I was up early this morning to welcome back
little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot upstairs and joined us on our
bed for a little lie in, ‘ Charlie’ is arriving this evening, for his two week
holiday, they get on very well together, in fact she tries to kiss him all the
time, he puts his large paw on her head to say ‘ calm down dear ‘!
After a quick freshen up we had our
breakfast, ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ – open on Brown for Brenda – smothered
in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce with mugs of hot/strong ‘PG Tips’ We then prepared the
shopping list for tomorrow morning, I’m out on my travels, down to Sabinillas,
for the weekly shopping.
Juan, the handyman, called in to say that
he will be back on Saturday morning, to finish the job on the downstairs
toilet, he couldn’t come yesterday as he had to take his wife to the local hospital
in Estepona for some treatment on her strained neck.
Just a reminder that on Saturday morning it’s
the annual ‘ Manilva Marathon Mountain Bike Race ‘ starting in front of the
Town Hall at the top of our street, watch this space for all the pictures.
This morning the sky has cleared and the
sun broke through by the time we were up, it’s going to be another warm &
sunny day, by lunchtime in the high 20s, tomorrow and over the weekend it’s
going to be the same, in parts of inland Andalusia its hovering on the 36/37
degs mark, next week is looking also good, again, in the high 20s – low 30s,
watch this space.
See below some pictures of ‘The Beatles ‘ back in 1962 at the Pier Head in
Liverpool and in 1964 in Canada at the ‘Maple Leaf Gardens ‘ in Toronto, they
stayed at the old ‘King Edward Hotel ‘ – they were mobbed on the way to the
hotel and lost their shirts!
In the lunchtime post we received a 'Post Card' from our very dear friends Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, from their visit to ' Grand Bend ' the other weekend, thanks!!
It’s the ‘ Chef’s & Staff ‘ night off
this evening so we are going out for a ‘ Tapas’ supper, we will have to find
out who is open as after all the celebrations over last weekend some of the
local bars are closed, as usual, at this time of the year, for their holidays/rest!
Watch this space.
Yesterdays picture of the ‘ Pensioner Grape
Crusher ‘ showed me preparing to go to work, see below me ‘warming up’ the
crowd with the help of the local ‘ Amigos ‘ as we started to crush the 2011
vintage!
Yesterday in the ‘ Vuelta a Espana 17 ‘
Chris Froome had his lead cut by 42 seconds, as he struggled on the gruelling
final climb, one of his team mated helped him to the finish, Vincenzo Nibali is
his main rival, 1 min, 16 secs behind him, going in today’s ‘Stage 18’ from Suances
to Santo Toribio de Liebana over 168 kms with a hilly route and summit finish,
again, watch this space.
See below a old picture of the ‘ Liverpool Magistrates Court ‘ on Dale Street
in Liverpool, I ‘ appeared ‘ there many
times, on a Thursday morning, at 10-00 am, in the dock, applying for the ‘ Extensions of Licence ‘ for the “ Stork
Hotel ‘ just around the corner in Queens Square, it was also the morning for
the local ‘ladies of the night’ to appear in front of the magistrates to be
sentenced later, they used to approach me to ‘ stand for them’ thinking I was a
Barrister, in my ‘Black Jacket &
Pinstripes’ with a Silver Tie etc, with my roll of ‘extensions’ wrapped in Red Silk!! Happy Days & Memories.
This evening we will have our ‘ Happy Hour ‘
cocktails before we set off later to our evening ‘ on the town ‘ in downtown sunny Manilva.
