A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 22nd/ MAY 2017.

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, as usual she shot onto her duvet, she’s with us for the next five days, as normal, ‘ Chispa ‘ has been in & out all over the weekend, no doubt she will come crashing in later.

I then freshened up before going down to the surgery for my appointment with the nurse for blood tests etc, it’s my half-yearly check up, I made an appointment to see our Doctor, Natalia, next Tuesday morning for the results.

On the way back I called into the local bank to pay the ‘ Electricity & Water Bills ‘ - the water bill is for three months and the electricity is monthly, the water is, surprisingly, cheap and the electricity has gone down as we now cook on Gas! ( except the Oven!)

Brenda has just popped along to the Chemists in Calle Mar, the ‘Council Water Wagon ‘ washed down the street early this morning, she was collecting her prescription tablets, she then carried on down to the Butchers for this evenings supper, ‘ Escalope’s of Chicken Breast ‘

While I’ve been typing the Blog one of our monthly Pensions has arrived in our Spanish Bank Account, it’s down, a little, on last months, as the ‘ Euro’ has dropped at the end of last week. Watch this space.

The sun was out early this morning and the sky has cleared, there is no breeze so by lunchtime it will be hot, in the high 20s, the rest of the week is going to be the same, the weekend also, the overnight temperature are also creeping up, watch this space.

See below a picture, taken this morning, of the “ Salthouse Dock “ in Liverpool.

And the beachfront down in Sabinillas at lunchtime.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Posh – Chicken & Chips ‘ – ‘ Escalope’s of Chicken Breast ‘ pan-seared in foaming Lime Butter, garnished with Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, with my famous ‘Pont- Neuf ‘ Chips ( Door Steps!) – the name comes from  Paris’s ‘ Pont Neuf – New Bridge ‘ – in fact the city’s oldest one, where, it’s said, Pommes Frits ( A.K.A. - the granddaddy of French Fries ) used to be sold in the now closed ‘ Chez Clovis’!

After our weekly ‘Menu Meeting’ we are having ‘ Calves Liver’ with all the trimmings on Tuesday, I’m making my famous ‘ Chicken, Mushroom & Bacon Tarragon Pie ‘ – Thursday is left-over’s day and on Friday it will be fresh fish from the market, Saturday is ‘ Steak Night’ and then on Sunday we are having ‘ Grilled Barnsley Lamb Chops’ on ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes. Watch this space.

Just a quick update on the football results; Manchester City won 0-5 and ended up 3rd, Liverpool won 3-0 and are 4th in the 'Premiere League' - both play in the Champions League next season; over here the village went mad as Real Madrid beat Malaga 0-2 and won the ' La Liga' for the first time since 2012!

Last night we settled down and watched the first of two final cases of ‘Inspector George Gently ‘ with Martin Shaw in the main role, we have not seen the series before, it’s based in Newcastle, as the old-fashioned  ex ‘ Scotland Yard’ Detective chases the ‘ Baddies’

We then found on BBC TV 2 a movie to watch “ The Homesman “ from 2014 – co- written, co-produced, directed and starring Tommy Lee Jones, it’s historical period drama set in the 1850s Midwest, the title refers to the taking of immigrants back home, in this case three mad women, typically a man’s job, but in this case Hilary Swank, is tasked with the job, with Tommy Lee Jones help, John Lithgow & James Spender appear and at the very end a short cameo appearance by Meryl Streep, there is a surprise near the end, watch it to find out what happens!

                                                                          " Happy Birthday " Andrew.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
