A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 13th/ AUGUST 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning, all of us, as ‘Reina’ stayed for a sleep over, she went for a walk last night and then again this morning, this is a ‘ first’ as she dosn’t normally ‘do’ walks! Daniela has been taking her out on her health/diet regime ( Reina not Daniela!) and it’s working. She’s back next week on Tuesday & Thursday, then the following week for her normal five days.

This means that we are not going across to the market in Estepona Marina, as we had planned, as by the time she was picked up it was too late, its gets very busy and there is nowhere to park, especially at this time of the year, we will go next Sunday.

Today it’s warm & sunny, there is a little ‘Poinente ‘ breeze blowing, making it very pleasant, hovering on the 26/27 degs mark, next week is going hotter as the breeze drops away, back into the mid 30s, watch this space.

See below a picture taken over the weekend of a ‘ Levanter ‘ cloud hovering over the Rock of Gibraltar.

After our usual breakfast we prepared this evenings supper/banquet, I made a dish of my famous ‘ Boulangere Potatoes’ – hand-cut thinly sliced potatoes layered with sliced onions, seasoned on every level and the potatoes thinner as you build it up, a good/strong Chicken & Vegetable stock is then added and the dish is sealed with tin-foil ready to go in the over this evening, half-way through the cooking I dot the top with knobs of butter and then put it back in the oven to crisp off!

I then made a rich ‘Red Wine’ Onion & Shallot Gravy and marinated the ‘ English Chump Lamb Chops’ in Fine Herbs/Rosemary & Olive Oil, I will sear them on the hot griddle plate and then finish them on top of the ‘ Boulangere Potatoes’

See below the marinated ' English Chump Lamb Chops '

Before;

And after!

Meanwhile the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ was preparing a ‘Bouquetiere ‘ of Vegetables, Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets and Leeks in a Cheese sauce, Carrot Batons & Baby Fine Green Beans and Garden Peas, not forgetting her special ‘ Mashed Potato ‘!

The Mint sauce is made with Malt Vinegar and sugar(essential)  A “ Banquet “ to die for!!

At lunchtime we went up to ' Bar Rojas' for a nice cool drink sat under the ' Sonbrajo' watching the World pass by.

Just a quick update on the football results; sadly Liverpool can’t defend and drew at Watford 3-3, Everton won 1-0 when Rooney scored and Manchester City won 0-2. Today it’s the first leg of the ‘ Spanish Super Cup’ as Real Madrid travel To Barcelona, the second leg is on Wednesday as Barcelona arrive at the ‘ Bernabeu’ Watch this space.

Yesterday afternoon we managed to speak to Tim& Thea on the ‘Skype’ video over in Old Colwyn, North Wales, they are both fine, we had a good catch up with all their news, Jo is home from Madrid at the moment, Ben was down in Cornwall at a rock concert, they are returning on the 23rd September on the Portsmouth to Santander ferry, they are then going across to the same site in Mojacar, above Almeria, this time in their new caravan, we can’t wait to go up and see them later in the year, watch this space.

That's ' Mojacar Pueblo ' behind them in the picture below;

We are taking things easy for the rest of the day, we will watch a little TV later, we still have our ‘ Happy Hour ‘ in the early evening, later we will catch the closing ceremony of the ‘ Worlds Athletic Championships’ from London, sadly yesterday evening Mo Farah could only manage the ‘Silver’ Medal in the 5000 mtrs , then in the 4x100m relay Usian Bolt pulled up injured, then the British men’s sprint team won the ‘Gold’ Medal in a World record time.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
