A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 20th/ JUNE 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 98 “

Well we needed a little lie in this morning as we were rather late getting to bed, more later, after freshening up as Brenda was on the breakfast rota, as usual on a Saturday morning, I had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for herself on brown, with mugs of hot/strong Tea, to get us up and going, we had a little guest with us - ‘Chispa’ who joined us for her breakfast, she ‘s in & out all the time, last night she wanted to come out with us, Brenda had to send her home!

We went along to ‘Marlows’ – on the coast road going out of Sabinillas, where Debbie, the owners wife greeted us, luckily they had the ceiling fans on, as it was still very hot, we had a nice Table and ordered our ‘ Fish N’ Chip’ supper, we both had the ‘Haddock’ – ‘ Med’ for Brenda & ‘ Jumbo’ for me, with ‘Chips & Mushy Peas’ on the side, the fish was excellent, succulent and perfectly cooked in the crispy Batter!

It was then time to drop down to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ on a very hot evening, with just a very slight breeze, as usual the fishing village is very tranquil, we had very large drinks at the ‘ locals’ ‘Bar & Resturante AnKa Juanito’ – a specialist ‘Freiduria’- on the front by the sea wall, excellent Gin & Tonic and Bacardi & Coke, as we took in the sights and sounds as the sun went down, with a ‘Red’ sky sunset.

We took the chance to check out ‘ Resturante Delfines ‘ which is just around the corner, while we were in the village, sadly we were not impressed, it was little dark & bare, no business and not what we were expecting, even not in the position that we thought it was, so we decided to cancel or booking today, after finishing our drinks we came back along the coast road and went along the Promenade in Sabinillas and called at ‘ Chiringuito Ramos’ where we took the family ( 8) from Canada when they arrived last year, Brenda then booked a table for Sunday lunch! Finally we came back up to the village and I dropped Brenda off outside ‘ Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ where Brian & Andy were sat having a few drinks and pizza, we joined them for a drink, which turned into a late session, in the balmy night air, Brenda ended with a large ‘Terry Brandy’ as we came back down to the house at 1-30am – a ‘ Helluva’ night to start the weekends celebrations!

Yesterday afternoon we had a nice call from Leah & Deemy  in Gibraltar enjoying the spa/pool garden, private complex at the apartment, we had a good catch up with all her news, she is still waiting to get all her documents for residency.

At lunchtime as we were going up to ‘Bar Castillo’ the local post lady from the Sub-Post-Office, stopped us and gave us all the cards that she was about to deliver, they have all arrived, from the UK & Canada,  except sadly Lyn’s from Australia ( maybe Monday!)  “ Thanks “

This morning it’s a little cooler as there is a light breeze, which has cleared the clouds, the sun was out early and the sky is already blue, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 28 degs+ - overnight down to 19 degs+ - tomorrow staying the same, next week is now looking very similar, with lots of sunshine, staying hot & sunny, with just a few patchy clouds at times, with light sea breezes, hovering in the mid 20s all week, the following week at the start of July, is going to be a ‘ Hot-One’ – normal for the month – showing at times 34 degs+  Watch this space.

Yesterday when we spoke to Sandra over in Everett, Ontario, Canada,  on ‘Fasebook’ messages, it was a very hot & humid 35c!

“ CORANVIRUS UPDATE - COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

At 12-00 am on Sunday 21st June, the whole of Spain will enter the ‘ New Normality ‘ as the three months of ‘LOCKDOWN’ comes to an end. The regions will be taking control of the crisis management, until the pandemic is considered to be over, most importantly the obligatory use of masks when a safe inter-personal distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained, is still the law, as well as all the other technical rules.

We are maintaining our own self-lockdown for the time being.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks’ – seared on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Rare’- then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms & Shallots, accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, served with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

“ STAY SAFE AND WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
