FRIDAY 15th/ SEPTEMBER 2017.
We were both up early this morning, after a
quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.
meanwhile Brenda took ‘Charlie’ out for his first walk of the day, I had my
toast & tea in ‘ Itzabar’ and was first into ‘Mercadona’ as it opened, I
then walked along to the ‘ English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers, the TV
Times and a card, as well as a book off the 1 euro counter!
I hung around for the ‘Bedding Shop’ to
open and checked out the cushions, no luck so we will call into our favourite
furnishing shop ‘La Casa’ in Estepona on the way back from the hospital in a
couple of weeks time, we need new cushions for the ‘ chill-out’ room.
I then shot along the promenade to the far end
to the local market and picked up the fresh flowers and some new wall plants,
next I stopped at ‘ Super Sol’ for the English essentials before shooting back up through the vine
fields, around the four hairpin bends, back to sunny Manilva to up-pack the car
at the house.
This morning the ‘Poinente’ is blowing
stronger, overnight is increased, the sky is bright blue and the sun was out
early, it’s as expected a little cooler today, yesterday by the afternoon it
was very hot, it’s now 28 degs, over the weekend it’s going to be 26/27 degs and
next week is now looking warm and sunny hovering in the mid 20’s, watch this
space.
For our ‘Fish’ supper this evening we are
having ‘Pan Seared Fillets of Turbot – Rodaballo ‘ dusted in seasoned flour and cooked in foaming
Lime Butter, garnished with fresh/local ‘ Gambas a la Plancha ‘ seared on Sea
Salt, on the ‘Fish Market Counter’ in ‘Mercadona’ this morning there was a new ‘Fishmonger’
who offered to fillet the whole ‘Rodaballo’ that I had just bought, we are
having them with Garden Peas, Broccoli Florets and Baby New Potatoes in their skins.
Tomorrow evening for our ‘Steak Night’ it’s
going to be ‘Grilled Fillet Steaks’ with all the trimmings, then on Sunday we
are having ‘ Medallions of Pork Fillet ‘ – another ‘ Gourmet ‘ weekend!
This evening here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’
we have a new dog joining us for a sleep over and all day tomorrow, it’s friend
of Daniela’s who has an emergency, he’s called ‘ Bo’ and is a friendly small dog,
we are taking him ‘ un-seen’ as ‘Charlie’ gets on with all the other dogs, watch
this space.
Today we have made the final
bookings/arrangements for the ‘Itinerary’ when Sandra & Bill are down here
with us on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in the first week in October, it’s a surprise
trip ‘ up-country’ into the mountains for lunch, watch this space, all will be revealed
once they are here in sunny Manilva!
Now the full ‘IT’ is confirmed as a ‘Welcoming/Birthday
Dinner’ on Saturday - a traditional ‘
Sunday Roast Lunch’ – a visit to Rhonda on Monday and a day out in Gibraltar on
Tuesday calling into the ‘Sotogrande Marina’ on the way back, the sights and sounds of Malaga on Wednesday,
followed by a look around Estepona on Thursday before lunch with the sisters,
then on Friday the surprise’ trip’ into the unknown, also frequent visits to
the ‘Bars’ of sunny Manilva will be fitted in, no doubt, watch this space.
One bit of good news, at the moment, is
that the rate of exchange for the ‘Pound/Euro ‘ has gone up 3 points if the
past couple of days, hopefully it will remain stronger when our next round of ‘Pension’
transfers are due at the start of October, it’s also a good time to exchange
the ‘ Canadian Dollar ‘ for Euros!!
