A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 15th/ MAY 2017.

We were both up very early this morning, Brenda shot off down to the surgery and our Doctor, Natalia, saw her before she started her other appointments, her swollen hand has been giving her ‘ Jip’ overnight, she has ‘ Arthritis’ and has been prescribed  medication to help, while she was there she gave her a check over, she adjusted one of her tablets and has arranged an appointment for a blood test etc at the start of June.

Meanwhile back at the house I welcomed back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she’s with us for the next 5 days, she was dropped off by Daniela, Lee is in Guernsey for the week, at the companies head office, we then went back to bed for a little lie in before Brenda returned. I then treated us to my delicious ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ – open for Brenda, smothered in ‘ HP ‘ Sauce, with mugs of hot tea.

This morning our regular ‘ Pensions’ transfers into our ‘Spanish’ Bank Account started, the first one was up a little on last month, as the ‘Euro’ is also up, a bit! Fingers crossed for next couple of weeks, watch this space.

As Brenda set off the sun was already braking through, the sky was clear & blue, it’s warm & sunny, there is no breeze, the rest of the week and over the weekend into next week we are in for more of the same, getting hotter by the day, into the high 20 s by Thursday, watch this space.

See below a old picture of the ‘ New Brighton Tower ‘ that was 567 feet high, it was demolished in 1919. NB; ‘ Blackpool Tower ‘ is only 518 feet!

At lunchtime we went up to 'Bar Castillo' for a cool drink and some light Tapas, sat in the sunshine as Manilva life passed us by, our friend Andy came along with some other friends and joined us for a gossip & chat, Juan & his wife Paqui, from ' Bar Castillo' had ' liked' the Facebook picture and asked about the hotel picture below so I went and got the Hotel Brochure to show them.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Steak & Chips ‘ – I managed to get two steaks slices from the Entrecote Steaks, grilled on a hot griddle plate, ‘ Med-Rare ‘ & garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, finally sliced Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ The rest of the weeks menus are TBC at the moment, watch this space.

Talking of Towers, see below some pictures of the St John’s Tower in Liverpool ( 452 feet high!) when it  was a revolving restaurant back in the 1970 s, we were one of the first customers, I had our waiters jackets at the ‘ Hotel Seventy Degrees’ in Colwyn Bay made in a similar style, double breasted but in Brown, as you can see in the picture below of the Restaurant team, with Kelvin, our Assistant Manager, six Portuguese  waiters and the ladies!

Happy Days & Happy Memories.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Liverpool won 0-4 and relegated Hull, Barcelona won 1-4 & Real Madrid won 4-1, also in the Madrid Open Tennis ‘ Rafa’ Nadal won.

Last night after supper we watched on BBC I TV the ‘British Academy Television Awards - BAFTA ‘ from the Royal Festival Hall in London, Sarah Lancashire won ‘ Leading Actress ‘  for her part in‘ Happy Valley ‘ and in the ‘ Drama Series ‘ category  ‘ Happy Valley’ also won. Joanna Lumley won the ‘BAFTA Fellowship’ Award.
