We had a well needed lie in this morning
after a week of us both not feeling very well, the village was very quiet, as
usual, we are now a lot better, I’m nearly back to normal and Brenda is getting
there, we freshened up and then Brenda, who was on the breakfast rota, as usual
on a Saturday morning, prepared her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, for
me and Scrambled for her, with mugs of strong/hot Tea.
I put the gas bottle out to be exchanged by
the delivery man later, Brenda meanwhile is washing/shampooing her hair, I then
retired upstairs to the office/studio to go on the ‘WWW’ and catch up with any ‘E-Mails,
Facebook Messages’etc, before reading all the online newspapers, catching up
with the news programmes around the World and then typing/posting today’s Blog.
The morning has started cold & cloudy,
there is a stiff breeze blowing up from the Mediterranean, the sea is a little
rough this morning, after a nice red sunrise, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 16
degs+ - during night time hovering on the 12 degs mark, tomorrow is going to be
the same, next week is now looking mixed, with sunshine at times, patchy clouds
and the ‘wet-stuff’ in the air, the breeze is going to pick up a little,
keeping it ‘ Fresh’ at all times, in the mid ‘teens’ during the day but going
colder at night, down to 9 degs again!
Watch this space.
On the sports front this weekend; there is
no ‘International Rugby Union’ as the six teams get over the battering that
they have taken, it’s back next weekend. Today over in the UK it’s the 5th
Round of the ‘FA Cup’ as lowly Newport County, past ‘ Giant Killers’ welcome Manchester City, the ‘ Champions’ - down to their small ground ‘ Rodney Parade’ –
meanwhile Liverpool have been in Marbella on a four day ‘warm weather’ training
session, if they stayed at home it was warmer and sunnier over in the UK!!
Here
in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona are at home to Real Valladolid and Real Madrid welcome
Girona, the ‘National Hunt Racing’ returns after the ‘Equine Flu’ outbreak, with 10 races today at Ascot, Haydock Park, Wincanton & Govan Park in Ireland!
This evening for our supper we are having a
large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef’ – on the bone, cooked on a very hot griddle-plate –
‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before taking it off the bone and slicing it
into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears &
Button Mushrooms, with a sauceboat of the classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the
side, accompanied with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course
twice-cooked ‘ Frits’!
Tomorrow we are having a joint of ‘Roast
Shoulder of Pork’ – with the fat left on for ‘Crackling’ – a selection of fresh
vegetables and my famous ‘Goose Fat Roast Potatoes’ – using for a change, par-boiled ‘ Baby New Potatoes’
in their skins, served with a savoury ‘Mixed
Herb’ Stuffing and a classic ‘Deep-Pan Gravy’!
This afternoon we will settle down to watch
the Racing & Football, then later this evening after supper we are going to
catch a new a series “ Trapped “ on ‘BBC Four’ – an Icelandic thriller/drama as
a Detective investigates a shocking attack on a politician in the North of
Iceland ( with sub-titles!)
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
