A VERY HOT & CLOSE SUNNY MANILVA ON ' FERIA' FRIDAY, AT THE START OF A ' HELLUVA' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 27th/ JULY 2018.

I was up first this morning, despite my alarm not going off, after a very quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, just finding a spot to park, outside ‘Mercadona before they opened, Brenda, after her quick freshen up, then took ‘Prince Paddy’ out for his first walk of the day, down to the ‘Mirador’ – keeping in the shade, as I was walking down ‘ Calle Mar’ the Council’ cleaning department was washing down the street after last night’s start of the ‘ Feria’ weekend!

Yesterday evening we went along to ‘ Bar Castillo’ and found a good table in the shade, by a window, Juan looked after us and gave us our regular drinks in glasses, which we keep out of sight of any police passing! The Parade & Tableau came up from the Church, led by the ‘Manilva Brass Band’ with all the ‘Council Dignitaries & Queens’ following.

See above in all the pictures;

We then came back to the house for supper, the ‘ Beef & Vegetable Stew’ with Picked Red Cabbage went down very well, we then went back out again to watch/listen to the two bands playing on the stages ( alternatively) - one of them at the top of our street, by the side of the Town Hall, we sat on one of the new benches and took in the sights & sounds of sunny Manilva as it partied! ‘Paddy’ loved it, when we came to take him home he wouldn’t move, I ended up carrying him down to the ‘ Plaza de la Vendimia’ where we watched all the children’s rides, we all came home just after 1-00 am, the music finished at 3-00 am! ‘Paddy’ slept all night at the top of stairs in his latest cool spot.

PS; ‘ Lex’ – the ‘Podenco’ puppy is joining us on Sunday for her weeks holiday!

This morning it’s very hot & close, with just a very light breeze, keeping it a little cooler in the shade, by lunchtime it will be 32 degs+ - over the weekend it’s going to get hotter, next week is starting the same, but then it’s due to go a little cooler, even on one forecast showing patchy ‘RAIN’- what’s that?!  Watch this space.

This afternoon we will be watching ‘ Stage 19’ of the “ Tour de France “ – still in the Pyrenees, going from Lourdes to Laruns over 201 kms, with the classic climb over the ‘ Col Du Tourmalet’- the race winner could be decided today, Geraint Thomas is in the race leaders ‘ Yellow Jersey ‘ with his main rival Tom Dumoulin 1 min 59 seconds behind, tomorrow it’s a very hilly Time Trail, which both the riders are specialists at ! Watch this space.

See below the route map;

This evening we will be back out again, after our supper, this time, of ‘Grilled Fillet of Tail-End of Salmon ‘ with Broccoli Florets & Garden Peas, with Parsley New Potatoes, accompanied with a sauceboat of the classic ‘ Hollandaise’ sauce.

PS; In the lunchtime post we had a nice Post Card from Kelvin & Gaye on a short-break holiday in 'Port De Soller ' - Mallorca, for Gaye's birthday - I featured the other day the Railway that is shown on the card!

See below a small selection of pictures from last night taken by the ‘Council’ photographer!

NB; Don’t forget to watch for the “ Blood Moon “ later this evening ! The longest eclipse of the 21st Century !!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
