We were both up early this morning, I saw ‘Reina’
back with us for the day, she shot upstairs and soon found ‘ Charlie’ her
friend, he spent the night down stairs on the settees and then came upstairs to
let us know it was time to go out, Brenda took him for his first walk of the
day, I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.
He arrived last night and has settled in
very well, he came out with us for our ‘ Tapas’ supper at ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ He
knows his way to our house, Brian told him he was going to ‘ Malcolm’s’ when he
got out of the car and he shot down our street and came straight in! Its’
lovely to have him back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – he’s a real character
and great company, he’s with us for two weeks and then is back at the end of
October for a long weekend.
'Chispa' has just come calling so I have the three dogs at my feet as I'm up in the office/studio posting the Blog!
I went along to ‘ Itzabar ‘ for my toast
& tea before ‘ Mercadona ‘ opened, it was back to normal this morning, not
busy, the shelves well stocked and the staff not under pressure, I then called
into the ‘ English Bookshop ‘ for the local newspaper, Steve, took a large bag
of Brenda’s ‘cast-offs’ for the Charity shop next door, it opens later in the
morning ,she has started to discard the smaller sizes, at long last, the Charity
shop will be well stocked with top of the range clothes!
I then went along to Puerto de la Duquesa
to the ‘ English Butchers’ for Sunday’s ‘Leg of Lamb Steaks’ - at the same time I
stocked up with Homemade Pork Sausages, Smoked Back Bacon, Gammon Steak, etc
for another day. Finally I came back along to the far end of the promenade to
go to the local market for the fresh flowers, I shot back up through the Vine
Fields around the hairpin bends to the house to unload.
This evening, before supper, we are going
down to ‘Puerto de la Duquesa ‘ to book/arrange our tables at our favourite
restaurant “ Restaurante Macues “ for
the Saturday, at the end of September, a belated ‘ Birthday ‘ for me, when
Sandra & Bill arrive down here with us, they are staying in an apartment at
the ‘Manilva Green Aparthotel ’ that we
have arranged for them, Norah & Jenny arrive on the Friday and are
staying at the ‘ H10 Estepona Palace ‘ Hotel for the week,
then on the Sunday we are all going out
for a late lunch to our other favourite restaurant ‘ Kokomo ‘ for their
excellent ‘ Roast Lunch ‘ Watch this space.
After typing & posting the Blog I’m
making this evenings supper, my famous ‘ Fish Pie ‘ topped with Brenda’s
equally famous ‘ Mashed Potato, I start by sweating-off a ‘ Mirepoix’ of finely
diced Vegetables, Carrots, Leeks, Celery & Onions with a White Wine reduction,
a rich Fish Stock, made after lightly poaching the Cod, Hake & Salmon
fillets, is then made into a ‘ White Wine ‘Veloute’ Fish Cream Sauce, I then
add the Prawns, Crab & Mussels before adjusting the seasoning and consistency
to taste, Brenda then tops the dish with her ‘ Mashed Potato ‘ ready to go in
the oven later this evening.
This morning we have another glorious day
down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early and the sky is blue,
there is no breeze so by lunchtime it will be 28/29 degs – over the weekend it’s
more of the same, next week is now looking very warm & sunny hovering on
the 30s mark, watch this space.
Yesterday in the ‘ Vuelta a Espana 17 ‘ Chris
Froome, back on form again, attacked, late, at the final climb to the summit
finish and extended his lead over Nibali, who he left in his wake, today’s ‘
Stage 19 ‘ goes from Caso to Angliru over 153 kms, a hilly route with five
climbs before a downhill finish, watch this space.
After supper this evening we will channel
hop and find something to watch, perhaps a good film for a change. Tomorrow
morning it’s the ‘Mountain Bike Marathon Race ‘ starting and finishing outside
the Town Hall at the top of our street, at the same time the handyman, Juan, is
calling in to finish the work on the downstairs toilet, on Sunday we have no
plans so will be taking things easy.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
