A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 12th 7 JUNE 2020.     “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 90 “

We were up early this morning, even before the goods delivery men started sliding down the wooden pallets down the street!  I turned on the ‘IT’ system and tuned into the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’  just as the ‘ Mystery Voice’ quiz came on, it was the TV Presenter Sandi Toksvig, so I’m 5 out of 5 this week!

After freshening up we went along ‘ Masked Up’ to ‘Bar Castillo’ for our breakfast, as it was their first day of opening after the ‘ Lockdown’ – we had two very nice fresh Orange Juices, Brenda had the ‘ Campo’ Scrambled Eggs with crispy Bacon, I had two ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs with crispy Bacon ( the same that we use!) with crisp ‘ Frits’! – served with this morning local small/sliced fresh ‘Baguettes’ from the local Bakery opposite, with also a fresh ‘ Tostadas’ with Olive Oil and crushed Tomato.

We sat outside in the warm sunshine with just a slight ‘ fresh ‘ breeze taking in the sight & sounds of sunny Manilva as the ‘World’ passed us by, the locals & friends, as they pass wish you ‘ Buena Provecho’ – Bon Appetit ‘ All the new tables are spaced apart, the new cutlery is wrapped in plastic and there is a hand sanitizer by the door way into the Bar, Juan is spraying down all the tables & chairs after every use at the same time.

At lunchtime we popped back for a nice cool drink sat in the hot sunshine, as you can see below;

Spot the girl in White!

Meanwhile along at ' Bar Ocaña ' the old signs have been taken down, it's now no more, after many years of business, the new sign for the ' Hostel Ocaña' above has now been put up, see below:

As I said, this morning the sun was out earlier and the light breeze is clearing the clouds and the sky is blue, by lunchtime it’s forecast to only reach 21/22 degs+ - overnight down to 15/16 degs+ - over the weekend going a lot warmer as the breeze drops, with lots of sunshine, with just a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the mid ‘ Teens’ – next week we are in for a ‘ Hot-One’ – by next Tuesday up to 29 degs+ - staying very hot & sunny all week, by next weekend, when we will be out & about for Brenda’s birthday, it’s due to reach 31 degs+! The following week is now looking very similar – June has arrived!  Watch this space.

See below some pictures of the ‘ River Manilva’ down in the valley below the village, by the ‘ Baños Romanos de la Hedionda – the Roman Baths ‘ – the sulphur hot springs, flowing from the limestone outcrop above the valley, believed to have been used by Julius Caesar’s army!

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

The ‘ Drive-In Movie ‘ starts this evening, down on the ‘Rastro Ground’ in the valley below the village, behind Sabinillas, at 9-30 pm, with the first film  ‘ Hotel Transylvania 3 ‘ – tomorrow night it’s ‘ Grease’!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet ‘ – coated in a ‘ Cruzcampo Tempura Beer Batter’ – shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, accompanied with homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce ( Brenda) and lots of Lemon Wedges, served with Garden Peas ( for the moment we are out of Batchelors Mushy Peas!) – not forgetting the triple-cooked ‘ Chips’!

On Saturday it’s our ‘Steak Night’- then on Sunday we have ordered a ‘ Roast Chicken’ from the “ Rotisserie “ in Calle Mar, for a change, which we will have with a Mixed Salad and a few of our favourite ‘Pommes de Terre Rissolee’

'Quiet today'!

As usual we are watching a lot of TV, channel hopping to find things to watch, as well as catching all the ‘ Quiz’ Shows that we follow.
