We had a nice lie in this morning as the
village is very quiet, no church bells yet, ‘Prince Paddy’ slept all night on
his rug, on the floor, then joined us this morning on the bed for his cuddles
etc, he waits while we get ourselves ready, we then went for our first walk of
the day down to the ‘Mirador’ - keeping to the shady side of the street, we had
‘ Chispa’ with us, as she came calling just as we were setting off, she runs
alongside us and I call her in Spanish, they look like little brother and big
sister!
On our early evening walk we bumped into
Brian and his Dad in ‘ Bar Castillo’ – they made a big fuss of the little ‘ Lad’
- we had a nice cool drink with them,
they were just about to watch the second ‘Quarter Final’ between Brazil &
Belgium, by the time we came home Belgium had scored their second goal!
Later
in the evening on our walk with ‘ Paddy’ we bumped into a lot of local ‘English’
friends, with all their children, who all came running up to ‘Pet’ the new ‘
Star’ in Manilva, all except one little girl who is afraid of dogs, she was
won-over by him, with a little encouragement, and was soon ‘ Cuddling’ him!! He
loves all the attention!!
When we came back from our walk this
morning Brenda produced her now famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast’ ( See below) with a
mug of strong Tea, ‘Scrambled’ for her, the gas-bottle delivery man exchanged
our bottle, as we planned our day ahead, a lot of ‘ Sport’ being the main
things on the agenda/menu today!
We will be watching the ‘ Tennis’ from
Wimbledon a little later, at the moment I have the first Stage of the ‘ Tour De
France’ on, its’ started in the ‘ Vendee’ Region from ‘Noirmoutier En L’ile’
(Island) crossing a spectacular bridge, to
finish in Fonteway – Le- Comte, over 201 kms, it’s a very flat Stage with a
sprint finish, watch out for Mark Cavendish attempting to wear the ‘ Yellow
Jersey’ for the first time, as well as his 31st stage win!
At the same time it’s the Final Qualifying
for the ‘British Grand Prix’ over at Silverstone,
We will then settle down to watch the ‘Quarter
Final’ match at the ‘ World Cup Football’ over in Russia as England play
Sweden, then later it’s Russia v Croatia.
We are in for another ‘ hot-one’ today, going
up to 30 degs+ by lunchtime, the sun was out early and the sky is clear and
bright blue, there is a light breeze, so in the shade it’s very pleasant,
tomorrow and the start of next week we are in for more of the same, before the ‘
Sahara Heat Wave’ hits us by Wednesday, when it’s forecast to be going up to 40
degs+ and higher inland! Watch this space.
See below the sailing Regatta approaching Sabinillas this morning from the Sotogrande Marina on ' Sailing Week'
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Grilled Entrecote Steaks’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘Med-Rare’ –
then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms &
Shallots, with Whole ‘ French ‘ Green Beans & of course twice-cooked ‘
Chips’ and not forgetting a sauceboat of the classic ‘Bearnaise’ sauce. Sunday’s
menu is still TBC, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
