THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A STILL SUNNY MANILVA;

A OVERCAST & CLOUDY, BUT STILL DRY, SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 31st/ OCTOBER 2017.

I was up early this morning to welcome back ‘ Reina’ for the day, she joined us on the bed , along with ‘Charlie’ – who jumps up when he’s ready to go out, he does his exercises first, we then all went out for the first walk of the day, ‘Reina’ shot into her duvet, we walked down the lower part of the village, before any of the wet stuff hit us, both ‘ Charlie & ‘Lolo’ are very good and are into the routine, we then came back up to the house along ‘ Calle Mar ‘ where there are just two ‘Construction’ workers digging a small hole to attach the emergency water supply, otherwise there is no sign of any major activity, at the moment!  Watch this space.

‘Charlie’ is due to be collected early this evening, after Jan & Brian return from the ‘UK’ - then possibly ‘Lolo’ depending on the flight times, back from Lanzarote, for Marta & Jose, if not he will be picked up tomorrow morning, when ‘ Reina’ is back for the day.

As we were out it was still overcast & cloudy, with a stiff breeze, no sign of any of the wet stuff, at the moment, the forecast is for it to set in for the next 4/5 days! On Sunday it clears away and the sun returns but still hovering in the low 20s, next week is looking dry & sunny but still only reaching the low 20s, watch this space.

See below a reminder of what Sabinillas beach looks like on a fine day!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘Pan-Seared Calves Liver ‘ – dusted in seasoned flour, with Crispy Smoked Bacon, Grilled ‘English’ Pork Sausages ( as it’s ‘English’ sausage Week!)  and garnished with seared Button Mushrooms, accompanied with a sauceboat of ‘Red Wine’ Onion Gravy, with whole Baby Green Beans on the side along with ‘ crispy’ diced New Potatoes tossed in foaming butter.

On Wednesday I’m making my famous “ Beef Curry “ with Brenda’s equally famous ‘ Basmati Boiled Rice ‘ – along with all the trimmings.

We are now up to date with all the serials that we follow, this evenings it’s the final episode of ‘ Our Girl ‘ and next Sunday the last episode of the ‘ The Last Post ‘ – then there are all new series starting, we are also watching all the other ‘English’ TV Channels on the new system,including all the
various Quiz shows.

We have a basket of assorted sweets ready for if/when all the local children come calling for their ‘ Trick or Treat ‘ Halloween night, there is a special extravaganza happening in the ‘ Casa de Torres ‘ in the next street during the evening, the ‘ adult ‘ one was on Saturday evening down in the ‘Pabellon’ by the sports ground.

Tomorrow it’s a ‘National Bank Holiday’  here in Spain, when they celebrate ‘All Saints Day ‘ – when all the locals visit the cemetery and decorate all the burial plots with flowers.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

ANOTHER WARM & SUNNY START TO WEEK HERE IN SUNNY MANILVA.

MONDAY 30th/ OCTOBER 2017.

I was up first to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot into her duvet and we then took ‘ Charlie & Lolo’ for their first walk of the day, they had both let us know that it was time to go out, ‘ Charlie ‘ jumped on the bed and ‘Lolo’ barked, we then went for our walk around the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia ‘ before coming back for our breakfast, you’ve guessed, ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of strong tea, to get the week ahead on the go, in the right direction!

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ ‘Reina’ is with us for the next 3 days, the same next week, both ‘Lolo & Charlie’ are due to be collected sometime tomorrow, ‘Charlie’ is back in December for 1 night and then for a week over ‘Xmas’

We have another glorious day ahead down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ – the sun was out early and the sky is already bright blue, it’s clear and settled, with no breeze, by lunchtime it will be in the mid 20s, yesterday ended up very hot and sunny, the wet stuff is still due to hit us over the next few days, but by the weekend it will be back to normal for the time of the year, watch this space.

See below a picture showing Gibraltar and Africa in all its glory, showing the coast from Sotogrande, in the bottom left corner.

As we were getting ourselves sorted this morning we were listening, via the ‘internet’ to our favourite ‘ Castle Radio FM ‘ broadcasting ‘ live ‘ from ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ with the  ‘Breakfast Show ‘ with Andrew Charles. He announced that the station is moving, more news to come, “ Onwards & Upwards “ as I say! So I sent in a request for ‘ Sir’ Malcolm & ‘Lady ‘ Brenda, which he played, ( Beth Hart!)

