We were both up this morning after ‘
Charlie’ jumped on the bed to let us know that it was time for his first walk
of the day, Brenda was on duty, this morning, again, meanwhile I freshened up
as we were going out on our travels for a ‘Recce’ to check out the route and
timings for our final day out with Sandra & Bill. After our normal breakfast
we went down to the car park for the car and set off on our travels.
The sun was out and the sky had cleared,
there is a little breeze making it very pleasant, warm & sunny, cooler in
the shade, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 28/29degs, tomorrow is the same and
then for the rest of the week and over the weekend it’s hovering on the 24/25
degs mark, next week is similar if a little warmer and then for the first week
in October, when all the folks are here it’s going to be warm & sunny in
the mid to high 20s! Watch this space.
See the picture of the ‘ Rock of Gibraltar ‘
taken this morning as we were passing through
‘La Linea de Conception’
On the way back from the ‘ Recce’ we called
into the ‘English Butchers’ in Puerto de la Duquesa for something for this evenings
supper, we are having ‘Pan-Seared Lambs Liver’ with their Homemade ‘Traditional’
Pork Sausages with a fry-up of the leftover vegetables & the ‘Breton’
potatoes from last night with some fresh, local, Cabbage with Alcelgas ( Swiss
Chard) that we picked up from the local Vegetables & Fruit shop in the
village on the way home. On Tuesday it’s going to be ‘Escalopes of Chicken
Breast’ and then on Wednesday I’m making a ‘ Beef, Mushroom & Onion/Shallot
Casserole ‘ using sliced Beef Entrecote!
Just a quick update on the sports results
from the weekend; Liverpool could only manage a 1-1 draw with Burnley, Manchester
City beat Watford 0-6 and Manchester Utd beat Everton 4-0, over here in ‘La
Liga’ Barcelona scrapped a win 1-2 at Getafe and Real Madrid won 1-3.
Over in the ‘Grand Prix of Singapore’
starting in heavy rain there was a crash on the first corner taking out Vettel,
Raikkonen & Verstappen and giving Lewis Hamilton the lead, he drove a
masterful race to win in the rain, gaining him a 28-pont advantage in the
driver’s championship.
This week in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ Charlie’
goes home tomorrow but is back with us at the end of October for a five-day
long weekend, little princess ‘Reina’ is back with us on Tuesday & Wednesday
this week.
On Thursday morning Brenda is going down on
the bus to Sabinillas as she has an appointment with her hairdresser, Anne, for
the full works, then on Friday morning I’m out on my travels back down in
Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, finally on Sunday lunchtime we are going
down to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ to ‘La Taberna 2 ‘ to try their Roast Lunch, for the first time, it also happens to be my
birthday! Watch this space.
We had a long chat with Sandra & Bill over
in Everett,Ontario, Canada yesterday afternoon, early morning over there, we
now have all the hotel details on their travels, mobile phone numbers and
flight details as they set off on their travels to sunny Spain and sunny Manilva
this coming Saturday, they arrive in Madrid on Sunday morning and down here on
the ‘ Costa del Sol’ on Saturday the 30th September, the full ‘Itinerary’
is now planned/arranged for a ‘ Helluva’ week with us in sunny Manilva, we are
getting more excited by the day and can’t wait to meet Sandra & Bill for
the first time, the start of a long friendship! All our families and friends over in the UK
& Australia are also very happy & excited to welcome our new ‘Canadian’
relatives into the extended family all over the World.
Last night we settled down to watch the
final episode ( only 2 sadly ) of ‘Strike: The Silkworm’ – an overly convoluted
whodunit saved by the grumpy charisma of the detective and his very able
assistant. It was a little complicated, but in the end all was revealed as the
murderer was caught, with a rugby tackle by ‘Robin’! Next year they are due to
return in ‘ Strike: Career of Evil’ – we can’t wait, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
