We managed a little lie in this morning
before taking the dogs out for their first walk of the day, ‘ Charlie’ slept in
‘Scruffs’ bed, by the side of ours, and ‘Scruffy’ ended up across the foot of
the bed, in his favourite position, they both slept all night, ‘ Scruffy’ has
been very good and dosn’t mind ‘ Charlie’ taking over his bed!
When we returned from our walk around the
bottom of the village we had a strong/hot mugs of tea with ‘ Crispy Smoked
Bacon Butties’ – open on Brown for Brenda, to warm us up as it was rather cold
this morning! Both the dogs are eating very well and have settled into the
routine.
PS; ' Scruffy' could be collected later today as Rose is being let home from the ' Costa Del Sol Hospital' this afternoon, watch this space.
Overnight a stiff breeze had come along
making is rather ‘ crisp’ this morning, the sky has cleared and by lunchtime it’s
still going to reach 21 degs+ - yesterday it was very hot in the sunshine, tomorrow
is the same with more sunshine, then next week’s forecast is looking dry &
sunny, getting a little warmer, then by next weekend it’s going a little
cooler, watch this space.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘
Grilled Fillet Steaks’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left
to rest, garnished with Seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms,
accompanied with a sauceboat of a creamy ‘ Green Peppercorn ‘ sauce, with Whole
Baby French Green Beans & twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ Tomorrow night we are
having, for a change, ‘ Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ served with a
piquant ‘ Charcutiere’ salsa, a selection of fresh vegetables & ‘ Pommes de
Terre Rissolees ‘!
Yesterday evening before supper we watched
the final episode of ‘ Great British Railway Journeys’ with Michael Portillo,
as he travelled from Criccieth to Caernarfon in North Wales, bringing back a
lot of memories from our early days in the heart of Snowdonia, he visited the ‘
Pen Y Gwryd Hotel’ – at the foot of Mount Snowdon, the first Hotel where we managed,
back in 1971, it’s where the successful attempt on climbing Mount Everest was
planned, it’s the home of ‘ British Mountaineering’ – it was our first Xmas
working together, on Christmas Day all the guests go out climbing up ‘ Lockwood’s
Chimney’ - by tradition – at 8-00 pm the dinner ‘ gong’ is rung, an art in its
self, and they eat ‘ Roast Goose ‘ – an acquired taste!
He then travelled on the famous
narrow-gauge ‘ Ffestiniog Light Railway ‘ and visited the home of David Lloyd
George in Llannystumdwy, near Criccieth, the great British Prime Minister, we once
needed a Solicitor, back in 1972 and ended up in Porthmadog seeing ‘ David Lloyd
George’ his grandson!
Finally he went on the ‘ Welsh Highland
Railway’ – another newly opened narrow-gauge- which passes through Beddgelert, where
we were the Managers of the famous ‘ Royal Goat Hotel’ – our second job back in
1972, he went to “ Zip World “ above the Llechedd Slate Caverns in Blarnau
Ffestiniog, the World’s fastest zip wire
ride (100 mph) and the longest in Europe, all our friends in North Wales have
been on it!
PS;
A ‘ Zip Wire’ has just opened in the white village of Casares’ above sunny
Manilva, watch this space!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
