A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 3rd / MAY 2016.

I was up first this morning to see ‘Reina’ back with us for the day, I then left Brenda in bed and shot out down to ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ to the main studio of ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ to set up this weeks show, on the way back I called into our local garage so that Pedro could give the car the once over, he’s going to check the fan belt and do a small general service.

We have another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun is hot and the skies are clear, there is a little breeze that makes it rather pleasant, tomorrow its more of the same but then on Thursday there is an Atlantic storm hitting us bringing with it some of the wet stuff and getting a little cooler, hopefully the weekend will settle down, watch this space. See the picture below of the Albert Dock, in Liverpool, taken this morning with the ‘House Boats’ moored along the quay.

I had a quick cup of tea and some toast when I got back to the house and then went along to the local ‘Tabacs’ in Calle Mar to top up our ‘Pay As You Go’ mobile phones, I then called into the butchers and on the way back I dropped into our local shop for some fresh vegetables etc. Its a good drying day so the washing has just gone on! The picture below shows the first grapes on the vines of the ' Moscatel de Manilva'

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare - Pink’ and then cut into slices ‘ French’ style and served with whole Green Beans & ‘ FrIts’ accompanied  with a ‘Bearnaise’ sauce. Tomorrow ‘I’m making my famous ‘ Chicken Curry’ – on Thursday its find something in the fridge  time and then on Friday our Swedish friend Lillimor is joining us for my special ‘ Seafood Risotto’

Staying on food, over the weekend we watched Rick Stein’s ‘Long Weekend’- this week he went to Iceland and stayed in Reykjavik; the scenery is spectacular but the food was not! Cod, Cod & more Cod!! He did find a little ‘Lamb’ roasted in wild Berries but then tried the ‘ Skate Wing seared in ‘Rancid’ Lambs Fat – Skate is a very difi’icult fish to cook and keep fresh, the outcome was it tasted of a very strong ‘Ammonia’ flavour?! An acquired taste! He then was ‘ treated’ to some very expensive marinated ‘ Stinky Shark’ from a sealed jar, it was the worst fish that he had ever tried and took a quick shot of the local’ Firewater’ to wash it down!

This week on BBC 1 its the final of ‘ Master Chef ‘ – last night they had to prepare and cook a five course meal created by the new trailblazing chef ‘ Michael O’Hare’ from “ The Man Behind the Curtain “ ( from The Wizard of Oz! ) in Leeds with one ‘ Michelin’ Star!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
