A OVERCAST & COLD START TO THE WEEKEND IN SUNNY MANILVA:

FRIDAY 5th/ JANUARY 2018.

I was up early again this morning and after seeing little princess ‘Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s back next week for three days from Wednesday, I shot out to catch the local bus down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, the sky was beautiful, as the full red sun came up above the Mediterranean, I collected the local English newspapers from the ‘English Bookshop’ as well as a special birthday card and a large yearly wall chart, for the kitchen wall.

I then went along to ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop before catching a taxi back up to the house, after un-packing Brenda made a very nice ‘ Smoked Back Bacon Butty’ with a mug of strong/steaming tea! We are waiting to hear about the car, hopefully by lunchtime, before we go out to James & Michala’s wedding reception at ‘Bar Pedreta’ this afternoon.

We are going to watch the start of the ‘ Three Kings’ parade this evening in front of the Wine Museum before it heads off round the village.

Overnight the stiff breeze that built up yesterday afternoon dropped and by this morning it was cool but dry as I set off on my travels, the sky is overcast and its staying like this over the weekend and into next week, hovering on the 19/20 degs mark today but dropping down to 12/13 degs over the weekend, the wet stuff from the ‘Atlantic’ front is also threatening to hit us on Saturday and the start of next week, hopefully keeping dry on Sunday, when we are going out for ‘ Sunday Lunch ‘ at ‘Kokomo ‘ with our dear friend Joyce ( Baby)

See below a picture taken this morning of one of the docks in Liverpool.

Meanwhile over in Canada, Sandra & Bill have deep snow and very cold weather, when we spoke to them on ‘New Year’s Day’ over in Everett, Ontario, it was – 20 degs! They are only an hour away from ‘Niagara Falls’ which is freezing over at the moment, the severe weather front that is hitting New York and the area will also hit them, as they are only a ten hour drive away!

See below a picture taken yesterday of Sandra out in her snow shoes,  be prepared is her ‘Motto’!

This evening for our supper, later, we are having ‘ Pan-Seared Fillets of Hake’ – duster in seasoned flour and finished with a foaming Lime Butter reduction, with Garden Peas & Baby Parsley New Potatoes on the side, no forgetting the Homemade Tartar sauce. On Saturday evening it’s going to be ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks’ with all the trimmings!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
