I was up first this morning to welcome back
‘ Reina’ for the day, we then freshened up and had a quick breakfast, Brenda
has shot down to the surgery, without an appointment, to try and arrange a
quick blood test, yesterday afternoon the hospital rang with an appointment,
which we have been waiting for since Xmas, for her to see the ‘Kidney
Consultant’ in two weeks time on the same day as she's due to see the ' Heart Consultant' – which just fits in, half an hour between, one journey less! Watch this space.
RESULT; Our Doctor, Natalia, took Brenda in and arranged for the Blood Test next Tuesday morning, at the same time she gave her a check up and adjusted her prescriptions.

This morning it’s grey & overcast, the
clouds are dark and it looks like the rain is going to hit us at any moment, as
forecast, over the next few days and into next week its now looking very
unsettled, cloudy, windy, damp and a little colder, this week has been very
mild, so far, the overnight temperatures have even been in double figures, normal
for the time of the year.
See the picture below of the beach down in
Sabinillas this morning as the sun came up over the ‘Mediterranean’
This evening for our supper we are having
the rest of the ‘ Cottage Pie ‘ with a fry-up of the leftover vegetables, last
night’s ‘ Dutch Calves Liver ‘ was very tasty, soft & succulent, expensive
but nice! Tomorrow morning I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the
weekly shopping, I will pick up some fresh fish from the excellent ‘ Fish
Market’ in ‘Mercadona’ for our supper, on Saturday we will be having a ‘ Steak
Night’ and then on Sunday it’s going to be my famous ‘ Smoked Chicken &
Three Green Bean Risotto ‘
Just a quick update on the news about the
Pier in Colwyn Bay, the Council are checking the structure and are saying the
demolition people are going to take it down, back to the main building, before another
storm hits it in the next few days.
Yesterday afternoon/evening we channel
hopped, we watched our regular Quiz Shows before catching Michael Portillo on
his ‘Great American Railroad Journeys’ – he was in Colorado Springs –he went on
the highest railway in the World, the famous “ Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway
“ It’s a Abt rack system cog railway, standard gauge, over 14.3kms to the top!
Back now to my Liverpool nostalgia; Today
the pictures below show the ‘ St John’s Beacon ‘ ( now Radio City Tower !) that
I watched being built back in the late 60s when I was the Manager of the ‘
Stork Hotel ‘ in Queens Square, opposite the site, its 452 feet tall and was
opened by the Queen in 1969, I watched as the workmen walked along the ‘T-Crane’
to fix it together, I also went up the tower before it was finished to do the ‘Topping
Out’ ceremony, ‘ Moet Chandon & Canape’s’ for the VIPs & ‘ Watney’s Red
Barrel & Sausage Rolls’ for the workers!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
