A COLD, DAMP AND NOT SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 28th/ JANUARY 2018.

We managed a little lie in this morning, ‘ Charlie’ slept on the mat besides the bed all night before coming on the bed for the last hour, after a quick freshen up Brenda shot out with him for his first walk of the day before the rain arrived, he’s being collected later this afternoon, as usual we will miss him, he’s such good company and we love having him with us.

When she returned Brenda shot upstairs to the roof terrace/patio to bring in the washing on the line, just in time, as the rain started as the sky went black, we then had a quick toast & tea before getting today’s ‘Roast’ on the go.

We are having a ‘ Leg of New Zealand, South Island, Lamb ‘ – studded with Garlic & Rosemary, I’ve just made my famous ‘ finger-licking’ Pan Gravy, the ‘ Second/Vegetable Chef’ has excelled herself, with Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in Cheese sauce, Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Creamed Leeks and Baby ‘Fresh/Local’ Sprouts and Garden Peas! I also made a large dish of my famous ‘ Boulangere Potatoes ‘ – layers of ‘ hand-cut’ sliced/seasoned Onions & Potatoes in a rich Meat & Vegetables Stock – which goes in the oven this evening, the ‘ Roast’ is finished on top of the dish, I also roasted some small potatoes in the roasting tray juices! All served with a special ‘ Sweet Mint Sauce ‘ !!

This morning started dark & overcast with a black sky as the rain hit us, for a while, it then cleared and at the moment the sky is bright blue and the sun is out! It’s still very cold, by our standards, only reaching 12/13 degs by this afternoon, with more rain to come, the start of the week is the same before it picks up on Thursday, with the sunshine back and the overall temperature hovering on the 16/17 deg+ mark, over next weekend, watch this space.

See below a ‘ Drone’ picture of ‘ Puerto De La Duquesa’ taken over the weekend.

This afternoon we are making contact with Tim & Thea up in Mojacar on the ‘ Skype’ video, for a catch up/chat and to find out what is happening for the rest of Thea’s 60th birthday celebrations, it’s actually on Tuesday, they have spent the weekend visiting the city of Lorca, which was hit by a earthquake in 2011, they stayed at the ‘ Parador ‘ above the town, ‘Parador’s’ are a kind of luxury hotel, usually located in a converted historic building, such a castle or monastery, which are maintained by the state/government.

See below the “ Lorca Parador “ which is modern building on the site of the old Castle above the town.

Last night after supper we watched the next two back to back episodes if the excellent French Police drama series ( with sub-titles!) “ Spiral 6 “ as the plot thickens, the Lady lawyers case collapsed as the ‘ ‘establishment’ closed ranks, the corrupt cops played clever, the ‘ Baddies’ got nastier and the local cops are in a mess, it all happens on the streets of Paris, next week is the final two-parts of the series, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See below.
