A NOW CLEAR AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 23rd/ SEPTEMBER 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet first thing, no deliveries, no church bells ringing and no children playing out in the streets, so far, I then treated ourselves to a light breakfast of ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon, Mushrooms &  ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs with buttered toast and mugs of tea, to set us up for the day ahead.

We are taking things easy today as from tomorrow it’s all happening down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ and in sunny Manilva! We have a ‘ Helluva’ week ahead and then from Friday/Saturday it’s ‘party time’ as all the folks arrive here, we spoke on the ‘ Skype’ video yesterday afternoon to Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada for a catch up with them before they set off, later today, from the airport in Toronto for their flight to Madrid.

See below Sandra & Bill with their passports, ready for the off!

At the moment in the Toronto area they are experiencing a unprecedented ‘heat wave’ – in the high 30s, with the humidity even higher. Sandra & Bill are leaving in their shorts but when they arrive in Madrid tomorrow morning it’s going to be as low as 13/14 degs before it warms up later in the day back into the high 20s! We are making contact with them at their Hotel in Madrid, after they have had a chance to settle in, to welcome them to Spain and also check that our mobile phones are working/connecting, watch this space.

Meanwhile here in sunny Manilva this morning it’s started overcast & cloudy, for the first time in a long while, the forecast for later is looking a little better, with the sun breaking through and the sky clearing, reaching 23/24 degs, overnight 17/18 degs, for the first time in many months we had a light sheet over us in bed last night, next week is now looking warm, dry and settled, hovering in the mid 20s, but sadly the following week when all the folks are here is still showing some of the wet stuff around, but still in the mid 20s,watch this space.

See below some pictures taken over the past few days of Liverpool showing the new ‘ Cityscape’ – it shows how the city is changing, the ‘Liverpool One’ shopping mall with the Albert Docks in the background and finally the ‘Pier Head’ looking across to the Wirral and North Wales on the horizon.

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and then left to rest, before slicing it into fingers ‘French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms with deep-fried Onion rings dipped in ‘ Cruzecampo’ Beer Batter, whole Baby Green Beans and for a change twice-cooked classic ‘ Pont Neuf - Doorstep ' Chips with ' Bearnaise'sauce on the side.

This weekend over in the ‘ Premier League’ Everton welcome Bournemouth, Liverpool travel down the M6 to play Leicester and Manchester City are at home to Crystal Palace, here in ‘ La Liga’ Real Madrid travel to Alaves and Barcelona have a short trip to Girona. No ‘ Grand Prix’ this weekend, this afternoon we will watch the ‘ Elite Women’s Race’ at the UCI World Road Championships’ in Bergen, Norway.

Last night we watched the final of ‘ Celebrity MasterChef ‘ in a tense final as Angellica Bell beat Ulrika Jonsson and Dev Griffin, with her three-course meal of a ‘Camembert, Fig & Onion Tart, Pan-Fried Halibut & Prawns and a Pear Bourdaloue’ for dessert.

We then caught the 3rd episode of ‘ Cold Feet ‘ on the ‘ITV Hub’- the show was at its unflinching best with a abortion dilemma for a young couple, business problems for one of the Lady’s as her publishing business folded, the other one having to look after her old mother, the un-lucky accountant/financial advisor taking on a dodgy client and the single, older, guy moving in with his lover and planning to have a baby, all with the fun ,the light heartedness, the grit, the moments of crisis & unhappiness that the series is famous for, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
