A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 4th/ SEPTEMBER 2017.

Well we had a nice long lie in this morning as it’s a local bank holiday in sunny Manilva, the village is very quiet, getting over the weekends celebrations, the big clean up will start in earnest tomorrow morning, after breakfast we sorted ourselves out for the week ahead.

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ little princess ‘ Reina’ is back with us on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, on Thursday ‘ Charlie ‘ ( the Water dog ) arrives for his two weeks annual holiday, ‘Chispa’ has not been out over the weekend, for obvious reasons, but no doubt will be calling in to see all her friends and us! ( she has just called in!)

I need to go down to Sabinillas one morning to chase up the Fiber Optic cable system with the ‘Movistar ‘ shop, as a new contact is needed, I will at the same time call into our Bank to arrange some transfers between accounts, on Friday morning I will be out on my travels for the weekly shopping.

PS; Daniela has just dropped off the new remote control for the TV, that they sourced for us, thanks!

Here in the village on Saturday morning it’s the annual ‘ Mountain Bike Marathon ‘ arranged by the local club, riders from all over Andalusia take part, as well as lots of the locals, it starts at the top of our street in front of the Town Hall and sets off down into the valley through the vine groves, up the hills and into the mountains and then back up from the bottom of the valley, up the very steepest street in the village to finish back outside the Town Hall, watch this space for the pictures.

Over the weekend the Mayor of Estepona posted on his’ Facebook’ page some pictures of the site/works for the new Hospital, on our side of the town, just along the coast road before Estepona, great news as our round/journey will be cut by over 100 kms when it opens!

This morning the sun was out early and the sky is clear and bright blue, there is a stiff breeze, that was not forecast, making is very pleasant as it’s also very hot, reaching 32/33 degs by this afternoon, the rest of the week and over the coming weekend is going to be warm & sunny, hovering on the 28/29 degs mark, watch this space.

See below a picture of the ‘ Pontcysyllte Aquaduct ‘ over the River Dee outside Llangollen in North Wales, the 18 piers/arches carries the canal across the valley, as a young boy I used to ride across it with my dad on our racing bicycles, on the foot/tow path!  A ‘Helluva ‘ experience!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet ‘ with Whole Green Beans & ‘ Lyonnaise ‘ Potatoes, the rest of the week we are still taking one day at the time, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Chris Froome extended his lead in the ‘ Vuelta a Esapana 17’  yesterday when we left his nearest rival at the top of the steep climb up to the finish – today is a rest day, last night the whole race was transferred by plane up North to the to the ‘ La Rioja ‘ Region for tomorrows 40 kms Time Trial around Logroño, the capital.

Lewis Hamilton won the ‘ Italian Grand Prix ‘ at Imola and took, at the same time, the outright championship lead for the first time this season.

See below some pictures of a ‘private’ narrow gauge railway in the back garden/grounds of a couples house, down in the South of England, it’s a ‘ B’ class from the “ Darjeeling & Himalayan Railways “ !!

Just as we were settling down last night our friend & neighbour, Mario, the Mayor, dropped off two ' Vendimia Wine Hats ' - which was very kind of him after his exhausting weekend of ' Civic ' duties!

Last night after supper we watch the final episode of ‘ Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling ‘- the great detective has arrived, with his personal assistant giving up her new job, mortgage and boring boyfriend to  remain with ‘ Strike’ – the killer of the super model led back in a perfect circle, to the victims adopted brother, the creepy uncle/lawyer was on his track, there is more  to come as it’s back next week with another two-part story about the world of London’s literary set ‘ The Silkworm ‘

We are taking things very easy this week, building up our strength, using the exercise bike every day, watching the weight etc, this evening at 6-00 pm our time, mid-day over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, we are calling our dear friends Sandra & Bill, on the Skype video for a catch up with all their news, they read all ours on the Blog! It's a ' Bank Holiday ' over in Canada for ' Labour Day '

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
