A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 2nd/ SEPTEMBER 2014.

I was up before the sunrise this morning as we had a thick sea mist, which is not unusual at this time of the year, the street lights were still on also! ‘Reina’ arrived for the day and I then grabbed a quick breakfast and shot down to the underground car park to collect the car and pick Josie up to take her across to the Bus Station over in Marbella. See the picture below.

She is flying to Newcastle from Malaga and then she has only a bus ride ( free!) home to Skelton; we are going to miss them both and are already looking forward to seeing them again early next year?! Safe journey, we look forward to receiving some postcards from your travels!! PS; Thanks for the ‘Goodies!’

On the way back I called into the English butchers in Duquesa and came out with a bag full of goodies; Calves Liver for tonight’s supper, Gammon Steaks for Wednesday’s supper, Homemade Farmhouse Sausages and Smoked Bacon Rashers, a freshly made Beef & Potato Pie and a jar of Goose Fat for the ‘Christmas’ Roast Potatoes!

The sun has now broken through and it’s now very hot and sunny, last night it was ‘Sticky’ to say the least and the forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the week and over the ‘Vendimia Festival’ weekend. I’ve just come back from paying the water bill in the local bank in Calle Mar, they had the air conditioning on which made it very pleasant as I sat and waited; the other day in ‘Mercadona’ they also had it on for the first time this year, I congratulated the manager and he said that he’s allowed to put it on when it reaches a certain temperature!!

So we are back into our reading in the afternoons so this week we will exchange the old books and find some new ones to read, at the moment its Lee Childs & Dan Browne.

This afternoon its stage 10 of the ‘Vuelta’ after the rest day yesterday it is going from ‘Real Monastero De Santa Maria De Veruela’! to ‘Borja’ See the route map below, I'ts a Time Trial..

This evenings supper is the ‘Calves Liver’ lightly dusted in seasoned flour and quickly seared on the griddle ‘Pink’ with a Farmhouse Sausage and a rasher of Smoked Bacon, sautéed Onion rings, fresh Cabbage with Alselgas & dry-sautéed thick-cut baked potatoes, oh and yes on the side a sauceboat of ‘Charcutiere’ sauce!

Last night after catching up with all the news, sport and weather details we found a film to watch; “ Eraser ”from 1996 with Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Caan & Vanessa L Williams – ‘Arnie’ saved the world again,oops I given the plot away! The late,late film was “ The Patriot” from 2000 with Mel Gibson,the late Heath Ledger,Chris Cooper,Jason Isaacs,Tom Williams and Joely Richardson – get the hankies ready!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
