I was up early this morning and shot off
down to Sabinillas as the sun was rising over the horizon of the Mediterranean,
I found a place to park and the Assistant Manager, Roberto, looked after me in
our Bank, I arranged a transfer between accounts and was back in the house
before little princess ‘ Reina’ was dropped off for the day by Daniela, Brenda
had grabbed her shower, I’m having mine later, we had our regular breakfast of ‘
Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea.
See below the beach down in Sabinillas this morning, back to normal after the holiday hoards have left!
Yesterday afternoon after our appointment with
the relief Chiropodist, Laura, Carmen, the regular lady is due back in work in
two weeks, so we will be with her for next appointment in the middle of
October, afterwards we shot down to Sabinillas to top up the car with petrol
and put it through the jet wash, I then spotted a parking space outside the ‘
Movistar ‘ shop, I called in to enquire about the ‘Fiber Optic’ contract, sadly
with no luck, despite the engineers last week installing all the cables down
our street and putting the junction box on the wall of our house?! We are still
not registered on the system and the only answer I could get was ‘ Hasta Manana’!!

Today we are in for another ‘ hot one’ –
the sky is blue, the breeze has dropped and the sun was out early, it’s due to
reach the high 20s again, tomorrow is the same and over the weekend it’s
getting a little warmer, next week it’s more of the same, warm & sunny and
reaching the low 30s at times, watch this space.
See below the ‘ Ferry Across the Mersey ‘
this morning taken from Seacombe in Wallasey on the Wirral Peninsula.
‘Chispa’ has been in & out all the time
looking for her friends, no doubt she will call in later, tomorrow ‘ Charlie ‘
is arriving for his two week holiday with us here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – he’s
back again at the end of October for a long weekend break but we are not sure
if he’s with us, as usual, over the Xmas/New Year period.
Last night for our supper we had ‘ Grilled
Chicken Wings’ with a Baked Potato, this evening it’s going to be a large ‘Grilled
Entrecote Steak ‘ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and then left
to ‘rest’ before slicing it into fingers ‘ French style’ and serving it with
the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce on the side, finely sliced Green Beans and of
course twice-cooked Chips.
Tomorrow night it’s the ‘ Chef’s’ night off
so I’m taking the staff out for a Tapas supper! On Friday the ‘ Second
Chef/Vegetable Chef’ has requested my famous ‘ Fish Pie ‘ topped with her
equally famous ‘ Mashed Potato’! On Saturday it will be ‘ Steak Night’ and then
on Sunday the ‘ staff’ are fancying ‘Lamb’?! Watch this space.
Yesterday in the ‘ Vuelta a Espana 17’
Chris Froome was untouchable in the ‘Individual Time Trial’ around LograƱo, he
extended his lead overall to 2 minutes over his nearest rival going into today’s
‘Stage 17’ from Villadiego to Los Machucos over 180 kms, with steep climbs and
a summit finish.
See below a picture taken six years ago of the ‘ Pensioner Grape Crusher’ before the new pit was opened in the ‘Plaza De La Vendimia’ in 2013, it used to be built on the lay-by in front of ‘Bar Rojas’ back then!
Yesterday evening after supper we watched
the first episode of the new series of “ Doctor Foster “ starring Suranne Jones
in the title role, we had not seen the first series but soon caught up with the
plot, as she is the ultimate wronged wife, at her vengeful best! Simmering like a forgotten kettle!! She
gate-crashed her ex-husbands housewarming party, rifled through his new young
wife’s drawers and duped him into thinking she wanted to sleep with him- only
to repel his advances, right at the end of the show the ‘ piece de resistance’
when after her 15 year old son left her home to live with his father, she
dissolved her wedding ring in a jar of acid!! What next?!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
