A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 20th/ MAY 2017.

I was up early and after a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, meanwhile Brenda saw ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, my first port of call was our Bank, I was first in the queue, as it opened at 8-30 am, I have arranged a new Savings Account, I have to go back next week at the same time to finalize the details and the transfer.

I then did the main shop in ‘ Mercadona’ before calling into the ‘English Bookshop’ for the local English newspapers and a birthday card, we still like to send cards to all our family & friends (Christmas, Anniversaries etc ) I then dropped down into ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ to drop off my playlist at the ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2’ studio, I then came back thought ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ and called into the ‘ English Butchers’ – ‘ Barnsley ‘( Double) Lamb Chops & Kidneys, Smoked  Back Bacon & Pork Sausages, sliced York Ham, for sandwiches, etc, to stock up the deep-freeze for another day!

Finally I went along the promenade, in Sabinillas, to the local market at the far end for the fresh flowers & wall plants, It was then time to shoot back up the hill thought the vine fields, they are growing all the time, the Council has started the test drilling, along the side of the road, as the new major project of the  “ Cycle/Pedestrian Path “ is starting to take shape, watch this space.

Speaking of Cycling, see the picture below of the opening of the ‘ Queensway Tunnel ‘ in Liverpool back in 1934, my Dad, Tommy Sexton, is somewhere in the bottom of the picture on his bike, he was the very first cyclist to ride through the tunnel and the last as it was only for cars etc! He was a ‘ Life ‘ long member of the ‘ Mersey Roads Club’

Once again we have a perfect day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early and the sky is bright blue, it’s warming up with a light breeze making it very pleasant, the weekend is looking warm & sunny and the forecast for all of next week is for more of the same, hovering in the mid/high 20 s, watch this space.

                                                                                              The clouds have cleared!

For our supper this evening we are having, ‘ Deep-Fried Fillets of Hake in local Breadcrumbs’ with Mushy Peas & twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ -Homemade ‘Tartar’ sauce and lots of Lemon Wedges on the side; On Saturday it’s going to be ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ with all the trimmings, we are then out for our ‘Sunday Roast Lunch’ at the ‘ Restaurante Arroyo Honda ‘ – which we are looking forward to!

Last night we watched the final episode (3) of ‘Three Girls’ on BBC TV, the harrowing true story of the  ‘ Rochdale Child Grooming & Rape ‘ by nine Muslim men, the ‘Sexual Health Worker’ who tried for years to expose them and the lady Detective, who also referred the cases to her superiors, both with no luck, in the end, years later, the case was brought to court and the men were convicted –  the Social Worker was made redundant and the Detective made to resign, no Police officers were prosecuted for the failings over the years and no enquire was held into the ‘Social Services’ department, the ‘ Establishment ‘ cover up – of all cover ups!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
