We managed a little lie in this morning as
we have to be up and ready for ‘ Chico’ to be collected later, he’s a regular
guest here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ and we love having him with us, he’s a very
content dog and gets on with all the other dogs, he slept all night under our
bed on the marble floor, as ‘Prince Paddy’ did! After a quick freshen up we
took them for their first walk of the day, down to the ‘Mirador’ on the shady
side of the street, when we returned we had our usual light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’
fresh fruit, toast & tea.
On Wednesday a new dog is joining us, ‘Comeboy’
for a short 5 day break, he’s met ‘Paddy’ and they got on very well, he’s
another ‘ rescue’ dog, with some problems, on Friday little princess ‘ Reina’ is
back with us, just for the one day this week. Meanwhile ‘Paddy’s’ mum & dad
have moved onto Hawaii for a week’s holiday before returning to Seattle to end their
holiday with their family.
Here in the village today it’s a local ‘
Bank Holiday’ – so it’s even quieter than normal, later down in Puerto de la
Duquesa it’s the ‘ Virgen Del Carmen ‘ Fisherman’s Festival with the procession
starting in Castiilo de la Duquesa, led by the Manilva Brass Band, with the
Tableu carried behind by the Brotherhood, before it goes out on a fishing boat
from the Marina.
On Sunday evening here in the village there
is a “ Flamenco Fashion Show’ – ‘ Pase De Moda Flamenca ‘- taking place on a
stage/walk way in front of the Town Hall in the new ‘ Calle Mar’ Watch this
space.
This morning the ‘ Poineta’ breeze blowing
down from the mountains, behind the village has dropped, the sun broke through
earlier and the sky has cleared, by lunchtime it will be very warm & sunny
, reaching 31 degs+ - the rest of the week and over the weekend is going to get
hotter, at time in the high 30s, next week we are in for more of the same, if
not a little warmer, normal for the time of the year, watch this space.
Speaking of the hot weather, over in
Everett, Ontario, Canada, Sandra & Bill, talking to them yesterday evening
on the ‘ Skype’ video, are still in the middle of a very hot & humid weather
front, they have been very busy, with work and have been babysitting some
friends young children over the weekend, next weekend they are going away with
their trailer up to ‘Lake Huron’ – one of the five ‘ Great Lakes’ to ‘Kincardine’
on the West shore.
On the sports front today; ‘ No sport ‘ !!
This evening for our supper we are having
the rest of the ‘Roasted Knuckle of Ham ‘ with twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ & ‘ Hellman’s
Mayonnaise’ – the rest of the week we are taking one day at the time with the
daily menu’s, on Thursday it’s the ‘ Head Chefs’ & Staff’ night-off, so no
doubt we will be hitting the ‘ High Spots’ of sunny Manilva, watch this space.
I haven’t posted a picture of a steam train
for a while, so here is a ‘Proper One ‘ – the “ Durango & Silverton Narrow
Gauge Railroad “ in the US state of Colorado, 42.5 miles of track, has been
running continuously since 1881, with
steam locomotives !
We will be catching up with all the ‘Quiz
Shows’ that we follow, this afternoon/evening before channel hopping, last
night we caught the next episode of ‘Poldark’ as two pregnancy’s were announced,
the posh lady returned to the good Doctor, Ross & Demelza got ‘ Close’ on the floor, down in London, the nasty George
was foiled in his latest plot, with more trouble to come from the new ‘ Cad’ –
Monk Adderley, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
