A STILL VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 4th/ SEPTEMBER 2014.

Well little princess ‘Reina’ arrived this morning as usual, she has a little nap after she has settled in and then joins us for breakfast; she is a very ‘Faddy’ eater and is on a special diet at the moment, she also does not drink a lot of water so we watch and monitor everything and we go for our regular short walks along Call Mar stopping at the same spots!

This morning just as we were leaving ‘Chispa’ came running up so we took her for a walk with us, at the moment they are both at my feet in the office playing around; it is already very hot and the forecast for the weekend is more of the same with a possible little breeze, it makes it bearable and helps at night also.

At the moment its all hands to the deck as the council workmen rush to get things read for the festival; they are putting up decorations, erecting the two stages and they have just washed down the street and pavements, the stallholders have started to arrive and all the bars are setting up their temporary bars ready for the weekend ahead. Yesterday all the trees along Calle Mar were trimmed ‘Pollard’ style!

So today we are taking things very easy as we get ourselves ready for the festivities ahead, we have sorted out the menus for the weekend, on Friday evening is fish as usual before we go out to the ‘Flamenco Concert’ then on Saturday morning I’m making a large pan of my now famous ‘Chicken Curry’ and we will have a late ‘Brunch’ to set us up for the evening ahead, then on Sunday morning we will have a light breakfast before getting ready to hit the streets for the afternoon ‘Bash’ Curry for supper after the grape crushing has finished!

Tonight we are having for supper ‘Chicken Wings cooked on the griddle with a mixed salad on the side and a Baked Potato. Simple but very tasty!

This afternoon the ‘Vuelta’ is a ‘Circuit’ race around the town of ‘Lograno’ in the heart of the “ Rioja ” region

We are going down to Sabinillas in the morning for the shopping and the usual calls, first I need to call into the surgery to make an appointment as I’m due back at the hospital at the beginning of October for my six month ‘Prostrate’ check up! When we get back ‘Scruffy’ is due at lunchtime for the rest of the day.

Last night after our supper we found a rather good film to watch, with no shooting, stabbing, fighting.car chases, bad language etc.  “The Notebook”from 2004 with an early appearance of Ryan Gosling in the award winning romantic drama with Rachel McAdams,Gena Rowland and James Garner as the ‘Narrator’ – you need the hankies ready and watch it right up to the end!

PS; David & Jane are at the moment on holiday touring around France and have just reached 'La Rochelle' - one of our stop-overs on the way down here over 8 years ago - we stayed at a hotel on the front and fell in love with the town and region!
