supper we will channel hop and find something to watch.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF A ' HELLUVA' WEEK;

MONDAY 30th / MAY 2016.

We were both up early this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas to the solicitors to re-negotiate the contract on the house which we have not been able to do so before this week due to Brenda being indisposed; its up for renewal in February and I had agreed verbally with them, we gave them our maintenance/repair list which has the various damp problems in the bathroom/office/main bedroom & lounge, all of the four shutters need attention on the front of the house, various small maintenance jobs around the house and most importantly we must have a new electric oven for the main kitchen ASAP!! Watch this space.

When we came back I rang a new car hire company in Marbella that Carlos used last week, which he highly recommended, a very helpful lady has arranged a ‘Nissan 7x Seater’-  fully comprehensive etc.- for the two weeks when the folks are here, its a ‘LOT’ cheaper and better than the normal 5/6 seater that I had on order from our regular car hire company!( now cancelled) Watch this space.

Today is another glorious day down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ It was already hot as we set off down through the vine fields to Sabinillas this morning, the sky is bright blue with no clouds, there is no breeze and by lunchtime it will be very hot, the rest of the week is going to be more of the same, we are getting the fans out around the house ready for the prolonged hot weather! See the pictures below of Llandudno this morning and the Albert Dock in Liverpool.

In  ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ this week ‘Reina’ is back with us now for the four days from Tuesday to Friday inc and on Saturday ‘ Scruffy’ is with us for a sleep over; of course ‘ Chispa’ come calling in at different times during the day & evening to see her friends and us!

This evening we have our appointments down at the surgery with the Chiropodist for our monthly check ups before supper; ‘ Cold Roast Chicken’ & twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ with Mixed Salad. The menus for the rest of the week are being chosen later. Mario Jnr is with us on Tuesday & Thursday evening for his English conversation class with us.

Tomorrow morning we are shooting across to Estepona, first thing, as I need to get my haircut etc at the Barbers, we are also taking our ‘Carriage Clock’ back to the jewellers ( second time!) to get it re-checked/repaired again; we are then going up to the ‘Poligamo –Industrial Estate’ to find a suitable electric oven and get some prices quotes! We will then carry, if we have the time, to ‘La CaƱada’ above Marbella for some shopping, trousers for Brenda and  ‘ Jesus’ Sandles for me. Watch this space.

Yesterday evening we watched the ‘ Grand Prix of Monaco’ which turned out to be the most exciting ‘Grand Prix’ in ages as Lewis Hamilton won in a rain effected race, he’s the finest wet weather driver and he cut the drivers title deficit to Rosberg to 24 points! We then caught, for the first time, over on BBC 1 the excellent series “ Wallander “ about a eponymous Swedish police inspector played by Kenneth Branagh, its very gripping and the atmosphere created with the low light filming is mesmeric!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

" CORPUS CHRISTI SUNDAY " IN SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 29th/ MAY 2016.

We managed a short lie in this morning and after freshening up we had our breakfast to set us up for the day ahead, ‘Campo Poached Eggs on Toast’ with mugs of tea; we then went out to see the ‘ Corpus Christi ‘ parade from the church up through the village, at everyone of the ‘ Tableaus’ set up in front of the houses its stops and prayers are said and the children in their first communion best clothes throw Rose Petals and all the village sings hymns; see the pictures above.

Today is going to be the hottest day so far this year, the breeze has dropped and the sun was out early, its already hot and by lunchtime it will reach 28/29 degs, the week ahead is looking fine and settled with more hot sunshine and fine weather, back to normal for June!

At lunchtime we are going up to ‘Bar Castillo’ for a light  ‘Paella’ lunch and a cool drink sat outside in the warm sunshine, later I will collect the Roast Chicken from the ‘ Rotisserie ‘- see below.

For our supper this evening, I’ve made the ‘ Russian Salad ‘ to my own recipe, Boiled Diced Potatoes, Chopped Boiled ‘ Campo¡ Eggs’ Chopped Garden Pea & Baby Carrots, Crushed Tuna & Diced Cooked Red Pimento, all seasoned and mixed with ‘ Hellmans ‘ Light’ Mayonnaise.

At the moment I’m listening to the ‘Pete Black’ request show on Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ which he broadcasts ‘ live’ from Studio 2 in ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ between 12-00 to 2.00 pm every Sunday.

This afternoon we will watch the ‘Grand Prix of Monaco’ before settling down later to channel hop, after supper we will find a good film to watch. Last night we followed the football as Real Madrid beat Atl.Madrid on penalties in the ‘ UEFA Champions League Final’ in Milan with who else but Ronaldo scoring the winning goal! At the same time we caught the Final of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ when a Magician Richard Jones was the surprise winner!
