A VERY MILD & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 7th/ FEBRUARY 2017.

We were up early this morning and after a very quick freshen up we shot down to Sabinillas, I dropped Brenda off at the main surgery for her blood test and then came back up to the village to our house to welcome ‘Reina’ back with us for the day, I then shot back down and collected Brenda, I popped into the local sub post office in the village and posted a competition entry/questionnaire to win a new car ( Euro Weekly News Neaspaper ) Watch this space!

We then treated ourselves to ‘Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of tea for breakfast before getting the day on the go, Brenda has caught up with the washing so is now pottering about finding something else to do, Ironing, her least favourite chore is on the horizon,  meanwhile I’m back up in the office/studio on the ‘WWW’

As we went down to Sabinillas the sun was already up over the sparkling Mediterranean, it’s another beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’- the sky is bright blue and there are no clouds, there is no breeze so it’s even milder, by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach as high as 20/21degs, over the next two days we are in for more of the same but it could be rather wet on Friday as another ‘ Atlantic ‘ front comes in, it could be around over the weekend making it damp & cloudy, watch this space.

See below the sunset yesterday evening;

As we were coming back up the hill through the vine fields they were burning all the old branches, at this time of the year they prune back all the very old ‘ground’ black vines, the smoke drifts in the light air leaving a strong vine aroma, see the picture below of the vines.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ topped with Fried Eggs, Garden Peas and twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ on the side, ‘HP’ Brown sauce of course! Tomorrow for our ‘ Dish of the Day’ I’m going to make my now famous ‘ Chicken & Mushroom ‘Tarragon’ Casserole’ which we will have with ‘Parsley’ New Potatoes.

Today’s bit of nostalgia goes back to the very early 60s – my first sight & sounds of the Liverpool music scene, the very first club that I ever went to was in West Derby, on the side of Liverpool along from Orrell Park/Aintree. The ‘ Casbah ‘ Coffee Bar was in the basement coal cellar of Pete Best’s Mums house, see the pictures below.

He was the original drummer in the Beatles, he was at the  ‘ Collegiate Grammer School’ two years ahead of me, his mum opened the club and the first ever booking to play there was the ‘ Quarrymen ‘ – with Paul McCarty & John Lennon, see the pictures below of them playing on the first night.

Pete Bests’ mum had bought him his drum kit from ‘Blackler’s’ in Liverpool, the rest is history, he was the first drummer in the ‘ Beatles’ before being sacked and replaced by Ringo Starr! See below;

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the final episode of ‘ Apple Tree Yard’ on BBC TV; the dramatic conclusion saw the central character, played by Emily Watson, found not guilty of her rapist’s murder, her lover was uncovered as a lowly security officer supervising duty logs, his defence was also dismissed, he was not mentally ill at the time, he had in fact a reputation and a record for being violent and a sex pest, he was found guilty of Manslaughter, because it was not premeditated, we later found out in a ‘flash-back’ that she had in fact had asked him to kill the rapist, which would had made it murder, if it had come out in court.! The cross examinations scenes in the court room about her rape and her sexual affair were very harrowing & moving, Catch it if you can!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
