A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 21st/ SEPTEMBER 2017.

We were both up early this morning and after a quick freshen up we had our regular breakfast before Brenda set off to catch the bus down to Sabinillas to go to the hairdressers for her appointment for the full works, she is coming back up to the village on the bus at lunchtime, we get the locals pensioner’s rate!

See the pictures below of the beach down in Sabinillas this morning.

This morning the sun has already broken through, the sky has cleared and there is just a very light breeze, it’s going to be another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ reaching 25/26 degs by this afternoon, tomorrow is the same and then over the weekend it’s going to be a little cooler, then next week we will be back to normal for the time of the year, warm & sunny hovering in the high 20s, the following week of our holiday, when all the folks are here, is looking warm & settled with just a very small hint of the wet stuff, watch this space.

Yesterday after speaking to Kelvin, via E-Mail we have arranged to met him & Gaye at the ‘Ke’ Bar in Sotogrande Marina, next week, on Tuesday lunchtime, they are staying at the ‘Hotel Club Maritimo De Sotogrande ‘ which is just opposite on the side of the marina, we are then going out with them on Wednesday evening for a ‘ Spanish’ supper, that they have requested, watch this space.

We caught on BBC TV 2 yesterday afternoon the coverage of this year’s ‘ UCI World Championship Cycling‘ from Bergen in Norway, it was the ‘Men’s Time Trial’ taking place over a 31 km course, normally the ‘Time Trail’ racing is boring,  over a flat course, but this was the most exciting ‘Time Trail’ in the history of the sport, the organisers had at the end of the race added a gruelling climb’ over 3 kms, up the 9% gradient of ‘ Mount Floyeno’! – in front of packed, excited and very well behaved crowd. For the first time in the history of the sport they allowed a bike change, swapping a heavier time trial machine for a regular road bike for the final climb.

It all took place on a Red Carpet, at the foot of the climb, where the rider could jump off his first bike and onto the second, with the help of a push, some elected to do it, other didn’t! Britain’s Chris Froome was amongst the favourites after winning two ‘Grand Tours’ this year, it was made more exciting as the rain came crashing down near the end of the race, as all the favourites were out on the roads, in parts of the cobbled streets of the picturesque town, he finished third, the winner was Tom Doumoulin of the Netherlands, he’s the new ‘ star’ of the ‘Time Trail’ and also won this year’s ‘ Giro’d’Italia. “ Breathtaking “

Staying on the sport for the moment; over in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona beat Eiber 6-1 with Messi scoring 4, Real Madrid were beaten at home by Real Betis 0-1 in the 94th minute leaving them 7 points adrift of Barcelona!  Meanwhile in ‘ Cup’ matches over in the UK, Leicester beat Liverpool 2-0, their fourth loss, as Everton won 3-0 against Sunderland and Manchester City won 1-2 at West Bromwich Albion.

This evening for our supper we are having the rest of the ‘Casserole of Sliced Beef Steak’ in a rich Red Wine, Mushroom & Onion/Shallot sauce, with fresh vegetables and ‘ Parsley’ New Potatoes in their skins, on Friday it’s ‘Fish Night’ and then on Saturday it’s ‘ Steak Night’

On Sunday it’s the ‘ Head Chefs’ birthday so I’ve been given the day off and we are going out for a ‘ Roast’ Sunday lunch down to ‘La Taberan 2 ‘ in Castlillo de la Duquesa, Carlos, Mano’s son, is the new Bar Manager. It’s his apartment at the ‘Manilva Green Aparthotel’  that Sandra & Bill are staying in when they arrive on Saturday 30th September for a week, we are going to arrange with him for the keys etc. Watch this space.

Tomorrow morning, as usual, I’m out on my travels, down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping etc, today we are taking things very easy as it’s starting to get near to our two weeks of excitement, out & about on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ as we get ready for the arrival of all the folks next weekend, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day, See above.
