I was first this morning to see little
princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she shot upstairs into her duvet,
she’s back next from Monday for four days, ‘ Scruffy ‘ spent the night in his
bed, by the side of ours, he’s being collected this morning after Rose comes
back from the Hospital, ‘ Charlie’ as usual was fast asleep on a settee all
night, he’s due to be collected at lunchtime by his owner Zane, who is flying
back from the UK, we now have the other ‘Charlie’ – the ‘ Water Dog’ – coming for
a short weekend break on Friday afternoon this week, he’s being picked up
sometime on Sunday, so we are not ‘ doggy-free’ this weekend!
After a quick freshen up we took the two
dogs, ‘Charlie & Scruffy’ out for their first walk of the day, around the
bottom of the village, when we returned we had our usual light breakfast of ‘
Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, I then made the evenings supper, before coming up to the office/studio to type/post
the Blog, Brenda is catching up with the chores around the house.
This morning, it’s as forecast, a little
cooler as there is a light breeze blowing in, the sky is clearing but there are
still some clouds left, the sun has just broken through and by lunchtime it
will be hovering on the 17/18 degs mark, tomorrow is the same, then on Friday
the sun is back but it’s will still be a little cooler, over the weekend it’s
staying the same and next week is looking dry & settled to start but there
is the threat of some of the wet stuff later on in the week, watch this space.
For our supper this evening we are having ‘Braised
Steak in a Mushroom & Onion Casserole’ – I first dust the sliced ‘Entrecote
Steak’ in seasoned flour and brown it off, I then sautéed the sliced Onions and
layered it in the casserole dish, I then made the savoury sauce with diced
Shallots & Garlic, diced Carrots, Turnips, Celery, Leeks & Button
Mushrooms, all sweated off in Red Wine and the secret ingredients with some
Tomato ‘Frito’ – before adding the rich/strong ‘Beef & Vegetable’ Stock,
after adjusting the seasoning, consistency and taste, its then added to the
casserole dish and will go on the over this evening to finish cooking.
Brenda has made her famous ‘ Mashed Potato’
to go in the oven this evening also, along with whole Baby ‘French’ Green Beans
& Glazed Baby Carrots. The ‘ aromas’ are wafting upstairs as I’m on the ‘
WWW’!
Last night we watched the second
part/episode of the excellent ‘ Silent Witness ‘ over on BBC TV 1 – I won’t
give the ending away, only to say that it’s very gripping and has a twist! This
evening we will settle down to catch the next episode of the harrowing ‘ Kiri ‘
– with the very watchable Sarah Lancashire, at her best, I think I’ve guessed
who kidnapped and then murdered the young girl, so we will have to wait to see
the ending next week, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
