A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 10Th/ JUNE 2020.     “ STATE OF ALARM –DAY 88 “

No rest for the wicked this morning, we were up and freshened up, as there is lots to do later, after our regular light breakfast of fresh fruit ( sliced Banana) toast & tea, it was time to get things on the go, I shot up to the office/studio to type/post today’s Blog and the ‘ Second Chef’ was busy in the kitchen!

We did listen to the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ –the ‘ Mystery Voice’ quiz this morning was easy, it was ‘ Bjork’ Gudmundsdottir ! – the lady singer from Iceland – not a lot of people know her surname – they do now!!

The ‘ Second Chef’ is on duty this morning in the main kitchen preparing all the ingredients for the ‘ Ensaladilla Rusa – Russian Salad ‘ – Boiled local Potatoes ( Diced) Boiled ‘ Campo’ Eggs ( Crushed) Baby Carrots ( Diced ) Garden Peas, Red Pimento ( Tinned/Chopped) and Tuna ( Tinned/ Crushed) – all seasoned and bound together with Chopped Parsley & Mayonnaise – then into the fridge!

At the same time she is ‘ Poaching’ the Chicken Breasts in a ‘Court Bouillon’ – Water, Salt, White Pepper, Carrot & Onion, Cloves & a little Chicken stock – then left to cool – this evening they are sliced and served with the ‘Russian Salad’ & Small Toasted Mini-Biscuits ( Pack ) and garnished with a Mixed Salad.

Yesterday lunchtime I booked a table for Brenda’s birthday, we are going out for lunch on Sunday 21st June as Brenda requested, her birthday is actually on the Monday the 22nd – when most of our favourite restaurants are closed on Mondays!

For a change we are not going out for a ‘ Sunday Roast ‘ – I have booked a table on the roof terrace of the best seafood  restaurant - “ Restaurante Delfines “ – in ‘ Castillo de la Doquesa ‘ – our first visit – hopefully it will go into our ‘ Top Five’ list! Watch this space.

The sun was out first thing this morning, the breeze has dropped overnight, so the clouds have slowly cleared and the sky is now bright blue, by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 27/28 degs+ - overnight down to 16/17 degs+ - then over the next two days going a little cooler as the breeze picks up again, with even the threat of the ‘ Wet- Stuff’ on one forecast! Over the weekend will be back to normal, hovering in the mid ‘Teens’ with lots of warm sunshine, next week is going to be a lot warmer, going hotter each day, with just a few clouds at times, reaching by next weekend 29/30 degs+ - watch this space.

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

The Spanish Cabinet yesterday approved a decree for the ‘ New Normality’ after the ‘ State of Alarm’ ends on the 21st June, the new rules, which will be in place until the government considers that the crisis is over, include the obligatory use of face masks in closed spaces, where a 1.5 meter distance, cannot be observed, as well as possibly in open spaces and prevention measures in the workplace, as well as lots of technical details, all under the jurisdiction of the  ‘Junta de Andalucia’ regional government in Seville! The ‘ Manilva Council’ have approved the  re-start of the road works in ‘ Calle Dr.Alvarez Leiva’ – the main road into the village, starting at the roundabout at the entrance and ending at the junction with ‘ Calle Mar’ The ‘ Contractors’ are back, working on the new drains and services on either side of the street, then replacing the pavements & kerbs, before they dig-up the street and relay it, after installing more drains etc, all this is in front of the ‘Fire Station, the Police Station, The Wine Centre & Theatre, the Council Chambers, the Manilva TV studios and various Council offices, not forgetting the ‘ Suma Supermarket’!  The local Bus service has been re-routed around the main bypass, so the bus stop is now at the roundabout, down to Sabinillas!

Yesterday evening on our regular walk we again bumped into Mano & Anna, sat outside ‘ Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ on the shady side of the street, having a beer & coffee, they asked us to join them for a drink, as we had a long catch-up with all their news and local gossip from around the village, a nice ‘ surprise’ before our supper.
