A VERY FRESH & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 12th/ AUGUST 2017.

We managed a little lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, after freshening up we had our breakfast of ‘Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, the gas bottle delivery man called and we exchanged bottles, the price has gone up a little, it’s controlled by the Government!

We then planned our weekend, it’s very simple, we are doing nothing, because we can, tomorrow morning we are popping across to Estepona to go to the market down in the Marina, we are going to pick up two of the brightly coloured wall pots, only this time we are going to get them fixed more securely!

This morning the sun broke through early and the sky has cleared as there is still a stiff breeze blowing, making it rather pleasant at the moment, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 27/28 degs+ - tomorrow it’s the same but then on Monday it’s starting to go up again into the mid 30s, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having a large grilled ‘ Entrecote Steak’ seared on a very hot griddle plate ‘Med-Rare’ – then left to rest before cutting it into fingers ‘ French ‘ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, with the classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side; with finely sliced Green Beans and for a change my famous twice-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf ’ Chips( Door steps!)  As I’m cutting them all the leftover potatoes are boiled and made into Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potato’ for tomorrow night’s Banquet!

On Sunday it’s going to be Grilled ‘English Chump Chops’ served on a bed of my famous ‘ Boulangere Potatoes’ with a sauceboat of finger licking ‘Red Wine’ Onion Gravy, lots of Mint sauce on the side with a selection of seasonal vegetables from the ‘ Vegetable Chef'

Well folks it’s the start of the football season as the ‘ Premier League’ over in the UK kicks off today,‘ La Liga’ over here in Spain starts next weekend. Liverpool travel down the M6/M1 to play Watford,Everton are at home to Stoke and Manchester City had to hire a private jet to get down to play newly promoted Brighton& Hove Albion!

After yesterdays pictures of North Wales it brought to mind that we have not heard from the ‘Moffatt’s’ -  Tim & Thea, over in Old Colwyn/Colwyn Bay for a while, we will try and make contact with them on the Skype video over the weekend to catch up with all their news, watch this space.

Next week we are going to go back across to Estepona on Thursday morning as I need to go to my Barber, Manuel, for the full works and Brenda needs various toiletries and a little window shopping, so she tells me!  We will then go to the ‘ Carrefour’ Hypermarket  and ‘La Casa’ at the far end of Estepona.

I will be out on my travels down to Sabinillas on Friday morning for the weekly shopping, when Brenda might join me as we have no dogs in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ ‘Reina’ is with us on Tuesday & Wednesday only next week. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the ‘ Movistar’ engineers will arrive to install the ‘Fiber Optic’ cables down our street to the house, they should have arrived this week “ Hasta Manana “ !

See above some pictures taken earlier this year of ' El Rio Manilva & Los Baños De La Hedionda - the Roman Baths ' which is below in the valley, the pools have sulphur mud which you smear all over you and then wash off in the bath! When you go down there you have to watch out for the Wild Boars in the forest!!

PS; Just a reminder, to all our family & friends, to keep the post cards coming, when you are out & about, we are about to start the 4th board!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
