Well we had a surprise little lie in this
morning as Daniela’s shift pattern had changed, so she has not dropped off ‘
Reina’ for the day, she will be back with us tomorrow and up to Friday, as
usual, ‘Chispa’ has already been in for her first visit of the day, after quick
showers we had our breakfast of ‘Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, Brenda
has just popped along to the Chemists in ‘Calle Mar’ for our prescription
tablets.
Speaking of ‘ Calle Mar’ the Mayor, Mario,
our neighbour, has just signed the contracts to re-design & pedestrianise
the street, it will take six/nine months in 2 phases, starting date TBC, ( possibly in September ) - all
automobile traffic will be prohibited, except for emergencies/deliveries, all
the bars will have to take down their awnings etc, to conform to the design and
use the same seating/umbrellas! It will be
re-planted and new lighting installed, the access to all the side streets, ie
ours, will be difficult, to say the least, they are also opening a new car park
below the village, on our side, to help with the increased car parking. Watch this space!
The sun was out early this morning and the
sky is clear, it’s already warm & sunny and by lunchtime it be in the high
20s, the ‘ Levente’ breeze has dropped a little, the rest of the week and over
the weekend is the same, next week, on the forecast it’s now showing some of
the ‘wet stuff’ on next Monday/Tuesday (
but still warm)?! Watch this space.
At lunchtime we went along to ' Bar Castillo ' for a cool drink & Tapas, sat on the shady side of the street with a light refreshing breeze, making it rather pleasant, as the World & sunny Manilva passed us by.

See below the ‘ Great Orme Tramway ‘ above
Llandudno yesterday, Britain’s only cable-hauled public road tramway.
For our supper this evening we are having ‘Pan-Seared
Escalope’s of Calves Liver’ dusted in flour, with Grilled English Pork Sausages
‘ and finely sliced Green Beans & our favourite ‘Pommes Lyonnnaise’ –
sliced pan-fried boiled Potatoes and thinly sliced Onions, sautéed in butter
with Parsley.
Just a quick update on last night’s
football over in the ‘ Premier League’ as Manchester City drew with Everton
1-1, a good result for Everton a bad result for ‘ City’ as ‘Wayne Rooney’
scored the goal for Everton, our two friends, both Brian’s, one here in the
village and one over in the UK, will both be very happy!
Meanwhile over at the ‘ Vuelta a Espana ‘
Britain’s Chris Froome has taken the ‘Red Jersey’ and leads the race, only by 2
seconds, from 3 other riders, he was third on Stage 3 in the Pyrenees, today’s
Stage 4 goes from ‘Escaldes-Engordany down to the coast in Tarragona over 198
kms, see the route map below.
Late last night as we were going to bed I
noticed that Sandra & Bill were online on the ‘ Skype’ video, it was 6-00pm over in Canada and they had just
come in from work. I made contact and we had a good catch up with all their
news from a very hot & sunny Everett, Ontario, the countdown to them
arriving down here in sunny Manilva is now only six weeks away, we can’t wait
to meet them, watch this space.
See below pictures of Conwy Quay and the
Castle behind, the ‘Red’ building on the quay is the smallest house in Britain,
72 inches wide & 122 inches tall!
After supper we will settle down and find
something to watch on the TV, we have been following all the programmes on ‘BBC
TV 1/2’ about the 70th anniversary of the Partition between India
& Pakistan, exploring the hidden history of what happened back in 1947,
very harrowing, and revealing the legacy that Partition leaves us with today.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
