A VERY COLD & ' CRISP' SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 27th/ JANUARY 2017.

We had a nice long lie in this morning, all of us, as ‘ Charlie’ was very happy to wait to go out for his first walk of the day, he was dropped off yesterday afternoon by Brian, he’s a real character, so gentle & loving, he eats everything, walks slowly, is really good company, he sleeps wherever he wants to, he moves from the floor and back onto the mat, his injury on his back, from when he was attacked on New Year’s Eve by a nasty Alsatian, when Brian was walking him, is clearing up, we love having him with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – he’s due to be collected later tomorrow afternoon, no doubt ‘ Chispa’ will call in later as she’s now back in her house at the bottom of our street. Little Princess ‘ Reina’ is due back with us on Monday for four days, as usual.

For our breakfast this morning Brenda treated me to her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, with a mug of steaming tea, she prefers a Boiled Egg with Brown Toast fingers! She is now washing/shampooing her hair and I’ve shot up to the office/studio to check out the ‘WWW’ and then type/post the Blog, as you can see!

The sky has cleared this morning, as there is stiff breeze blowing in from off the Mediterranean, it’s very cold, down to 7 degs overnight, later today it’s going to only reach 14 degs+!  The sun is attempting to break through, as forecast, it's now a beautiful day with a blue sky with the sun out, tomorrow it’s going to be even colder and some of the wet stuff is forecast to hit us, the start of next week is looking the same before it picks up on Thursday and over next weekend, but still only hovering on the 15/16 degs mark, cold for the time of the year, watch this space.

See below the sunrise over the Liverpool waterfront this morning.

Next week we are going across to the ‘ Costa Del Sol  Hospital’ past Marbella on Tuesday morning as Brenda has an appointment with the ‘ Kidney’ consultant for her six month review/check up, on Friday I will be back out on my travels, down in Sabinillas, for the weekly shopping.

Over this weekend we are making contact with our dear friends Tim & Thea up in Mojacar, for a catch up, as on Tuesday its’ Thea’s 60th birthday, watch this space.

PS; They are staying at the ' Lorca Parador ' this evening in a grand suite, we are going to talk to them on Sunday afternoon.

See below a picture taken this morning of the old pier in Colwyn Bay just before the demolition contractor’s move in next week, the ‘Council’ say that it’s being dismantled, not ‘knocked’ down, watch this space!

For our supper this evening we are having another old classic, my version of  ‘ Tournedos Rossini ‘ – Fillet Steaks wrapped in Smoked Bacon, seared on a very hot griddle-plate and baked in the oven – ‘ Med-Rare’ – served on a large ‘ Crute’ & topped with a Quenelle of ‘Iberico’ Pate, accompanied with a Rich Red Wine glaze and Whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and twice-cooked- ‘ hand-cut’ ‘ Stringfellows’

On Sunday it’s going to be ‘ Roast Leg of New Zealand, South Island, Lamb’ studded with Garlic & Rosemary, resting on a bed of my famous ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes with finger-licking Pan Gravy and a large selection of fresh local Vegetables from the ‘ Second/Vegetable Chef’!

On the sports front this weekend; over here in ‘ La Liga’ Real Madrid travel across to play Valencia and Barcelona welcome Alaves, over in the UK it’s the Fourth Round of the ‘ FA Cup’ as Liverpool welcome West Brom and Manchester City travel down to Cardiff, this afternoon we will be watching the ‘ National Hunt Racing’ from the ‘home’ of the sport Cheltenham, we will also catch the ladies ‘Australian Tennis Final’ later.

Over in Australia on the ‘ Australia Day’ weekend the folks are in for another very hot weekend as the forecast is for a ‘ Deadly Heatwave ‘ to hit them! Take care, will be check on Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne on the ‘ Skype’ video later.

We are also due to make contact with Sandra & Bill in Everett, Ontario, Canada to check on their weather and catch up with all their news, speaking of Canada, on yesterdays episode of ‘ Great Railroad Journeys of America’ with Michael Portillo, he reached ‘Mount Washington’ and went on the ‘Cog Railway’ – the World’s first mountain-climbing cog railway, it’s the second steepest rack railway ( Pilatus in Switzerland 1st!) – and goes up 3 miles, as you can see in the pictures below, next week in the programmes he travels into Canada and ends up in Toronto on top of the ‘CN’ Tower!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