I also offered, again, to bring back my show, produced and broadcast ‘ live ‘ from my office/studio her in the house, it sounds like I’m in the future plans, so I could be back with my show “ Sir Malcolm’s Classic Saturday Session “ which you can listen to on the ‘ WWW Internet ‘ – “ Canada, Australia, UK & Europe “ – are you ready?!  Watch this space.

The menus for the week are starting to take shape; this evening we are having ‘ Cold Roast Top Side of Beef’ with a fry-up of all the leftover vegetables & potatoes, on Tuesday it’s going to be ‘Calves Liver & Bacon ‘ in a Onion Gravy, then on Wednesday I’m making my famous ‘ Beef Curry’ with Brenda’s equally famous ‘ Basmati Rice’! The rest of the week and over the weekend is still in the planning stages, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the sports results from over the weekend; last night we watched, as we were having supper, the ‘ Grand Prix of Mexico ‘ as Lewis Hamilton won his 4th ‘World Championship ‘ – meanwhile over here in ‘ La Liga’ Girona beat Real Madrid 2-1 for the first time in their history, Barcelona won 0-2 in Bilbao, over in the ‘ Premier League’ Everton lost, again, 2-0, Manchester City won 2-3 and Liverpool won 3-0, for a change!

We will catch up with all the programmes that we have missed over the weekend, later, on the ‘BBC I PAD & ITV Hub’ – then channel hop on the new system, we are going to sign up for the year, as there is so much to watch and the reception is very good, Lee & Daniela offered to pick up our ‘Bacardi & Bombay Sapphire Gin’ from Gibraltar on their way home from work, the cost is very low, compared with here in Spain!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A STILL SUNNY MANILVA.

..

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 29th/ OCTOBER 2017.

No lie in this morning as ‘ Charlie’ missed the hour going back and came and jumped on the bed at his regular time, ‘ Lolo’ then got up from his bed and joined in, we took them for their first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, they are both very good sleepers, so we can’t complain, when we returned we had a quick toast & tea, both the dogs also had their meal, they both have good appetites, especially ‘ Lolo’ – we then got today’s ‘ Sunday Roast’ on the go.

Today it’s a little cloudy but the sun is still breaking through, there is also a light breeze, so its hovering on the 21/22 degs mark for now, tomorrow , at the start of the week, it’s the same, then for the next three days we are in for some of the wet stuff, before it picks up again, going into next weekend, when it will be back to warm & sunny, watch this space.

I first got the ‘ Roast Top Side of Beef ‘ into the oven, I seasoned the joint and laid it on a ‘Trivet’ of assorted vegetables, it’s then roasted in a very hot oven, covered in tin foil, for the first part, before taking it off and finishing the roasting until the blood runs, after testing with along skewer, then left to rest. I make my famous finger-licking pan gravy in the traditional way, de-glazing the roast tray/ flour & a strong Beef & Vegetables stock added, adjusting the seasoning to taste and the colour with Gravy Browning.

Meanwhile the ‘ Second/Vegetables Chef ‘ was preparing the Cabbage with Acelgas, Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Garden Peas and Parsley New Potatoes, finally she par-boiled the potatoes for the ‘ Goose Fat Roasties ’- after draining them I shook the pan and tossed then in the ‘Goose Fat’ ready to go in the oven this evening!

Lee & Daniela are joining us for supper this evening, we are having a small selection of Tapas to start and the dessert is ‘ Creme Caramel ‘ with Strawberries, Aperitifs,  Fine White & Red Wines will be served & a cocktail, for a change, on departure! Watch this space.

After showing we are taking the dogs out for their main walk of the day. later we go out before supper and the finally late at night before going to bed, they are both into the routine.

On the way back, at lunchtime, we called into ' Bar Castillo' for a cool drink and Tapas, sat in the warm sunshine under a bright blue sky.

Our new/updated TV system is working so this evening we will be watching the  ‘Grand Prix of Mexico ‘ live on ‘Sky Sports’ and then later catching up with all the news/sports results, as well as finding something to watch from the selection of over 500 programme channels!
